The Verbatim Carmin - Ford Explorer message as above. Not a scam, just a marketing ploy.

I called them back. They said it was for a timeshare proposal on Hilton Head island. You listen to 90 min. sales pitch and they pay for your stay for up to 4 nights dependant on the start day. I Spoke with Virginia and she gave me her rep # and a different number to call back if I wanted to do it. 800-310-6991. When it is all done you are "guaranteed" one of the prizes (Ford Explorer, Bahaman Trip, Plasma TV).

My guess is you get a scratch off ticket from some other vendor/sponsor when you are done and if you win it will probably be the TV, which you would then have to jump through a bunch of hoops to attain. So with this voucher the call originating company can advertise the "guaranteed prize" for any number of sales pitches (not just a Hilton Head Timeshare) for many different companies. One giant sweepstakes with almost no chance of actually winning the SUV, but legit none-the-less.

However, a 4 night Hilton Head vacation for 90 minutes of my time (give or take) sounds pretty good.

Wow...seems like 'Carmen' gets around!  I got the same message from her at on my voice mail at work.  I 'googled' her phone # and here I am.  Thank you, all of you for posting information about this scam.

Same got a call today

I just recently, tonight actually, got a voicemail from a women who gave me the 1-800-918-4224 number and a claim number of FNTP3112 and told me to call as soon as possible. But when I went to further details in my voicemail it told me the call came in at 6:01pm and from 434-878-9976, not the toll free number given. I tried calling both numbers but after 20 seconds it gave me the busty signal. I didn't actually talk to anyone since I keep my phone off most of the time, so I have no idea what this is about. How do I block it?

I just got my call about 5 minutes ago...  They say "great minds think alike", which explains why we are all out here posting our experiences.

They said cal back its really important and urgent and u must call back.

They claimed that they want to give me a prize (Ford Explorer) and gave me a claim number.  This is a big scam.  The person identified herself as Carrie.

She started talking before the voicemail started. "...Dollars.." was what I heard at the beginning. After that, I was just annoyed.

Same as all the others:

I just received the same message: "Hi this is MANDY calling from the Awards Claim Center. We have been trying to reach you regarding our promotion to receive a brand new Ford Explorer or $25,000 cash. Please give me a call as soon as possible. I have great news for you. My toll-free number is 1-800-918-4224 and your claim number is ****. It is very important you give us a call as soon as possible. This is the last time we will try to reach you. Thank you and have a great day."

They called my work phone after work hours last friday.  I came in this morning and listened to the voicemail message:

"I've got some great news for you.  I need you to call me as soon as possible. My telephone number is 1-800-918-4224 and your claim number is gonna be ALP9000.  It is very important that you give us a call as soon as possible thank you and have a great day."

I have the exact same voice mail (twice now actually) one on my cellphone and one on my office phone this morning.  Only difference being that my stalker is called Crystal...not Carmen.  Mildly curious as to how they got both my direct lines. Thank you all for posting this number here.

Yes, thanks for starting this up.  My first reason to believe that it was a scam is that the woman did not state from where she was calling.  i thought it was very unprofessional but I was scared because she said the call was urgent.  Thank you so much for the help!

regarding the "guaranteed" prize, my wife and I were naive enough to believe one of these calls and attended one of the seminars (to sell time shared vacation homes); poor enough that could not afford anything (lucky us!, got one of these vouchers for free trips to Hawaii. Called the number on the voucher, found out that need $50 to "confirm", stupid enough to send them a check, got another coupon a week later, called yet another number, informed that need to pay another $50 (or $100, don't remember) to order the tickets and hotel, got a bit less stupid this time and asked for details, told that tickets would get us to Hawaii around mid-night on first day and back 4AM the third day(!!); what a joke!

Alexis called me.  Same line of BS. I'm going to call back and tell her the same thing and ask for her credit card munber.  Hope she likes that.  If I get it, I'll post it here.

I called the number back before I looked on this site. The number that appeared on my caller ID was 434-878-9976 which when called was a non working number. That should have been my clue not to call the number left on my voicemail. I then called the number left on my voicemail of 800-918-4224. I was put on hold and someone finally answered about 3 minutes later.  I started asking what company this was associated with and this "ghetto fabulous" sounding lady told me I was breaking up and then hung up on me.
I do not know what the angle is but I believe it is a SCAM.

Received Voice Message at NJ State owned office unpublished private line:
"Hi this is Carmen calling from the Awards Claim Center. We have been trying to reach you for sometime regarding our promotion to receive a brand new Ford Explorer or $25,000.00 CASH. Have some good news for you. I need you to give me a call as soon as possible. My toll-free number is 1-800-918-4224 and your claim number is FNJ3112. It is very important you give us a call as soon as possible. Thank you and have a great day."

No Caller ID. but online research identifies the group as a time/share , vacation, condo type scam.

I just got the same exact call that Arny had back in Feb.
I'm in california, so looks like they've finally moved west.
Didn't bother to call back after finding this site.

Recieved it, called it, did the whole thing, fell into the stupid trap...
What do i do about it... how do i get them to stop calling? let me know
