- davidvanstl replies to Kemp EmployeeWell, if you're going to talk to someone who has no clue, then PEEVED is your guy! ;)
- davidvanstl replies to notdecent| 1 replyWow - what an argument!! Are you, like, a genius or something??
- davidvanstl replies to peeved| 1 replyYou don't have many friends, do you.
- jwt| 1 replyLeft a message on my cell about an inheritance...called them back, turned out I was not the Jonathan Turner they were looking for...too bad I could use the money :)

- FLD57They may be legitimate but they fool you with their FedX letter and phone call into thinking they represent your relative's estate. As was the case with me. Unfortunately, I did not do my due diligence and signed the letter of assignment. I found out after I sent the letter back that the court appointed administrator has to prove to the court that they notified all potential heirs..so I would have been contacted anyway. Also, 1/4 of my inheritance is ridiculous for the little work they do. I received a number of calls after Kemps advising me that they would represent me for less. I was cheated! Anyone know of a way to fire Kemp and the atty they hired. Misleading the public appears to be their business.

- Stunned replies to davidvanstlOh yeah! Do they charge you a third of whatever you have for it?
- Western replies to davidvanstlWOW! You have such a ready whit, you will let us know when it's ready , won't you.
- Insolent replies to davidvanstlHow long have you worked for Kemp? And if you're sooooooooooo smart, how much money has to be in an estate before Kemp becomes interested in making sure everyone gets what's coming to Kemp....I mean them. And remember that your usual barage of insults only displays the fact that there is no defense of what Kemp does. Just answer the question for a change without the childish insults. Besides, I bet my dad can beat up your dad!!!!!!!!
- Peeved replies to davidvanstlDid you ever notice that when you ask a question someone either doesn’t want to answer or for which they have no answer they will either not reply at all or just say bad things about your momma but don’t address what was said? The people criticizing Kemp present facts to support what they say. The defenders, with rare exception, bad mouth your momma.
- Math Whiz replies to Joseph DotyTha tmeans that the estate was worth at least $133,000 doesn't it?
- UNREALStill none of the Kemp supporters has said what the minimum estate value has to be to get their interest.

- Left in the darkOk, so my siblings and myself were contacted back in Sept 2010 by John Berquist (sp?) regarding a great uncle's estate. Over the years my grand parents and parents have passed, leaving very little info on distant relatives. Basically we never met or even knew he existed, heck, I never met my grandmother, his sister, she passed away before I was even born. WOW! We have other family out there.... did not know. But now he is gone, will never know him. But he did leave us a gift. Did he know it, prob not, but I feel like I am entitled to it!! Now, Kemp steps in and wants to represent us for 33%. We have no idea how to even begin to negotiate this...we still are in the dark.. we don't even know where he lived, his name.. nothing. So they of course use this to their advantage, and do so very well... we have to this day received very little info in the way of family history.. their intention is to leave us in the dark until this thing is complete for fear that they may lose out on their 33%. And 33%, what services will they have done to earn this fee? Well, let's see, 3 months after initial contact, we contacted them, we were informed that the case was at a stand still, they needed death certificates. I was able to get them this within 24hours.Another 2 months no word from them.. So again WE contact them, at which point we are able to get the number to the lawyer they have hired. We then found out the entire estate is completely liquidated, taxes paid, waiting on the other side of the estate to gather their proof, our proof is complete.(of course it is, we gathered all the proof they prob needed) Personal representative had already been appointed (before we were initially contacted of course) and the other side of the family already had an attorney and were gathering their proof. Does not sound like Kemp has had to do much work on their side... we sent them all of the proof needed (birth certificates, death certificates, obits, pics of head stones, even copies of old envelopes addressed to my grandmother in the county my great uncle passed away) to prove the court that we are heirs to the estate. They have not initiated contact with us to give us updates, we have initiated all contact. So my argument to the 33% is this... what services have they provided that have warranted 33% of an inheritance that by blood, we are entirely entitled to? It's robbery and foolishness on our part. But who even in a lifetime can prepare for such circumstances? This is how they get you. Wish I would have known more before we agreed... wish we had leverage to somehow contest the contract. It's absolutely sickening to know that they will receive so much money for so little they have done. But what's done is done. The estate is at a point at which it should be closing, so hopefully we will get what is picked over by all the vultures thus far soon...... RIP Great Uncle.

- kirin replies to Allan AndersonDid you receive any money from Kemp and Associates and how long did it go on for? Til they bleed the account dry with attorney fees and expenses? I hope not. Please be honest, as I am trying to decide if I should send back an assignment w/ Kemp & Associates. The deceased person is a relative that I had no prior knowledge of before they contacted me. Someone please respond..other relatives have all sent their "assignments" back to Kemp, but I am still skeptical. I am trying to get in touch with the probate county clerk where my relative passed. I found the court appointed administrator and spoke with him regarding this probate case and told him about Kemp's involvement and he seemed to think it was just another lawyer representing my other family members, he seemed "helpful" but I think he's also playing dumb to the fact that I am calling him and he should have notified me! I read the prior post about me not needing anyone to claim what's entitled to me but Kemp makes it sound as though I need Geneological proof up the wazzoo that I alone cannot get, but the prior post said that that is the court appointed administrator's job, so it's already been proven, right?!Please someone if you have advice I really could use it now. Thank you.
- a lawyer replies to kittyno, the ESTATE does not pay their fee, it comes out of the share YOU would have gotten for free.
- Frank M| 1 replyWell, I got a call from them and they only want 20%. I appreciate all the comments here as I am completely new to this problem. It seems that once you realize that there is a lost relative you could contact the court administrator and make a investigation of your own. Although I would still be inclined to let Kemp do the work.

- billybob replies to Frank MMy wife submitted her proof of relationship papers to Kemp in July of 2010, for a relative she never met. It was a cousin to her mother, and because her mother was deceased the inheritance went to her children. It took about a year, but she recieved a check from Kemp for over 4,000 dollars. And all she did was send some forms to Kemp, as I said to prove she was a relative and thats it! It was well worth it and this is not a scam. I wouldn't have even known about this person or even how to investigate on my own. So thank you Kemp!
- Skeptical replies to KathleenNow Kathleen, I'm sure that you don't work for kemp - but I do want to ask why in the world are you even on this board? Did you just decide to to check out the 800 notes website and then maybe say to yourself, "What the heck, right - I'll type in Kemp's phone number. After all, they're a great company that helped me out tremendously. maybe I should see what others are typing about Kemp - Yay!!!" Save your BS for idiots like you that think 33% is a legitimate percentage to pay out on a legitamite inheritance - ridiculous. If what you type is true I'm honestly very sad for you.......
- joan porteous| 1 replyI got a phone call on my answering machine yester from a Robert Barrett telling me that I am the stepdaughter of Ellen Shaw-Porteous-Latimer which is correct. (She passed away December 17, 2006). He wanted to know the whereabouts of her surviving nephews. I phoned back when I got home and a recording came on that my call did not go through. I kept trying and I got the same message. Why would this person want to know this information? I do not want this to happen again. I went into Google and read some reports on this organization and I think they are a scam. I found out the caller company by going into Google and typing in Robert Barrett in Salt Lake City Utah. This organization is a scam and I don't know how this Robert Barrett even got my step mother's information. Oh yes, he said on his message he was from Salt Lake City.

- Locutis of Borg replies to joan porteousThese people started calling a bunch of my cousins, aunts and uncles after I told them NO THANKS. It's comforting to know that they want to get the estate to the proper person. And still no definate answer on how big the estate must be to arouse their interest.
- Joseph Doty| 1 replyHaving worked with K & A for years, I have been involved in numerous cases less than $100,000. I have also worked many cases where the net estate (after payment of the decedent's debts) was less than $25,000
