Hi I have question about a lawyer I was hired, she took my retainer $1500, she did not get me a hearing, she stated that I should pay more money, I said I don’t have the money, they kept charging me for phone calls and the paper work they did…and billing me $ 2700.00 dollar top of it, they put me on the collection agency Caine & Weiner, so what do I do at this point, I have no job, I’m going through hard. Can someone help me please? Thank you.

They called from a private number lastnight I talked this rude guy there saying its for a school I went to for a week. I withdrew because it was a joke. So I had no charges the school is trying to charge me 5000 its a joke. They guy called me trash and a idiot. I just hung up on him. Only trash I see is this company

Im also sorry that you have chipmonk teeth and a really bad coke habit. Oh yes we all know about the coke Mr.Cohen, its very obvious the way you scream at people on a daily basis when you need a fix.
You are thee worst boss in worlds history, its all complaints and never any praise, Good way to motivate your employees buddy. #2. Collection tactic.
This company violates the FDCPA on a daily basis at least 100 times a day.
Dear customers, did you know that everytime they violate the FDCPA you are entitled to $1000.00, not per violation just per call. So if they break 4 laws in one call, you still only get $ 1000.00. People need to start taking advantage of thier rights against this company. One of the biggest violations I see is collectors telling people they are going to "SUE" you. Umm yeah they legally cannot tell you that unless they intend to actually do it, which they have no control over. There is one attorney in the CA office and he is awesome! However the court sytems in the state of CA are down to two court houses in LA county and lawsuits take 6 months just to file then they can serve you and by then the 4 year statue of limitations could be up, so make sure you check you last payment date from the original creditor or if you made a payment to a collection agency it starts that 4 years all over again.
But again the collectors cannot lie to you and tell you that you will be sued bc once again they dont make that decision.
They also cannot be rude, they have to recite the mini miranda each call and state the call in recorded. Be aware of that.
I would never ever make a payment over the phone, you know why? Because collectors there want to hit thier collection numbers and they run fake checks ALL THE TIME! And those fake checks hit your banks and cause charges, again illegal and you can sue them!

Kiana, I don't know where you get your information. I've check this company out and they're not a law firm.  If your friend from C&W waived the legal fees, which I doubt, perhaps it was because there weren't any!  You probably work for them and are trying to spread fear and misinformation.  I am an attorney and I know that they are NOT!!!

Maybe not everyone that is getting harassed by this company owes a debt, but thanks for your snap judgement…oh and I don't think a guy not paying his cable bill is the main reason our economy is suffering but thanks for the economy lesson.

Anyone receiving calls from 972 area code? 'Same ' caller: Caine and Weiner, reportedly, only I checked and the number belongs to a home in Dallas while the collection agency is in California. Just a voice-mail so far -- 'Marshona Tyler,' and of course that's not the homeowner's name. Message just name, comopany, phone # and "attempt to collect a debt," not whose debt or any other identifying information. I'm no dummy, so will see what happens next.

The new CFO Chris Mathews was removed from his duties at NRS in 2011 Nationwide Recovery Systems in Carrollton was fined 250,000.00 by Minnesota Department of Commerce under his management for co-mingling client funds with operating expenses. Rcvd a call from a direct line extension 818-251-1736 Caine and Weiner (Caine-Weiner.com).  Debt collector and third party fraud investigation - such as a fraud purchase made on your credit card, the cc-company takes care of it, but the "seller," "vendor," or "retailer" continues to investigate the charge or fraudulent purchase.  In my case I supplied all info from police reports to credit card company data and information I had acquired, and the account was cleared, it wasn't a credit-report "reporting" item, just an investigation.  Glad I answered this call.  I know, go figure, glad to have answered it.

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (think of it as the best $6.47 you ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
