I got this phone call this morning,just like the rest of you from Heather Howard was her name. Do I owe a little money, yes. They offered to let me make monthly payments from my debit card, and when I tried, they said this paricular debit card couldn't be used. They required a green dot card because any other card wouldn't allow automatic withdrawl. I explained that it wasn't true, because I have auto draft for many things, car insurance, cell phones,etc. She said they'd hold my account until Friday, or they would proceed to serve me with lawsuit papers. She said they'd been trying to serve me for sometime now with no luck. I've read all the posts, and it seems they can't sue you for an old credit card debt. That's what I'd like to believe, is it ok to ignore them? I called back to ask them for written debt verification, and the man this time got upset, and said, is this what you want then, to be served!!!  What do I do????

Has anyone been able to obtain a physical address for these people?  I recieved the Same call from "tamika" yesterday. after speaking to an attorney I was told many scammers are calling themselves "special investigators" and If they dont have info on the signed ledgers, loan amounts etc they are more than likely illegit. I am trying to collect as much info regarding this company in hopes of filing a lawsuit. I have also contacted the attourney general in my state and well as Florida and the FTC. Please do the same and assist me in getting as much info about this company as possible.

Same here, got a call from Leanne Murry and said she was a special Investigator with some law firm and that they wanted to serve me with an order to Show Cause Contains a Restraining Order, etc..  She said there was a contact number of 813-863-1961.

I just filed a complaint against them too. Your story is exactly what they did to me.

They informed me that they were looking for someone with the same name as my husband, (who has an extremely common name.) They then told me that if I couldn't give them his first 3 of his SSN they would just see him in court to "battle it out." I was very persistent that they give me a peice of info. that could verify they were speaking with the correct household, and it turns out they were looking for a different person, a guy with the same name but different middle initial than my husband. I guess they just look up numbers for and make threatening calls to every "John Smith" until they find the right one.

I got the same message today. I called the Federal Trade Commission and filed a complaint along with the Florida States Attorney's office. According to the FAIR DEBT COLLECTIONS ACT. Which is a law to protect consumers they are not allowed and must send you written notice of any action pending along with the details of any debt. They are ridiculous and if they call me back they are a going to hear an earful and let them know NO I filed a complaint with the FTC & FLSA and your company is in violation of the FAIR DEBT COLLECTIONS ACT. So have fun being investigated and according to the law I can sue your company for harrassment. Have a great day and Good luck and then hang up!!!

Got this call today myself, for my daughter in law. Did the same thing. Got upset and bent out of shape.
Called her and told her about the call. She googled Melissa Rhoades and came to this web site. After reading this I sure can breath easier. My daughter in law is a paralegal and told me this scare tatic is illegal.  I am so glad she is so smart...

I received the same message today from a Robert Johnson of the Central Legal Services for my husband who also has a very common name! We are new to the area and have a new phone number. I felt better after finding your website regarding this scam.

Yep, I just got a message on my machine from a Leanne Murray stating that she has a pursuant to claim affidavit number? and also something about a restraining order? the part that really gave it away was the 24-48 hours to have me or my attorney respond to this number. that is a classic debt collector scare. you gotta kidding me. they can kiss my ass. if they wanna serve me, then serve me. DELETE MESSAGE.

get back at these scammers. just call the number they left  1-813-863-1961 and hang up when somebody answers. do it about 20-30 times in a row. they will get the message, no business for them and they will be forced to get a real job and stop harassing and scamming people.

I'm glad I googled that number. I got the same message just like everybody else. I wasn't too worried but thought I would look into it. I'm not gonna bother calling them back. I thought this harassing [***] is illegal? She gave me the same spiel as above. What really annoyed me was at the end of the message, she had the gall to say "good luck". HAHAHA!!! Well, if any of those [***] are reading this... GOOD LUCK!!!!

I'm so glad I googled this. I got that message this morning and knew it was strange. I will be filing a complaint.

Rather alarming message, though....

Ya I got the same thing, but they left it on my 14 yr old sons voicemail and I basically told them they ever call that number again I would be the one suing them for contacting my minor child.  And weird that I called and then hung up and called back to tell them to remove my childs number and the same person answered....  People are crazy, they were speaking of a debt of mine but it had already been sent to another collection agency whom I was dealing with.  Not to mention I cannot for the life of me figure out how they got my sons cellphone number.  I am calling my cell provided Tmobile and asking them WTF how is that number getting out.

ya she said good luck at the end too,,,,  it is really crazy but the economy sucks....  thank Obama for bailing out the big CC companies were is the forgiveness for the people layed off out of work. and being harrassed..  whatever
