- disabled and fighting eviction... replies to Fed Up CollectorYou are the bad guys... you are told we have no money and you keep harassing us with a call everyday. If I didn't have a stroke and could go back to work, maybe I could pay back a small credit card that ballooned with late fees that caused over limit fees and each month they balloon it more so the debt can never be paid. You are bad...

- ANNOYEDAt least once a year I get a call from this number asking to speak to Kathryn Minnum? Don't know anyone by that name. Don't know anyone named Kathryn. Why do they call once a year for her? Previous person living in our home was not a Kathryn. Previous people who had our phone number -- no Kathryn? Why do they keep calling?????????
- Caller: Not Provided
- Annoyed replies to Fed Up CollectorDebt collectors are useless and just trying to make a profit off of other peoples' unfortunate situations (aka recent practices and issues with the mortgage industry)
Before an account is charged-off and sent to collections or a debt buyer, it remains in the hands of the original creditor. In some cases, the original creditor may choose to continue to collect after the charge-off, depending on the infrastructure in place at the particular company. The key difference is that original creditors are not covered under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. This means that original creditors are allowed to use tactics that are off limits to collection agencies and debt buyers. Some states have laws in place to regulate the tactics used by original creditors, so be sure to check with your state. If your state does not have regulations in place, you should report unfair practices to the FTC for further investigation. Also, keep in mind that original creditors are typically much more likely to work with you. Take action at this stage if at all possible. Communicate with the original creditor and be active and honest about your situation. - LorettaI just got a call from this number . One of many. Am I going to deny being in debt no . But it isn't because I am a deadbeat . My husband was on life support over five months last year. He was our only income. He is now on disability . So yes my bills got behind our credit score was 896 before his illness . 30 years struggling to keep a good name all for nothing . Being honest about my situation with my creditors only helped with my Mortgage. The Auto loan or credit card people could care less about your situation no matter how good of a customer you have been. And Medical debt from my husbands hospital stay even with insurance was in excess of one million dollars . So don't just assume that someone is a dead beat if they cannot make payments . Sometimes there are situations beyond their control . I will block this number and any other harassing me . Not because I do not want to pay but because I don't have anything left to give .
- ElSoneDo replies to Fed Up CollectorAnd what about when I receive phone calls constantly for family members? Telling them I do not care it is not my problem if family members do not pay their debts, all while asking to be removed from the call list and still getting calls from the same agencies.
- Truthistruth replies to Professional Recovery ServicesSo sad for you, I will pray for you clearly you need it to use our Lords name like that. As to the collection business that you claim to represent,I hope that you realize that there are people using the same name to steal from people? It happens every day, personally I would never pay anyone but the actual business that I owe the money to and yes even when it goes into collection, it has happened to even me before but the business had the phone number and business information.
- Rebecca replies to Fed Up CollectorThe debt collection companies are the dummies that buy bad debt! Don't like your job, quit!

- O'Dawg| 1 replyA low talker called where "debt collector" was the only thing I could make out.
- Call type: Debt collector
- BigA replies to O'DawgFederal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
