- Kemp Employee replies to Question| 7 repliesto Question - Didn't know this site was for bashing, excuse us for defending our line of work. What is it that you do, no let me guess, priest? Work for a non-profit? Doctor? Well doctors aren't all that ethical, unless the money is right, and don't get me started with priests, and wasn't a ton of money just lifted from Haiti from non-profit agencies? Somewhere someone is reading your comments and making an important decision about something everyone in these times needs, MONEY. You on the other hand, using very little knowledge of how our company, or the law in general works, is discouraging them. Shame on you!! The internet has plenty of sites where you can bash peoples ideas, then use lame lines about incompetence(correct spelling by the way). Some of these people really want a straight answer not some opinions on ethics.
PEEVED- Your case is unique, we usually stay away from direct lines, but please note we talk to people all the time that had no clue where their parents are and if they are alive. It is a fact of life, no cases are the same, we feel like we provide a great service to those that aren't aware of the decedent or how they fit into the family. Even though I disagree with some of your assessments, I understand where your anger is coming from. - shame on you !! replies to Kemp Employee| 1 replyYour industry is much smaller than the medical and religeous sectors. YOu are a fool and just rep your company. There are doctors that save lives as well as priests who save souls. You take 33% and dont return phone calls. Yu say information is in the mail, and its more contracts and crap. Is it in you daily duties to write on blogs... you are all scared that people do know about your company, do know 33% is over 50% more than mosts states let companies charge(unless theres a bs contract with peticular language). So are you gonna save my life, try to save my soul.
- stupid generalization replies to Kemp Employee| 1 replyTHat was the most offending remark I would not want anyone representing me who spoke to people with such openly generalized opinions like yourself. SO you say your indusry backed by attorney's are better than priests and doctors. So when you speak of the dirty judge on your case files page you expect me to believe that you guys were the heros who sniffed it all out. You know of these things cause you come from these things. I believe in you eyes the only problem with a dirty judge is one who doesn't play ball( wont give you leads). See I could generalize just as I have above, the same way you have and i think the only truth is in the case by case. You can not speak of you company as if every deal is great. 33% is dishonest. That is much less of a generalization than saying what you have said about doctors and priests.
- no message machine replies to Kemp EmployeeNO message machine. Why not... too many angry clients?
- sick| 5 repliesthese crap-supporters, i mean, kemp-supporters get a nice little chunk of each 33% taken...man, i'd sure defend my paycheck too, if it were in jeopardy....thank god i have an honest job...this should be an eye-opener to everyone....make sure you ALWAYS have a will....even if you are young, you never know when something could happen to you...update it frequently and make sure it is NOTORIZED!! I can't imagine how many of the deceased are rolling in their graves at the fact that non-related, con-artists with legal loophole access slithered their way into collecting an unjust amount of money for providing a do-it-yourself service.....so you heard the employee...IGNORE THEM!
- Son of My Father replies to sick| 4 repliesWOW!!! Bunch of hating going on here. Just my 2 cents. Back in 97' got a phone call from Jim saying I was a beneficiary to an estate and he knew my mom's maiden name and my father. I never knew my real father since I was a year old. Well the first thing out of my mouth is "This sounds like a crock of S### to me". He explained to me that they worked on a contigency basis and there was no cost to me. Ok I signed @ 25%, it was money I didn't know about ... cool. Ok I'm glad i did too!!! Here's the long of it. My real Father passed away in Vegas with no will. He was listed as No known Heirs. Come to find out he wasn't the nicest of people as he took a bunch of money from my Real Grandparents and put his mother in a nursing home in Vegas. He even had a will drawn up that later named him and not his sister (my aunt/I never met). Well the sister was later contacted by another company who didn't know about me. The sister tried to say that I was adopted out and had no claim to the estate...wrong. Anyway it took a long time but we agreed to put the money into Trust for my Real Grandmother's care and we would divide the remainder when she passed away. I would have never known about this whole thing had it not been for Kemp and Associates. It was pretty painless other than being trashed by relatives I never knew because of my Real Father's sins. In this day and age we have to be skeptical but for the amount of work and time this thing took I came out way ahead in the long run. As far as the process in Vegas my complaints would have to be with the court system out there and not K&A. NOT A SCAM guys!!!
- Kemp Employee replies to shame on you !!What I was referring to was that there are bad actors in all professions. Regardless of the answer to my rhetorical question, we're in unprecedented times of mistrust. We provide a legitimate service, we usually are speaking with people that have no clue who the decedent is or knew them by name only. The ones talking to you are genealogist, not attorneys, and we like most of you, work for an employer that tells us what the percentages are to be charged based on previous cases in this area and the expenses we incur while protecting your rights to the inheritance. AND by the way, we don't work in the unclaimed property arena where they have caps on this type of investigating. As far as me blogging, I thought it was a free country, didn't know it was frowned upon to stand up for what you believe in.
- Coligny FOREVER replies to stupid generalizationAlright... first off, you aren't being fair to this guy (or gal?). You are misconstruing what they are saying. Nowhere did I read that they said that their profession was better than that of a priest or doctor. You seem very combative and you don't really seem to understand that making a profit is something that all businesses do... otherwise, what is the purpose of working? Now, you might believe that 33% is an *unfair* price. And you are quite welcome to believe that... but this company is forthcoming about the fees that they charge and therefore it is not *dishonest.* If they were dishonest, they would keep it from you. And any adult can do research to figure out if the company is legit or if there are any alternatives... in fact, that is the very thing I am doing now for my grandfather.
I do not understand why people demonize people who are trying to make a profit. That is what we ALL do (well, if we have a job). Business is not EVIL. People are not being preyed upon. They receive a service, and in return, the company receives a payment. - peeved replies to Kemp EmployeeAren't you doing exactly what you accused question of doing? And being a representative of a scrupulously honest company lay some of our misgivings to rest once and for all by telling us what the minimum value of an estate has to be before Kemps altruism engages. As an insider you must have this information at your fingertips.
- Show me the money| 1 replyOkay, so here is my story. We were contacted by Kemp and Associates three years ago (and Fed Exed a package with urgency!) and after some skepticism, we filled out all the requested information. After that I stayed in touch (I contacted them) and after a year or so, the "proof package" was sent to the attorney they use in New Jersey. Since then (two years and running), it has been one excuse after another as to why they have not "settled" the estate. First it was the alleged inability of the lawyer to contact the Administrator. Then the Administrator claimed the Unclaimed Property in the state had wanted the money so she had been holding off with any contact. Then the Administrator hired an independent genealogist. Then she claimed not to have all the documents...where did they go??? such as birth certificates, etc. which in and of itself is disturbing. Now there is some obscure person they have potentially located that they are willing to research to the enth degree (more time, more money????) before it can be settled...It is going on 4 years, and to tell you the truth, there has been no communication if not for my pushing to get the facts (if you can call them that.) After reading all of these comments...one thing is blatantly missing...someone who has actually RECEIVED any money...that is also very distressing. Seems like they may allow it to run the majority of any inheritance into the ground with fees for all the parties EXCEPT the potential heirs. Believe me, if we EVER see any money I will be happy to post it here.
Or even if SOMEONE lets us know the amount of the estate at this point....shouldn't we legally be entitled to that if nothing else?????? After all, when contacted and overnight FEDexed at the beginning of this whole thing as if it was extremely urgent we comply, shouldn't we expect the same urgency on the other end?????
I agree that in a time of stolen identities to have given all our information out and then treated as if we shouldn't be expecting something in return if very upsetting.- Caller: Kemp and Associates
- Do Your Own Research replies to Show me the moneyJust a couple of questions. Did you know you were possibly an heir to the estate prior to being contacted by Kemp and Associates? If so, why didn't you hire your own attorney to do all the footwork? How much do you think an attorney would have cost you? Are you familiar with all of the research required, documentation required or are you familiar with the probate process and probate courts?
Just asking . . . . . - peeved replies to Son of My Father| 3 repliesIf you never cared enough about someone to keep in touch, or even enough to know if they are dead or alive, what makes you think you deserve a share of the leftovers?
- none believer| 4 repliesI was just contacted by Kemp, and I am just starting to research this company. I have read all the posts, including the ones from Kemp employees defending their company, and in all these posts.....I have not read even one person who has said that they ACTUALLY received their money!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is there anyone out there that actually went through Kemp's process and received their money????????????? Anyone?
- Caller: Kemp & Associates
- BillyBoB replies to none believer| 3 repliesI agree with the poster above. My wife was contacted by Kemp and signed the papers. I also have read all the posts here, and I am also interested wether anyone has recieved any money? How long did you wait for money 1 year? four years? I'm not saying it's a scam, but it sure would be nice to know if it actually benefited someone.
- Joseph Doty replies to BillyBoB| 2 repliesBillieBob: I had a client here yesterday who is working with Kemp and I handed him his second and final distribution. He received close to $100,000 and was very grateful. People do receive there money. Unfortunately this site is for haters mostly.
- Kemp Employee| 2 repliesAnyone who has read our contract understands we don't get paid anything unless we get money out to the beneficiaries we represent. So we wouldn't be in business if no one received their shares as our only income stream is the percentages we receive minus all of our costs per estate. So it is in our best interest to close these estates as fast as possible, with as limited delay as possible. We usually don't work on estates lower than $75,000.00. Thousands of people over the last 40+ years have received their money, a high percentage of those individuals would not have been "found" had it not been for our company. It seems like more people on here are upset about the "contigency fee" than they are about the process or service we provide. Please understand all we're doing is taking the control out of the states hands and giving it to the private attorney we've hired on your behalf. Recently we were hired at $50,000.00/case to find the heirs on an estate by the public fiduciary responsible for distribution of this estate. So in theory if this PF did nothing, and we came in and found, then represented these individuals that $50,000.00 would have still been in the estate. If he did nothing and we weren't here then that $50,000.00 plus all the other money in the estate would go to the State the decedent died in, which probably wouldn't have made the deceased happy either. So it gets spent one way or another, we understand the unknown is scary, we aren't out chasing hearses like some of you think, we're normal educated people that have families and enjoy what we're doing. If you have concerns or questions please don't hesitate to call us.
- Not a hater, nor sychophant| 2 repliesI got the FedEx package from Kemp and Associates as well as from a competing firm on the same day almost a year ago. A distant relative whom I lost track of had died and, short version, my siblings and I will almost certainly collect some money that we would not have known about without the intervention of an heir finder.
I will not disclose the final fee as a courtesy to Kemp and Associates, and I know that the estate will be picked over by a lot of greedy people, government agencies, etc. who are politically ensconced in the particular county where the death occurred. That's the way the world works--Kemp isn't a vulture, but there are indeed vultures pouncing on this. But that's the government. The biggest vulture is the state that has no interest in finding legit heirs in the way Kemp is interested.
But, the point is :THIS IS FOUND MONEY, PEOPLE. We are happy to learn of this estate and we are beating the state to the money. Kemp will earn their fee and we will be happy to see them get it--because we will be getting more. The work they do is REQUIRED by the courts to establish the line of inheritance that will prevent the state from taking the money. Try becoming a genealogist and learning how to trace this stuff and then see how much you would charge for your work.
The majority of the complainers here are just not aware of how the world works and seem to enjoy the anonymous nature of the on-line world to post their nonsense. I suggest they go back to their comfortable BarcaLoungers and keep screaming at The Price is Right. - Fedup w/ KEMP replies to Not a hater, nor sychophantKemp and Assoc. contacted my wife about a year ago and made it seem like if she didn't sign with them she would not get her inheritance. She signed but some other relatives did not now when we try to contact Kemp to question them about their unethical practices they will not return calls. If Kemp and associated employees read this please respond at least be decent enough to call people back. My wife has left at least 5 messages for Bill Kraus of K+A. We have found out that if we did nothing we would receive 100% of our inheritance.
- Yeah....right replies to Kemp EmployeeSo, Kemp hires an attorney 'on your behalf'. LOL. So, out of the inheritance, you have to pay an attorney you don't know and did not choose - as well as 1/3 Kemp no top of the attorney fees?? Um, yeah. That makes a lot of sense.
Of course the attorneys who Kemp is funneling work to are posting positive things about them.
So, what's a person to do? Do your own research, or get recommendations from someone you trust for an attorney specializing in these sorts of matters. And hire them yourself. You just saved yourself a third of your inheritance!
