I called back and got the San Francisco Chronicle Sales Division.  I'm currently on hold waiting for a sales rep, so I can request to be removed from their calling list.

This is the San Francisco Chronicle Sales Department.  I tried calling back the 800 number, waited for 20 minutes with no luck and gave up.  

To get on their do-not-call list, call 415-777-7000 and press zero for an operator.  Calling the 415 number, I got through to an operator in less than a minute.  

I'm not positive how carefully they follow the do-not-call list.  I got on the do-not-call list yesterday and was called again today.  Blah.  I called the 415 number again to remind them that I am on the do-not-call list.  The operator did notice that I was on the list and noted on my account that I received a call while being on the list.  Hopefully the telemarketing will end.

Got a call from this number...it's the outside sales division of the San Francisco Chronicle...they're trying to sell newspaper subscriptions

sounded like young woman with hispanic accent left msg saying "hello? hello?" then as she was hanging up "guess she's too busy to mess with me."

They can wipe their ass with the paper.

Keep getting a call from 800-975-0791.  a man keeps shouting out hello, then hangs up. i just called (415) 777-1111 wich is the SF # and spoke with customer service who then transfered me to someone else to help. I was told my number wouldn't be called again. Also it seemed a bit weird when I was talking to the lady helping me, she kept asking me to repeat my phone number, and address(i dont knw why the address was needed, but I didnt trust her so I didnt give her the correct address) We'll see if the calls stop!
