- Don't answer unless you know the callerI do agree that the constant calling is annoying, but the solution that works for me is simple.... I DON'T ANY CALLS WHOSE NUMBER I DON'T RECOGNIZE... F it... leave me several messages, 10 a day for all I care. I'll go through my voicemails when there are 15 accrued. I press 66 and the audio message is sped up so I don't have to sit through 2-3 minutes of my life listening to an automated message - I've heard them before (see above for the most common). I'll keep pressing 7 until all 15 voicemails are deleted. All the while, rolling my eyes and laughing... HA - Like I'll call them back. Please people... spare yourself the anxiety and anger. Instead, invest your energy in brighter things. With love and blessings! =D
- Caller: Probably a debt collector or attorney. Don't know... don't care.

- Lexi replies to Fed Up CollectorUm, I worked in real estate, lost my job 2x in 22 months and the 2nd job was a huge step down pay wise from the 1st and then I was laid off entirely. Now I work for myself but for much less than I used to. NOW, I've been dealing with debt collectors because of having no money, NOT a lack of desire to pay off my debts, thank you, for long enough to know that you'll NEVER get me to feel sorry for one! I've been cussed out, screamed at, threatened, lied to and told to [***] myself out because they wanted their money. No, I'm not kidding!
So puh-leeze, stop with the song and dance about 'you can work out it'...sometimes you can but when debt collectors buy debts, which they do all, just FYI, for pennies on the dollar, they're betting they can harass people into breaking down and paying for it. Um, no! If I didn't have money when BoA was harassing me, your buying my debt did not grow a $ tree in my yard!
I got taken to court because my $50/month 'wasn't gonna cut it'...they get $25/month now. I know the laws, my rights and the rest of it so trying to shame people into things or trying to get people to feel badly for debt collectors isn't gonna happen any sooner than my vote for Obama....both will happen 5 minutes past never! And if you're going to leave me a 5 minute long message and then say 'please call' but not gonna tell me who the heck you are or what "personal matter" it's regarding, you'll not get a call back... - lost in translation replies to Fed Up CollectorWith all the scams going on right now calling someone to ask them to wire money or give your account information over the phone is insane if anyone even thinks of doing that. You get a call from an unknown caller. The first thing they ask is if you are the person of interest. Then they ask for your date of birth, then the last 4 of your social. This without even knowing who you are talking to on the other end. Anyone who gives this information up over just a phone call is gullible and will probably be taken for some money. Collection agencies use to have to notify you by mail and give you 30 days to dispute the claim before turning up the heat. This written notice identifies the claim and the collection agency. That gives a person time to research everything and will therefore know that it is legitimate. Just calling someone at random, not identifying yourself and the company your with is all highly suspect and against the law. I have no pity for a collection agency and the job they do. Most are a bunch of sleazes that do not follow the law. The ones that do follow the law, they have a tough job. Most people I know do not have a pot of gold they are hiding and would rather be harassed everyday instead of paying their bills. Majority of people who do not pay their bills do so because they lack the funds and the ability to pay. The majority that have the funds to pay their bills do pay. To assume that someone has skipped out on paying just to skip is ridiculous. Most people today are trying to figure out whether to put food on the table or pay the rent.

Were you planning on stealing the money from the bank to start with?
Do you go through your live stealing from everyone you can? If you are on welfare or unemployment, then the answer is yes. Your goal in live is steal from other people. Congrats, at least you are succesful at one thing in life. GET A JOB! Stop being a loser. Pay your bills.- Caller: DNC-Losers for Life

- RS replies to Nunya| 1 replyThose DEBT COLLECTORS are nothing more than VULTURES....
In fact i think that's an offense for the poor VULTURES! - Fed up WITH collectors replies to Fed Up CollectorTo answer your question...you're the bad guy when you don't do your research and start harrassing an innocent person.
The problem is that a lot of times the collector has the wrong phone number or person. And then it's all out harrassment. And they don't listen when you tell them you have the wrong person. This has happened to me several times and I don't owe anyone a dime. Make sure you have the right person before you start harrassing people. Sometimes it's as simple as using the phone directory. - Disgusted800-915-1016
THEY'RE CROOKS & DO NOT ACCEPT THAT THEY'VE CALLED A WRONG NUMBER. PERSISTENT, BY THE TIME THEY'RE DONE WITH YOU; YOU BELIEVE SOMEHOW, SOMEWAY, YOU'RE IN DEBT AND ARE TO SEND THEM MONEY SO THEY'LL QUIT HARASSING YOU
