I sent an e-mail to qualityservice@portfoliorecovery.com and asked them to remove my phone number from their records.  I received a nice e-mail back stating that they had the wrong person and would block my phone number from their automated telephone service.  No hassel.

Have received a recorded call (woman's voice) to call this number 1-800-860-0644. My and my wife's credit is spotless so I am not received an answer why the collection call. This has been the second call so far. The number on the caller ID is 1-877=803-0008. Leaving an address of: "Recovery Associates" 120 Corporate Blv. Norfolk, Virginia, 23502

I think this might be in regard to hospital bills!  I receive calls from them, and have gotten something in the mail from NCO stating that I owe a hospital bill for my son!

I have been receiving calls from an automated system for 2 weeks now either during the day while I am @ work or late at night. When I pick up the phone there is not a person to speak with, when I call # 1-800-860-0644 I am asked to wait but even after 15 minutes wait it says " all representatives are busy" it prompts you to do *4 to leave a message but then the "mail box is full". It's starting to border on harassment.

I've told this company SEVERAL times the person they are trying to reach does NOT live here nor have this phone number. They actually told me I was lying and that I WAS the person they were trying to contact yet when asked what this was in reference to they said I wasn’t the person they needed to speak to. Then she said you live in Tennessee at such and such address to which I replied I don't!

The last time they called I returned their phone call and was on hold for over 11 minutes before someone finally answered the phone. She proceeded to tell me I was lying and hung up on me. I called the number back (this time I waited over 17 minutes) and explained to them that if they call our number one more time I was going to file harassment charges with the attorney general, the FTC and the FCC. Well, guess what? They did call again I have begun the process I warned them I was going to do with the FTC and FCC as well as the attorney general.

I also recorded the calls which I highly recommend you do because it really backs up your case. This company is a top notch scam artist and a very unworthy company not to mention they are using improper collection processes.

Harrassment calls....No debt problems ever.......why is this not illegal?

Don't know what this number is or have never heard of this company.

Portfolio Recovery Assoc. contacted me six months ago, on a day I was finally home to return their call.  They claimed I owed for a credit card from 1995.  I explained to them the debt was not valid because that account was cleared and closed in 1996 (it sounded like this was news to them).  I asked that they cease contacting me.  They said they would send a form for me to sign.  I never received anything.
Fast forward to today.  I was home to return the call I received, and the operator identified herself, then got a nasty tone, insisting that they had mailed two letters to me.  I informed her I had received neither.  She put me on hold for ten minutes.  I hung up and called back (only this time she didn't bother to identify herself).  She again tried to 'confirm' my SSN - which I *again* declined to confirm or deny.  She continued to have an attitude until I informed her that in my state, if I *had* owed anything in 1996, the statute of limitations would have run in 1999, and that I respectfully requested that they stop trying to contact me.  Suddenly, she became almost pleasant and provided a mailing address and a reference number so that I can put my request in writing.

This morning I received at 4 calls from 800-772-1413, each leaving a message saying they were a debt collection agency and any information received (when I called back the 800-860-0644 number) would be used to collect "an" unpaid debt.  That I am aware of no one in my home owes unpaid debts to anyone for anything

I owe no debt; received a call and all they wanted was my information...SCAM TO STEAL YOUR IDENTITY..PER EQUIFAX!!!

This happened to my friend's mom and she had to get the State Attorney General involved to get back her identity and whatever money was not stolen

Please stop these calls...up to 10 a day

I also got a call saying this was an attempt to collect a debt and would be contacting a collection company. What the debt/collection company is doing is called "skip tracing". They will call people in a city with a similar last name who live within a near zip code of the person who owes the debt. Dont give any personal info other than your number and to not call back. If your in California, they have to stop calling within 48 hours.

This portfolio recovery is a walking talking, living breathing disease that needs to be eradicated.

Ignore them and NEVER communicate or speak with them the same way as avoiding the black plague, and they are a black plague on society.

NEVER send them any money as they will only get worse like a gang of criminals that smells blood.

Receving calls from this number for months. Today I had a message from my landlord stating that this debt collection agency had called him in order to get me to call them back regarding this 'debt' I owe.   My landlord called them back and told them he had no information for them.
Why would a credit agency call my lanlord!  This made my very annoyed. I got on the net and decided to google the phone number and found this site. I am so glad that I am not alone in my harassment.  
I will file a complaint with my state attorney generals office.

I just got the same call everyone else got. I called the number back and got a very nice lady who, after getting my phone number only, told me the person they were looking for was a guy who hasn't lived in this house for over 5 years. While I was on the phone, she said she's taking my phone number and address out of their system. Sadly, about every 6 months, the guy they are looking for tricks a bunch of companies into giving him credit, then changes his address and phone number to ours and skips out on the bill.
