Received a telephone call from (813) 899-7569 this morning, the telephone rang five (5) times then the caller hung up.   The caller left no voice mail message. I do accept telephone calls from unknown parties nor do I return telephone calls to someone who does not leave a voice mail message.

This is the second phone call I received from this number purporting to be a "courtesy call" for my spouse on official business.  Yet this is an entity with which we have no official business.  THIS COMPANY POSSESSES ALL THE TRAITS OF A FRAUDULENT ENTERPRISE.  If you receive a call from them, report them to the Do Not Call Registry (if you are are registered).  If,  heaven forbid, you engage in any business with them, consider contacting your local prosecutor and the Corporations Division of the Florida Secretary of State's office.

My research at the Corporations Division of the Florida Secretary of State's website and LinkedIn reveals the following:  This is L & J Bay Area Holdings, currently registered as doing business in Tampa, Florida.  It has been registered as a domestic for-profit corporation in Florida since 2005.  Previously it appears to have been doing business as L & D Marketing.  Its sole principal and registered agent for service is one Edward L. Dement,  1822 Albright Drive, Clearwater, Florida 33765.  According to its articles of incorporation, L & J intends to engage in all business and manufacturing under the sun (seriously, I cannot believe Florida state law views these articles of incorporation as legally sufficient).  According to additional research, Edward Dement has a B.S. in Marketing from the Northern Illinois University College of Business which he attended from 1964 to 1970.

hey DOC, your advice doesn't help, you can't use the form outlined at that page site, because you are given a list of companies to complain about and the one that concerns all of us here is NOT on BBB's lit, so consequently, you cannotgo any further with your complaint because of this reason.capice? anyways, thanks but you should at least verify the advice when dished out. at least you made a good effort to that.

got this call no message so I called back on my magic Jack and it just rang and rang and rang - do not half to hang up just let it ring as I have other line. I am also on the DNC but it has done no good

my time is 8:33am mountain time, this phone number is in Florida time there is 10:33am so I called got answering machine needless to say directed me to #1 accounts #2 sales and #3 directory, I punched #2 and this was "full" so I called back punched #1 and got a machine that let me record a message so I flat told them if they would do not take me off the call list action will be taken and that is not a threat but a promises, now I have MagicJack so all the calls cost nothing so if they persist in this the next contact I make will be with the Florida States Attorney's office.

And yes this company is L B Marketing please note the 813 number 899-0717 is a not a working number was at one time but they must have had it disconnected.

Called no answer from anyone on the line, called back and wanted to sell me a timeshare in Florida and a free trip yea right.

i called and told them to take my number off of there list.  i asked why they called my cell, due to it's being on the DNC list.. and he gave me a line of bull shoot..

"Sonja" from "L & J Holdings" called our business today asking for the president of our company (they call constantly) - president stated that he has advised them on numerous occasions that he is not interested in any dealings with their company and to please remove our number as they continue to call despite him advising them over and over again that he is not interested - relayed the message to "Sonja" and she simply said "OK" and hung up.  I am hoping that they finally remove our number, but I'm not holding my breath...

L&D Marketing has called numerous times, left no messages, caller ID said L&D Marketing, and is the same number on caller ID as listed above on this site, 800-899-1569.

Great reply. Scammers often pay well to a few to get them motivated to hook others. Wait. Hook? $12/hr? I think I just established a connection.

Ok people...I understand that you are agravated that L&J calls you...believe me, I didn't really enjoy working there because I didn't like annoying the people I was calling, however as a college student in a poor economy, you do the work that is available, ergo, I used to work for L&J a while ago.

HOW TO GET THEM TO STOP CALLING YOU:
For all of you who don't answer the calls or just hang up on them, you are doing yourself a disservice. They will continue to call you unless you pick up and say you want them to remove you from the call list. No need to be rash or rude, just say you'd like to be removed the call list, they will do so no question's asked. If you happen to get dead air (which happens a lot, i don't know why...) call them at this number (813) 988-5941 and ask them to remove you.

Sorry we called you, but we were just doing our job as you do yours. It doesn't make us horrible people...it was just our job.

WHY THE DNC LIST DOES NOT APPLY:
L&J conducts surveys, they do NOT directly sell you anything. Therefore they do NOT have to screen against the DNC because by LAW the DNC does NOT apply to surveyors. Call it a loop hole or what have you...either way...they are NOT breaking the law in any way.

So...reporting them to the attorney general won't do anything because they haven't broken any law. Hanging up on them won't do anything, they'll just recycle the # into the redial list. Just pick up, say you'd like to be removed from the call list and that's it.

WHERE DO THEY GET THEIR INFO:
Dunn & Bradstrett and INFO USA...that's where they get their numbers and info from. YOU must have at some point provided your information to a company who then sold it to a third party (dunn & bradstreet or info usa) who then turned around and sold your information. This could occur at a variety of locations (at the mall for those car give-a-ways...the possibilities are endless). It is NOT L&J's fault that your information is for sale nor are they at fault for buying it. You put your info into the public at some point. They DO sometimes get really old information and happen to call for deceased people or old businesses or people who no longer work at certain places, for that I am sorry.

Anyway....I hope this helps some of you to stop being called if you don't wish to be (and if you've posted on here you probably DON'T want to be)....have a great day...

Well, maybe things have changed since you were there.  I have asked them 4 times myself to stop calling.  And the boss they call for has asked them three times himself to stop calling.  Guess who just called again?
So now I am going to waste your innocent, poor, starving college students' time by putting them on hold every time they call until they get a f^&$#*& clue.  No means no- your story about this company following the TCPA does not hold water.
I was a starving teenager once myself, but I could only do 2 weeks of phone harrassment, aka telemarketing, before I felt like such a miserable lurch that I had to quit in order to live with myself.  Torturers are just doing their job, too.  I hope the job you have now is on the legit side of life, since you don't think you should have to bring your morals to work with you.
By the by, InfoUSA are the jerks who call asking to confirm your address, record that, and use it as proof that you wanted to be listed in their crap yellow pages.  They also harrassed our office, but were not able to scam us as they have so many others, not for a lack of trying though!  We got literally dozens of calls from them over a two year period.  Watch out for the criminals and their defenders.  Small businesses are the main target for slimeballs like these guys.
