I have been receiving calls from this number for the better part of a year. Over a year ago, I went to the Waco Scott & White Emergency Room and they sent me a bill. The first time I got a call, they told me I still needed to pay for the visit and I told them that I was pretty sure I did but I checked and sent a payment to S&W within a couple days. Now for the past year, just when I think it's all cleared up, they call me again! I've received AT LEAST 20 calls regarding the same thing like the last call never happened.

    >> called back using #67 <<

8xx (toll free) numbers can see YOUR Caller ID, even though you use *67.  Fact.

Why did you call the unknown caller back?

If the call was from a legitimate source, they would (most likely) have left a message on your answering device or voicemail.

If the call was from a scammer, calling back merely did one or more of the following:

    * Verified your phone number, and that it would be answered by a human.
    * Possibly incurred international calling charges (some scammers are located in Jamaica [876] and other overseas locations)
    * Bothered somebody not associated with the scam - scammers can spoof what you see on the Caller ID!
    * If the call was from a telemarketer, your call to them could be interpreted as starting a "business relationship", so the telemarketer could legally continue to call you!
    * Added your phone number to a list that is sold or shared among scammers of various types, so even more would try to call you.

Instead of calling back, either ignore the call or get a call blocker to prevent further calls from that number!  (Remember, the DNC list is intended ONLY to block calls from legitimate telemarketers).

Scary!! They called me asking for a big payment that my insurance already did, they asked me for information on my bank account, address, etc. I told her that I was going to pay if I have to pay, so she gave me the "opportunity" to pay just the half of the amount if i pay it before a week. I did not gave her my account information, I told her that I was going to go personally to the place where I was supposed to pay. I went to the bank, got out my my money to make that payment and when I got there... The very kind lady told me that my amount to pay is: $0.00. She googled this phone number and told me about this.

    Be very careful!!

I actually worked here right out of college making $10/hour. Yes it is a collections company. Yes a computer usually calls first and then automatically routes it to our line to either ask for the proper person or leave a message. As much as it sucks getting these calls I can promise it sucks making about 200 of these in a day. All the accounts we called on were for medical bills that were handed over to us from hospitals or other medical facilities that were sitting in their system as unpaid for a certain amount of time.

Sometimes your insurance just didn't cover everything and sometimes your insurance just completely missed paying at all. Different clients who hand over accounts run "promos" (I'm not sure if that's the right word in this case) where you can just pay a lower amount than your full amount owed to get it cleared completely.

You're probably thinking I'm a company rep or something but I can promise you I don't care much for the business itself. I just know that there are some good people working there just stuck in a [***] job.

lol... I play the who are you?  game when they call.  I repeatedly tell them that  I don't know who they are,  I have never done business with anyone named financial corporation,  I never give out my social or my name to people I don't know, why would you call someone you don't know and think it is ok to ask them personal questions? don't call me again or I"ll report you...
Then when they argue (and they will)  start the game all over again  until they hang up.  they are pretty funny when they get mad.  Now they call only once a month or so.  just make sure you do not answer any of their questions...

They filed for Chapter 11 then Chapter 7.   No wonder they are ignoring the FDCPA and other various state laws.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
