Scammers don't care how old you are (probably not a good idea to put that out where everyone can see that by the way)-all they care about is getting money that is not theirs

You answered the phone in some way. These calls are often not directed at anyone in particular, but whoever answers the phone or hears the message. They're unlikely to provide you with any straight answers since not all scammers prepare that far ahead. It doesn't matter if you're 12, or 112, crooks will attempt to rip off anyone they can with threats. Had you told them your age, you'd probably hear your parents owe it, or the caller will either cuss you out or hang up.

Pre-teens seem to have an urge to tell people online how old they are; the urge lessens as they get into their teens and learn some life lessons not to blab so much.

Received a text message stating, "Your Authentication Code - (some random code here). If you have not requested this code for (my phone number here), please contact us immediately at 800-922-0204."

Google results for the 800 number indicate it's a spoofed Verizon number being used for a refund scam.

I work for Verizon (Enterprise side, not Wireless) and I got a call from this number too.  I will check to see if this is actually one of our numbers and will report back what I find.

I received this phone call just now and didn't answer it but they left a message with 3 seconds of Verizon's hold music. This number has been used for service and for scams.

This number is Verizon and is legit.  They called and left a message stating that someone with a thick eastern accent called and tried to get some account information.  The message suggested that I instate a four digit security PIN on their IVR system.

I received a call from a person named "Henry Wilson" saying that he was with Verizon Fraud Department.  I was immediately alerted and did not give him any information until I checked with Verizon Fraud Department.

I too have gotten taken by Verizon, and they are continually trying to add more costs to my plan; daily.  This number did call today, showing as a Verizon number - buyer beware with the false advertising, fake fees, lies, and outright disrespect to customers.  They escalate to what is now known as their "Executive Relations Team" that changes so often they require revolving extensions but never an offer of assistance, only add more data at $20 for 4GB every two weeks (how could anyone use that much to require constant increases)?  Email execs get this same reply.    Verizon is simply another Comcast - the worst reputation I know for businesses in this country.  I am told, "you are wrong, and you must pay for these services we guaranteed as free and less than Sprint - now constantly rising at far greater rate than Sprint".
