Also forgot to mention that I did try calling the number they gave in the message to find out what it was all about.  The number did not go through at all after I tried calling it twice.  Finally, I would like to say that I gotten this call on Friday... what legal service that requires me to respond will be available on the weekends?

Advised they were looking for a J Rodriguez and asked for the first three of my social. I gave only the first three numbers and advised I was not the person they were looking for. Name of the "private investigator" was Angela Wright.

    Distraught
My wife and I just got back into town. A voice mail message was left by some Asian sounding woman identifying herself as a special investigator, Kim Reeves. She urged my wife to seek and attorney within 48 hours regarding some complaint and restraining order lodged against her, and an affidavit number was even given.  My wife is emotionally distraught over this nonsense. She called the number and an answering machine idenditied itself as Central Legal Network, some collection agency.

These guys called me tonight as well, I just filed a complaint and flagged my credit reports because the supposed debt is bogus.
Yes a credit card debtor can sue a consumer, but they will have a a lawyer involved that you can speak to as well as being served by your local sheriff's dept. I just found this out from a friend that went through credit counseling.
If these people supposedly have a restraining order and a summons, than they would have been able to find you and have the sheriffs dept serve you. What amazing [***].
The number that was given to call back was 813-863-1962 one digit off from 1961 same message though from a special investigator letting me know I had 48 hours or a restraining order would be put in place.

Recieved call today from Special INV. Leann Murray. Same story line as all others listed on this post. Exact all the way down to the Good Luck at end of script. I called them i tried everything to get their adress from them to supposedly mail them a check, but nothing doing, would not give address no how no way, not even with promise of mailing check. They would only accept bank account info. If anyone can get their address the FTC would like to have it. DO NOT GIVE THESE SCAMMERS ANY MONEY.NOT ONE DIME.

Got the same message, worried my wife a little until I explained to her what was going on - - I've seen it before.  These guys are even worse than most, but the hilarious part is the threat of a restraining order.  Do they even know what a restraining order is?  If they want to serve me papers not allowing me to have contact with them, tell me where I can pick them up!  I think they figure if they work enough legal mumbo jumbo in it will scare people.  Stupid boiler room collectors, buy cheap debt and try to harass money out of you.

I am so sick of getting called by scammer after scammer.  That's 3 in 3 weeks by different people.  This time, "Special Investigator" "Kevin Brown" called from a witheld number and told me I have 24 to 48 hours to respond (24 or 48?  pick one, idiot) and this is regarding a pending legal suit and that I must appear (is it pending or am I appearing?).  He also told me I have a restraining order.  How am I supposed to meet you in court if I have a restraining order, BTW?

Anyway, I called the number back just to yell at them, I got some girl who didn't identify herself, told her I know she's a scammer and she is to remove me from their phone call list, they are breaking a bunch of laws, I have reported them to the FBI, the FTC, and my state A.G., etc., etc.  I tore her a new one.  I also informed her that just last week the FBI released their list of top scams and this was named as the #1 scam and a warning has been issued about them (which is true).  She was speechless.  I asked her why she was still there, since she was just sitting on the other end not saying anything.

They do, Megan, and then they post good things about themselves on this website when they find their number, saying things like "these are real debt collectors and they made me a great deal and I'm so happy I paid them", or "these people are real.  They came to my work and served me with papers yesterday, I wish I had just paid them when they 1st called me".  But usually they have poor spelling and grammar when they post this stuff, so you can spot them a mile away.

I called back and asked the person I got their name and address.  She asked why, and I said I've been talking with the FBI and they'd like to come down there and talk to her.  She promptly put me into a message that says, "Sorry, the person you are trying to reach is not available".

Question:  Have any of you recently applied for a credit card online?  I started getting a bunch of these calls like a week after I applied for a credit card last summer.

The actual phone number was listed as unknown so I did not answer it. They left a voicemail in which a man said this call was for so and so (but he had my last name wrong). He said his name was Special Investigator John Washington and that I was named as a respondant prusuint to some claim number and something about a restraining order and that I must call 813-863-1961 immediately and to pass this information on to my attorney (which I don't have) and that I had 24-48 hours to respond.

He did not list the name of the company he was calling for.
He did not list a verifiable reason for the message....he listed no debt nor that this was a debt collection agency
He called too early in the morning
He also called my mother...I have no idea how he got her number. He left the same message about me on her machine.
    He had my name wrong.
Don't they have to serve you papers to take you to court? Also, I have never even been to Tampa FL.
If this is debt related they never mentioned it. (I have one outstanding cc debt for about $250 that I can't pay right now.)
After reading other complaints I realize this is just a scam company and if it is a debt collection they just violated a bunch of laws and I have the voicemail to prove it. I also reported them to the FTC and Florida Attorney General. I was able to find out through internet searches they are in Tampa, FL and if you call the number it's a message saying Sundial Legal Group.

I will not be giving them any information and if this happens again will seek legal action. They have no right to call my mother and they have no right to threaten a restraining order over the phone...I must be served papers I know that much.
