John Berry & Associates, 1-800-868-1899 called here way too many times.  I finally answered their call today & they were looking for my x-husband & told him he never lived here & never will.  I asked the rude woman if this was an attorney's office & she refused to answer me, but thought it was okay to ask my daughter's name!  I read a bunch of the call details from other people before learning that they are a health-care collection agency. They need to be stopped from making random phone calls.

This @#@# of a lady was sooooooooooooo rude to me!  I ask to whom is calling?  She asked me several questions and I responded maam you called me and i have a right to know to whom I'm speaking.   I understand we all have a job to do, but to be so ignorant is ridiculous.  Obviosly the company accepts this type of behaviour!  Oh well, I'm filing a complaint with my Attorney General office and I suggest you do the same in your state.  It is easy as 123. Take a few minutes out of your day and file!

Called and left a message for my husband's ex wife.  The message said they needed to be called back. The ex wife has never lived here.  When I called back, the man who answered was extremely rude. When I stated the ex wife had lots of debt and I could give them her number, he hung up.  I called back and gave them the number.  I asked the name of the company and again, told them that she does not answer her phone and will not pay.  He said "This is not a debt collection agency." and hung up.  I wish I could stop debt collectors from calling here!

    irritated with HMA
My mother received a call from these folks looking for me on 11/5/08. Haven't called them back yet.  Instead, got online, did a little research and this is what I believe is happening in my case:  HMA hospitals { for me specific one is Crossgates Med. Ctr. in Brandon, MS. }  has contracted these folks to do ALL their billing.  My insurance company has not received ANY billing from the HMA-owned hospital OR JBA.  This company would appear to be "dunning" me for payment when, as HMA's third-party billing co., they should be filing the paperwork in a timely manner.  Also, my number and address are both on all paperwork filed at the hospital.  My mother's name and number were listed as contact IN CASE OF EMERGENCY!  Well, lack of planning and unprofessionalism on their part does not constitute an emergency on my part.  The papers I signed in the business office are legal documents, I understand my responsibility, as well as their own.  Thank goodness for the internet!  Know what I wonder, tho?  How many folks go ahead and pay these companies and don't realize that insurance pays as well?  Wonder if they ever get their money back?  Wonder if anyone even tells them they SHOULD be getting money back?  Wonder how much time, effort and frustration it takes to get that money back?  Or do they just give up?

See Website on JBA was incorporated and licensed in 1986 as a collection agency. Nine years later, realizing the growth in outpatient volume felt by our customer base, we expanded our services. In 1995, Extended Business Office Services was created as a division of JBA performing outsourcing functions for hospital business offices.

Bad debt accounts are worked in various ways including letters, phone contact and skip-tracing. We do not assign accounts to any one representative; instead we work on call-back date assignments. This promotes timeliness of collection regardless of balance. A first letter is sent to the guarantor within 24 hours, and many times this happens within the same day. Depending on balance, multiple letters and phone calls are used to contact patients. We work with our clients to determine number of phone attempts, frequency of calls, statement timing, and call back diligence. Due to our superior technology, attempts are unlimited. We work an account to conclusion through A.M. dialing, P.M. dialing, and POE dialing.

For accounts with no telephone numbers, we perform skip-tracing in order to locate more of your patients, which results in revenue to your bottom line. Our use of multiple skip-tracing databases guarantees maximum recovery in an efficient manner. Some of these databases include Accolaid, Accurint, Banko, Electronic White Pages, Internet Yellow Pages, and Equifax Finders/full credit reports. We analyze account information sent to us and determine the fastest, most effective path to locate patients.

Our collectors make the difference. We maintain the most experienced healthcare collectors who are top performers in the industry. We are 100% healthcare focused and many of our collectors have received their Certified Collection Specialist certification through ACA. On average, our collectors have 13 years industry experience, and have been with JBA for 7 years. They ask the right questions to assess a patient’s financial situation before determining which of our multiple payment options would work best for quickest collection. We have the know-how and experience to collect on accounts without damaging the patient relationships that are essential to the healthcare providers we partner with.

Just got a call from these sleazeballs, and like everyone here wouldn't give any information as to who they were or anything. Only solicitors and bill collectors call me by my full name, so I knew right off the bat I didn't want to talk to them. After "Melissa" gave me the company name I asked what the company does and she refused to tell me. So I hung up on her. She was also very rude from the get-go. I think when they call in the future I'll just mess with them and waste as much of their time as possible, like telling them to hold on while I get [me] to the phone and then just walk away and see how long they wait. :)  Maybe if they weren't so rude from the first word, I'd be more inclined to work with them, but now that I know who they are, they're going to be sorry they called me with such a 'tude.

    smart mom
these people kept calling me one night and as I ususally dont answer calls I dont know I did answer because I felt it may be important because of the many times they called. they asked if i was a certain childs mother and if he was born in 1996. that is where i was like hey who is this and why are you asking about my 12 yr old son. they said are you this childs mother and this is personal matter with him and we have to speak to his mother. i kept telling them to first tell me who they were and then i would tell thm if I was his mother. they kept being rude and arguing with me and finally hung up on me. I know I have a hospital bill that is overdue but to call and harass people and espically to drag a minor into it is absurd. how can these people go home at night and live with thereselves.

Ok so these people have called looking for my five year old and told me to verify her date of birth and social. . .as if I'm that stupid!!  If you truly are a collection agency you would know that calling a person's home and never leaving a message DOES NOT constitute trying to resolve the matter and would never hold up in a court of law.  Also, if you have a claim on a five year old, then you really are crooked idiots. . .anyone with common sense would know that a five year old could not acquire debt and actually be responsible for it. . .ever hear of identity theft and harrassment?  I will be contacting my attorney.

Someone from this number keeps calling me at my home telephone number with a message to call them back for an "important matter".  This has occurred a number of times. I have no overdue bills.  Once, when I called back to have them stop calling, they started asking personal questions and refused to give their name, company name or what the call was about.  They were very rude and refused to actually state why they were calling

Call appeared on Caller ID as "not provided. I do not answer such calls. A recorded message was left on my voicemail that looped over and over, filling my voice mailbox. Later I played the voicemail....no name, just it was not a sales call and it was about" an important business matter". I got curious and after blocking my own phone number from display, I called the given number 1-800-868-1899. After holding for a while a gruff male voice answered with John Berry and Associates, how can I help you. I hung up and then found this site!

I owe no debts; so if this is a collection agency, I don't know why they were calling me. I'm waiting to see if they call again. I hope they do...I love harassing low-lifes like these!

These people called a couple of times and I ignored it.  They called a third time, and I returned the call from my work number.  The woman who spoke to me was incredibly rude and actually hung up on me when I refused to give my number to her.  I had told her what my name was, and she said I was not the one they were trying to call.

Today, they called again.   I called back.  They immediately asked if they could speak to Jackie Jackson.  No idea who that is.  I told them so, and then proceeded to tell them I was on the do not call registry.  The woman said, "that doesn't apply to wrong numbers. we are not telemarketers." and hung up.  I could not believe how rude these people were.  If that had said, "I'm sorry to have bothered you, etc." then my reaction would have been different.  But no - both people I spoke to were downright hostile.

So I got pissed off and called them back.  They asked if I was Jackie Jackson again.  I said no, but I wanted to know the name of the company because I wanted to contact a supervisor.  I explained that I had been hung up on, and the woman (a different one from the previous two times) practically barks at me,"I didn't hang up on you!!"  I told her that I can't imagine they have ANY success at all with collecting anything because of their rudeness, and I hung up on them.  If they call again, I am contacting my phone company.

I recieved a call from John Berry & Assoc. tonite at 8:55pm.  Brett stated that the call was an attempt to collect a debt and wanted to know if I was born in 1957.  I told him I don't give out personal info to anyone I don't know.  I also asked who the debt was with.  He informed me he couldn't give me any info until I gave him my info.  Once again I said I do not give out personal info on the phone, next thing I know he hung up on me.  I did the *69 thing, called them and left a message that if they had a debt for me then they already had my address and could mail it to me.  Then I googled them and found all of this.  What rude jerks !!!!!!!!!!  Now I'm going to email the pres just for the principle of it.

I am getting calls everyday, but I don't answer anymore.  I had a guy call saying that I owe 1400.00 for a medical bill, but would not tell me what for or where the charge originated.  I have Kidney disease, so I do have some unpaid medical bills.  I offered to start sending them $5 a month along with the other 17 medical bills I currently owe if he could give me specific information.  He was very rude and wanted my checking account number, then he wanted my credit card number, then he wanted me to apply for a credit card just to pay them.  I explained I make less than Ten dollars an hour so I don't have/cannot get a credit card, but that I would add them to the list to send 5 a month. He started yelling at me, so I hung up.

They've been calling me for the past few days with the same messages-  "This is not a sales call- this is an important business matter...."  I don't owe anyone any money.  At first when they called, they didn't even get my name right.  Anyhow, that's why I have an answering machine.  They never identify who they are, and I refuse to answer.  I just wish I knew how they got my number!
