I have 5 charges on my phone (one for $9.99 from 99333 and four for $19.99 from others...2 being the exact same) which I think my daughter tried to get free ringtones.  I know she never put in the code but she texted STOP within 5 minutes of getting the codes.  Verizon said they won't do anything (same story) so I sent messages to each company.  When they won't do anything, I'll just dump Verizon.  I am pretty pissed (with $93.95 in charges) and CAN'T BELIEVE there's nothing anyone can do.  What a bunch of TOTAL BS!!!!!

This originates when you are filling out an online survey.  It pops up asking if you would like to receive twenty free ringtones.  It is actually a $9.99 monthly fee but it is in extremely fine print.  It is extremely misleading!!~!!

Alltel will not give you a credit.  You must contact this company and try to get a refund.

Time for Verizon and other Cell companies to stand up and own the fraudulent billing taking place with thier accounts.

In today's worlds where I can block a single letter from view in e-mail TV etc, seems Verizon can block Premium Text Messages, unless of course it is a very lucrative part of thier business.

If a friendly call does not get a full refund from the the pass through billing then a class action law suit may be in order.

I spend $500.00 plus per month for several Verizon accounts and I am tired of texting co's. I did not contact in the first place to be told I need to send my Verizon bills to them for a refund and oh Yeah it may take several cycles to remove the billing. BS. This is fraud pure and simple.

The same thing happened to me. I was charged two months and Verizon would only reverse one of the charges.

I just filed a report with Better Business Bureau. I think we all need to submit a report so that they know it is not a random act.

I too got this charge for July and August.  I called Verizon and they were GREAT about it!  They credited both months and told me to send a text message as follows:
    to: 81000
(when you enter this, a hypen may appear, don't worry)
    text: unsubscribe
Be sure there is NOTHING else in the message including your name.
You will then receive a text back saying you are unsubscribed.

I reported this company to the better business bureau, they claim that I entered my phone number in their webform, then I checked a box that said I agreed to their terms of service and then I was suppose have gotten a text confirming this sign up.  I never did any of these things, I only received a call from them and did not answer, after this phone call, charges were applied to my verizon bill......good idea to report them to better business bureau, so they get shut down.

My daughter got scammed and we don't have a clue as how this charge was incurred.  My daughter says she never called the 1800# or signed up on the internet.  So this RIP-OFF company needs to be reported to the Attorney Generals office and let them find out why this company can solicit minors and get away with charging $9.99 for nothing.  My charges were not refunded by Verizon - how did anyone manage to get them taken off their bill?

Verizon refunded the $9.99 and gave the instructions for stopping the service. I had my son text "STOP CANCEL QUIT UNSUBSCRIBE" to 81000. My son is certain he never signed up for the so-called service. Even though Verizon has stepped up with a refund, it is still outrageious for them to remain complicit in this scam. There should be a law - no third party billing without consent, and the bill forwarder should be empowered to cancel and/or refund service at the request of the billee.

Verizon credited my account and we are calling today to unsubscribe to this erroneous charge.  I am also contacting the class action people as suggested by Consumer Rights Activist, thank you for that.  I further suggest that the rest of us make a statement and put an end to it now.  Without a voice, more people will get charges and we may incur other charges down the road.  I doubt any of us will have to do much work as that is what the Lawyers and paralegals will do for us.  I also doubt that any of us will incur legal charges as a result of this but I'll find out.  My suggestion to those of you contacting Verizon is to BE NICE.  The rep I spoke with had no problem because I was nice and asked her for help resolving a possible scam.  She noted it in the account and all should be well.  here is the info: 8/20 8:18AM Premium TXT Messaging PREM_SMS 81000 Bid4Prz3 9.99 8008617414 -- 9.99  9.99
    9/19 8:18AM Premium TXT Messaging PREM_SMS 81000 Bid4Prz3 9.99 8008617414 -- 9.99  9.99

Just cancelled this subscription on my wife's phone.  The response was from Bid4Prizes-Your subscription to the Low Bid Auction Game has been stoped.  You will receive no further messages from this program.  Thank you.  800-861-7474.  Now, I looked up this Low Bid Auction and there are several legitimate companies involved including, Discovery Channel, all of the US major cell carriers, ESPN, mobitv, and more.  This is tough phish to catch.  There are major casinos in LV nevada using this software as well.  In some cases the software usage may be legitimate; however, with these erroneous charges abound I doubt that major companies like Verizon, Discovery Channel and ESPN will want to be associated with such riff raff.  Hope this helps.

I hope your realize its not Verizon's fault....The company you should be pissed at is New Motion Inc, the company that owns the bid4prizes site... VZW can't keep track of everything you do and babysit your phone and control what surveys you fill out online. Honestly, I read the fine print for all those surveys and offers, hence why the only premium text messages I've ever received were free and mostly from political campaigns. If you want Verizon Wireless to update their systems and block only certain numbers or send alerts tou better be prepared for higher charges because keeping track of MILLIONS of people sending and receiving BILLIONS of text messages costs a lot of money. If you wanna fork it over, fine, but I certainly don't so read the fine print next or SOL....

I went back to Verizon to get this charge removed from my bill - the first time they wouldn't do it and I let it go.  But the more I thought about it this the more it annoyed me.  My daughter did nothing to incur these charges on her cell phone.  When I went back this time - I would not take no for an answer.  I figure the more times Verizon has to eat this charge - the more likely it is they will do something in the future to prevent charges like these from appearing on our phone bills.  They did refund me my $9.99 and it should be on this months invoice as a credit.  I put blocks on the rest of the phones so that this won't happen again... I hope.

My feeling is this company needs to be slapped with a large fine.  Bid4prz is a Total SCAM and it is stealing tons on $$ from innocent people.  I

Just checked my Verizon Wirelss bill on line and noticed two charges (one for Aug. and one for Sept. for $9.99 each. Called V Wireless and I was told this service was ordered through my cell phone. IMPOSSIBLE ! I did not order this. Verizon told me to text 81000 and write STOP to stop the service, but I still had to pay for it.  I then called 800-861-7414 (Bid4Prz3)and got a very nasty man that told me I ordered the service via the internet not through my phone and it was tough luck.  I screamed at him telling him this was a scam and he just got nastier!  Later that evenig I called Verizon to argue about the charges and I got a very nice lady that credited my account for me.  Keep calling Verizon until you get someone that will reverse the charges for you.  In the meantime I am reporting them to every fraud unit I can find on the internet.  Good Luck.

I had the same problem.  Called 1-800-861-7414 and got the same run around as the rest of you.  They claimed I had signed up for service.  Total BS.  This is a scam and needs to be stopped.  I called the Oregon State Attorney General's office and filed a complaint with them.  I encourage all of you to do the same and to pass this on to anyone else that is getting ripped off!

We have a Verizon wireless family plan, My daughter received a text from this company (PREM_SMS 81000 Bid4Prz3 9.99 8008617414 -- 9.99)offering her some free ringtones.  She showed me the text and I told her to erase it.  When I got my phone bill it was higher than usual, so I decided to check the detailed bill online.  What did i see? This same PREM_SMS 81000 Bid4Prz3 9.99 8008617414 -- 9.99 charging me for something I did not even acknowledge and just erased.

I believe there is a huge spam ring going on.  It is possible for someone ELSE who has your wireless number to sign up for premium services.  As a consequence, you will get line item charges on your wireless bills from companies such as this one.  Here is one the charge shows up on mine:

    Date Type Description Provider Charges
    9/26 Message Bid4Priz 800-861-7414
