Answered the call, already knowing it is a scam.  I asked him who he was calling, and he knew my name.  I seldom give out my number, so does anyone know how they knew my name?

the person tried to get me to tell him my last name first and my first name and wanted to know how I wanted my 426.00 refund of being over billed last month. did I want it to be a visa money card?. I told him if he were from Verizon, then he knows my last name and he knows the person on the account if I were a Verizon customer. after 5 times,he hung up

I would think if Verizon had over-billed someone they would simply credit the amount toward the next bill instead of offering a refund.

Just got a call from them, they told me I overpayed and asked how I would like my refund. I said credit account, they asked for the pin which I have considering it was Verizon's technical support number. When they asked for name I only gave them the first name. They asked for the last name and I said if you are looking at my account you can see the last name. They hung up.  Changed pin immediately, will update if something happens.

This is a scam. They pretend to be Verizon, they are not. they search numbers and can see who your phone carrier is, then call and say they are Verizon and give everyone different spiels. Twice they called and told me they over charged last month and that they wanted to know how I wanted my refund, asking for account details. I told them I’m not even an account holder, I’m just one number in a family plan with no access to the main account or billing, and they hang up every time.
Verizon knows who hold the main accounts, and our account even has a pin we need to give to make any changes, they also would just give you credit in next months bill if you over paid and send you a notice in mail. The Verizon help desk has confirmed this. They are just fishing for info and accounts. Block them and report to FCC.

This is my 4th scam call of the day--happens every day (except Sunday) but with different #'s. Each time the phone rings 2 or 3 times and then a hang up no message. This call came in at 5:20 pm, so I knew it was not a work call. I didn't recognize the number, so it was not a friend.  Blocking.

I have had this number call multiple times today so I finally picked up, I didn't say anything at all... Just listened... They didn't speak either, we just sat there listening to the silence for 3 minutes then they hung up. They didn't call back.

Yup... spam caller, but I answered to see. The accent was the instant clue that something was up. Apparently, I'd received a credit and he wanted to know how I wanted to receive it.  'Send me a gift card, thanks.'
'Okay..I'll need to know your name and address.'
'You already have it on file! Hey, I've got a meeting to go to, so... (CLICK!)'

    Mmhmm...yeah.

Caller did not identify themselves. I picked up, there was silence, then a very loud chirp and a robotic female voice saying "Goodbye." They proceeded to hang up.
