I noticed some illicit charges, so I had informed my bank, they advised me to close the existing checking account and to open a new one.  I also think that they may have passed my routing and checking account number to their affiliate partners. Dont wait until they drain your account to take drastic measures.

I just discovered a charge on my account for $24.75 on Sept 4, also AD&D with phone number 8008607182. I am closing the account. I thought it was the only charge, but after looking more closely at my last few statements I see another charge in June for the same amount. I must have glanced over that statement quickly and thought it was AT&T, my cell phone provider. I have filed a fraud claim with my bank over the Sept. charge but it is past 60 days on the June one, so I guess I'm out $24.75. That will teach me to look more closely at my statements. I'd sure like to know who the hell these people are and how they got my information!

Thanks for the info. I did report this charge of 49.50 to the BBB and informed my bank. PNC bank stated that it is a service through them and that I must have signed up for this service. I will call on Monday.

found a $99 charge out of my checking account, after googling the number i closed the account.  when I called they gave me a policy number for insurance I never took out, could NOT fax me a copy, had NO physical address, did NOT identify their company and could not name a beneficiary.  If I took out this policy for AD and D - where IS IT? If I died today on my bike, NO ONE would know I am "insured"...this is a scam pure and simple.  I am persuing this to the bitter end.

I noticed a charge to my checking account for $40.50 by AD&D and, after reading all the comments in here, I decided to call the ph# listed and find out who they were.  As it turned out, they're a 3rd party for The Hartford Insurance.  So, if you applied for The Hartford's accidental death & dismemberment insurance or other policies that is who it is.  I hope this helps others.

This is a legitimate charge, for me. I opened new bank accounts and was offered accidental death and dismemberment insurance that I accepted. I am charged every quarter. ASK YOUR BANK!

I disagree.  I didn't sign up for anything, but even, even, if somehow there was some flier that said all you have to do is nothing and you will be signed up, I called the number and they couldnt find ANY info on me, even though they have charged my acct 3 times since 5/08.
Also, its funny, on my statement it says the first withdrawl was on 5/08, then it says on 7/08 there was a PRE-notification, and they charged the acct again
    Pre?
How can it be pre when youve already chrged me.....twice?

Like everyone else on here, I too was charged $49.50 from my credit union just yesterday. This is what I found on my online statement last night, ACH W/D:AD&D 800-860-7182. They charged me $49.50 plus I went negative because of this,So I will now be charged an additional $24.00.
I do not recall buying AD&D insurance from my bank, And if I did, what's to say they will ever pay up if something ever happened to me.They would obviously never know about it,and the wife would never know about the insurance from the bank.Sounds like a pretty gray area scam they are running here.

I receieved a charge of $30 from this so-called insurance company, I didnt not elect this insurance and I sure as h*ll did not give out my banking information. I've called and spoke to them, and they have no record of my account, and I swear no one speaks clear english, additionally if it is through or associated with The Hartford, I'll be giving them a call along with the BBB and my Bank! This is crazy! I going back with a fine tooth comb and review my banking statements, I suggest you all do the same.

Here's the deal. The bank sells a list of its clients and their banking information to Affinion. Affinion offers everyone a free $1000 ADD policy, and sends a form or letter indicating this. If you do nothing, you will be signed up for the free $1000 policy. If you want the extra coverage (which is NOT free), you will need to sign and return the form to Affinion. You do not have to give them your banking info, they already have it. By signing the form and returning it to Affinion, you are accepting any premium charges for the additional coverage.

When you get the charges, get your banking statement out, and look at the transaction detail. It will contain Affinion's customer service # and your coverage ID, which is a 9 digit number that usually starts with a 6 or 7.

And do keep in mind that ADD means Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage, NOT standard life insurance. It is a type of life insurance, but if you die of natural causes, this policy will not pay out. That is why the rates are so cheap, because the odds of dying of an accident are much lower than disease or other natural causes.

Affinion will give you a copy of the policy if you request it. The policies are written in language as plain as possible, but if you need help figuring out what a particular section means, call Affinion.

I never received a phone call from this so called Insurance Company, but today while checking my bank account I came accross a charge of $148.50 that I did not authorized, neither did I purchase insurance from them or any other company.  I'll be visiting my bank and they'll have to handle it like or not they'll have to return this money to my account.

My father had a policy with them. When I took over his accounts I called them to ask questions. I wanted to raise the principle. So I asked them if the policy he had covered if he dies of a health issue and was told "YES" . So I went ahead and raised the principle. So of course my premiums went up. My father passed away and I called them about cashing in the policy. Then they told me the policy he had only covered accidents. I told them about our discussion and the lady said "Sorry". Have a nice day. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and the Attorney General's office. I would avoid this company at all costs. They find ways to not pay. They are a bad investment.

Hello, usually this is additional AD&D insurance from a Credit Union during a loan process or account setup.
