This number is from people who are scamming off of eBay postings. They try to make a deal with you off of eBay but they don't send you certified funds. BEWARE!

I didn't recognize the number so I didn't pick it up.

They do call when you have a larger amount of sales. I normally calls on tips to maximize business a few times a year.

The messages listed here that claim this is legit are the scammers themselves. Never give personal info. And call eBay directly. You will be glad you did. 801

If it IS EBay (I refuse to answer unknown #'s but this one called me twice today until I blocked it) then they somehow have my cell that isn't in use on eBay. Seems to be a scam considering that others on this site confirmed they called eBay and were told this is NOT one of their numbers. Look folks, if you call and they say they're ebay but randomly calling you out of the blue on a number that's never been in use on eBay, take it as a scam! How'd they get this #??  It's like the IRS scam... the IRS will never call you and ask for money, & eBay will never call you out of the blue on an unpublished number never used on their site! It's scammers trying to gain your trust. Don't buy into it.. that's how people end losing thousands of dollars...

801-545-1800 is part of the eBay marketing team in Utah.  They make customer calls and promote  eBay's Seller Stores programs to inactive and active Sellers.  They have called me several times over the years and I just let them know I am not interested.

If you have an eBay account you can change your notification preferences in your account settings to prevent eBay marketing calls such as this.  Search the eBay help pages for the procedure to change your marketing notification settings.

If there is a problem with your account this marketing team will not call you.  You will only receive account notifications in an email in your eBay "My Messages" folder----- they will not call you!

It is a legit number for an Authorized Ebay entity.  They handle the non-technical aspect of customer issues, both positive and negative.  They call mostly just to make you aware an issue exists, not necessarily a bad issue.  I have received legit calls from this number for over 3 years.  FYI, this is a 3rd party call center, contracted and authorized by Ebay to handle certain aspects of Ebay Business.  This hub handles calls for over 20 other companies besides Ebay. Among other companies, they handle a portion of the west coast calls for HFS which is the parent company of a number of national hotel chains, they do calls for Enterprise Rent a Car, but the bulk of these call centers business revolves around Credit Card related matters.  It is no coincidence that these call centers are located mostly in Utah, South Dakota, and Connecticut as they are the States which have the most liberal credit card laws.

To determine if the calls are legit, simply ask them to verify the information of the account for which they are calling you about.  You can request to have a call made to you from the actual company and not a contracted call center.

About 950 calls on this thread and I count  297 or about 31 percent , as shill posts.  The shillers basically posting to  tell everyone how "legit" this number is.

This number is  most likely part of a larger fraud campaign targeting the customers of large-scale financial or commercial institutions.

The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real,   is evidence of con artists spamming the site to try to fool people.

This  scam is well documented.  Simply google it out.  Based  on my research this scam has been going on since about 2008.

T hese type of calls follow a  similar pattern.  They all  claim to be from groups like Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, Fifth Third Bank, US Bank, Wells Fargo, RBC, PayPal, e-bay etc as well as Credit Unions.  Or claim to be CC processors.  All with the same type of   postings.  Alll claiming there is something wrong with your card or account number or  that some questionable purchase has been made.  Or something similar.  They all ask for personal or personal financial information.

Just part of the shillers  criminal MO.

I've noticed the  shill posters often use the same turns of phrase.  Same old, same old verbiage telling  everyone how "legit" the calls are.

Personally I think the group or groups  posting this shillage-spillage are located in either the US or Canada, or perhaps both.  They may also be working with scammers outside of North America.  In this case they may be from the Philippines.

In any event , never give out any personal or financial information to anyone who cold calls you.  If there are any problems with your card, or financial account number always call the number on the back of the card or the official number on the monthly statement you receive.

This is 100% legit. I never got my money back from a return from an eBay user. I returned an item and never got a refund. After the 8 days I had them call me to step in, they called within a minute and took over my case and gave me my full refund. They don't ask for any info other then your full name which is in their system so they can confirm. So I agree with your info also that this is a legit number.

I've been on Ebay for years, and they do call occasionally to go over policy changes and the like, or to ask how some service was and how we liked/or would change it.

I contacted eBay today, regarding a problem with my account that couldn't be corrected online.  After 15 mins with the agent, we were disconnected, and they called me back IMMEDIATELY from this number.  It's not a scam.  It's nothing more than customer service at eBay.

If you use the eBay "Call me now" feature for customer service, this is the same number that will call you back (at least that was the case with me).  And don't forget, eBay exchanges information with PayPal, since they now own it, so if you have a different (or additional) phone number with PayPal, eBay very well may use it to reach you.  If they're calling asking for money, OBVIOUSLY it's a scam, but I've never had a call from this number that asked for money.  It was always in response to my inquiry with eBay customer service.

Yes this is an eBay number. Got call regarding a listing problem. Minutes after call also got message through eBay.

Total SCAM!!!! my number ISN"T associated with either eBay or Paypal. More than likely your email server that you have communications with eBay or Paypal with has been hacked! You are now targeted for identity theft. Do yourself a favor and secure everything you care about today. If you don't there is a good chance that you could loose everything that you have ever worked for or will ever have in the future. I am still paying for identity theft 10 years later.

The CallerID telephone number may be an actual eBay phone number, but ANY CallerID number can be SPOOFED to make a call from a VOIP call look legitimate.

I got a call and hung up when the person asked for personal information.

I am NOT an eBay seller, and the company has not contacted me through my account or by email.  So, I assume that it's a scam attempt.

Here's something half the post here claim, legit. The other half scam! Half? of the people saying it's Ebay would have no reason to post here. Because they knew from the beginning it was legit. Any use the app to hit contact-us .. They will call you back, the number shows up as UNKNOWN. NO NUMBER at all. So this is a SCAM

I posted the last 3 messages saying it was a scam. Let me retract them like a [***]. They called back to confirm a coupon i had called about. That's how i knew it their number was unknown. Turns out its a Real number and they left a message confirming. Sorry guys .. It's totally legit
