Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
List of State AG’s offices: http://consumerfraudreporting.org/stateattorneygenerallist.php - DeanniThey keep calling my dad's house how they got his number I don't know, but they call everyday. He has cancer and doesn't need this crap. They don't say who they are or what they want just to talk to me.

- fed upYep, it's a debt collector looking for the person that was previously assigned my phone number (i've now had it for 9 years) so for the last nine years I've fielded such calls. The caller would not identify they are a debt collector because as he said, "we do so many other things". Lose my phone number!!!!
- Caller: Dynamic Recovery Solutions
- Call type: Debt collector
- hate these callssome pakistani or indian answered telling me that they had several calls to lower my credit card debt. some third world piece of [***] call in the middle of my day on a cell phone.
- Caller: pakistan trash
- Call type: Telemarketer
- MuggwampThe # that called me was 817-789-8747. They have cloned part of my cell phone #. Mine starts with 817-789. I just read last week that a lot of the spammers and debt collectors are doing this. I guess they think, that since the number is similar to mine, that I'm going to answer.
But....oh hell no....If it says unknown, anonymous or private with a number, I just let it go to voice mail, then add to reject call list. I also have created DO NOT ANSWER in my contacts, and continue to add all their numbers to that contact. If they don't leave a message...I just laugh. Based on these 800Notes comments, I believe it is Dynamic Recovery Solutions. I don't owe any outstanding debts, so they can butt a stump!- Caller: Dynamic Recovery Solutions?
