- Alexander Simon replies to BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU| 1 replyHey man, don't know anything about this company but please correct the address in this post. That address is definitely not the address for any Summertime Entertainment company, it's a residence address not in any way associated with whatever company we're talking about. I should know.
We just got mail addressed to this Summertime (which we're bringing back to the post office, obviously) so it appears that already SOMEONE thinks that Summertime is supposed to be here-- from a quick web search it sounds like these Summertime people are not well liked, so I'd really rather people weren't thinking this address has anything to do with them.
Thanks! - Hey man replies to Alexander SimonThe poster you are replying to will not receive any notification from this site, but may know that you replied by looking into a crystal ball. The address is the one posted on the BBB site. http://www.bbb.org/losangelessiliconvalley/bu ... rbank-ca-348676
which was probably given to them by this company.
The poster does not have the ability to alter, edit, or delete that post after almost 6 months. - What's Going On| 32 repliesI no longer hear anything and I noticed by reading the comments that no one seems to care very much anymore. Why did everything stop? Is this thing over? Is the money truly lost? Greg said this an investment in an intellectual property.
Who owns the rights to everything? - Still Care, but.... replies to What's Going On| 31 repliesI still care and believe most us who lost our money in ventures with these people still do...but I also believe that without many people getting together and agreeing to put up several thousand dollars each to retain legal counsel, nothing is going to be recouped. Google the principals and LinkedIn profiles come up as well as new LLCs and so forth. They have moved on to amass their next fortunes. Make peace with it and vow to yourself no one will ever take your hard earned money like this ever again. In due time, they will be rewarded. The very wealthy have long memories when it comes to losing money, as do those that are, shall we say, unreasonable minded.
As far as who owns the rights. you may own 1/1000000000000th of it, but the expenses exceeded the income they say, so there is nothing to get. They can sell the occasional DVD or film soundtrack and some odd rentals will occur, but believe that creditors will get it first. Peace to you. - Lurker replies to Still Care, but....| 1 replyAgree with above , I do not believe there will be any return on or return of anyone's investment. There are plenty of people who should not have been invested in this venture as they were not accredited and they are likely the people who could least afford to lose this cash. Maybe they would have some type of case against the principals and fund raisers but they would have to find a lawyer willing to take this on a contingency basis. But any investor who was considered accredited is pretty much out of luck as you can't sue because a business plan goes bad.
There have been no promised updates over the last few months and the principals , who all made plenty of money , are all on to other ventures. I did see they set a value on the shares of $.20/share but that is about $0.1999/per share to high in my opinion. I'll sell my shares at half that price. I can only say if they try to reach out to me, I will laugh in their face. Lesson learned by me , a hard lesson, but still a lesson and that is to trust no one , especially when they start bringing religion into their sales pitch. - Boondangled replies to Still Care, but....| 28 repliesI am guessing that there are well in excess of 10,000 investors. If you add in everyone else that has invested with it could be double or triple that amount. I think that if you asked 10,000 investors for $500 each to prosecute that it would not be that hard to build a $1,000,000.00 war chest. Also garner attention of IRS / FBI / SEC.
- Boondangled replies to LurkerThank you for sharing you thoughts. I am just surprised that so little attention to this exists. I mean so many people losing so much should create and uproar.
You are correct they are all off on other ventures. Ventures that your investment provided the seed money for. - Bp replies to Boondangled| 27 repliesthere are only 1700 investors , most of whom still care and are working behind the scenes to benefit the franchise ,
to many details to talk about here - ALL GONE replies to Bp| 6 repliesI'd toss in $500 or more to prosecute. At this point I'd just love it if the stock would go down to -0- so I could get away from paying Sterling Trust to administer thin air. At least that way maybe it could be taken as a loss for the rest of my working career :(
- Lurker replies to ALL GONE| 5 repliesI personally wouldn't put any funds into a legal fund because I don't think I would be in a position to have a case as 1) I was an accredited investor and 2) I don't believe I could claim anything just because the business plan didn't work out. The fact that it appears , in my opinion , to have been a terrible investment doesn't give rise to a legal case. But that is my situation, I don't speak for others , what they were told or promised and what their investor status was.
But I do agree it would be helpful if the stock was down to zero for some investors, but I don't know all the tax laws involved in taking a loss since I don't know of any way to sell the shares - if it is at zero - how does it get there, is that enough for IRS purposes, etc. I've had investments that have tanked before , but they were publically traded and I was able to sell them for a penny or so to officially take the loss. I wonder if there is a secondary market for non-traded equities like there are for time shares?
In reply to Bp , I would sure like to know what is going on behind the scenes and who is doing what to benefit the franchise. I know no one has contacted me about ideas or trying to help and I wouldn't know who to contact if I had an idea. Would love to hear something and it would be a pleasant surprise if what you say is in fact happening. I doubt the majority of the 1700 investors are working on this franchise behind the scenes , but if some of them are , that's great. But I would sure like to get an e-mail or newsletter update on things. Not sure why you can't give some bullet points of what you know is being worked on? - 1700? replies to Lurker| 4 repliesHow do we know with certainty there were 1700 investors? That would mean a number of individuals would have had to put in hefty amounts. I forget what I read was raised, but divided by 1700 it is staggering. Surprised that the men who raised this money are now on LinkedIn or putting up Youtube videos wearing very tight shirts. Very strange.
Look into writing off the stock as worthless next year. If the franchise spent $100M on producing a movie that only turned in $12M in total receipts, the franchise has no value. Document all of this and I would bet the IRS would rule in your favor if you were audited. Insulting that you even have to worry about being audited to salvage something. - I wanna Thank replies to 1700?| 3 repliesall you losers that invested in this movie without checking anything out, and then expecting to make millions on a highly speculative endeavor. why do i want to thank you? because I downloaded the movie for free from the internet., have a nice life suckers.
- You're Welcome replies to I wanna ThankI only invested what I would have invested elsewhere. And I don't think many of the people who invested were trying to make millions..just being creative with their trying to get to retirement...having an investment that would be enjoyable to track rather than reading stocks and bonds portfolios.
People like you add to the ugliness of the world. Incidentally, I do have a nice life. I am very blessed with far more than just money. God has been good to me and I don't take it for granted. Glad you enjoyed downloading the film. - Lurker replies to I wanna Thank| 1 replySo --- did you like the movie - hah hah! I actually thought it was better than the critics said it was , maybe the critics should be sued! Thinking about it more, I just don't think there is any case to be made by any investor for any legal action, They said they were going to make a movie and they made a movie. You can't sue because an investment doesn't work out like you think it should have. Secondly , accredited investors are considered sophisticated enough to understand all the risk, even in a private equity movie deal. And I'm pretty sure every investor had to sign a document stating they were an accredited investor. So I don't think anyone who signed a false accredited investor statement would have much luck.
At this point, I think I am just sitting on the sidelines , seeing what those who are working on the project can do for the franchise. Maybe something will happen as Bp mentioned. I would still laugh if called for another movie investment opportunity, but just because I know it's just not for me. As commented by another, I wasn't looking to make millions, I knew it was risky , but it was my attempt at trying to diversify my investments. So far it hasn't worked out, maybe there is something in the future for the franchise, but based on the K1 numbers from the company, I'm thinking it will be tough. No clue if it can be written off but I'm guessing no for now.
I guess the lesson I take from this is that private equity is one of the riskiest assets out there , and as an individual, you really have to do your homework. Switching away from this particular deal, anyone here ever make any investments on Crowdfunder? I have a friend who talks it up and he's gotten involved with several deals over the past year. He is into some interesting sounding deals, but I'm thinking if "Joe Six-pack" can buy PE deals, how good can they be? Would think the professional investors would get the good deals. Too early to tell how they will work out but anyone here been on it longer and have any experience with the investments and returns? - Curious replies to Bp| 19 repliesHow did you arrive at that number? What do they do "behind" the scenes? what can be done? Sure give some details.
- Curious replies to Lurkerso they raised over $100M to make a $25M movie that flopped. The reason for filing a complaint is because of mismanagement of funds and co-mingling funds.
- Bp replies to Curious| 18 repliesI am an active investor and involved to help do something with the franchise . I have a lot at stake
- Correction replies to Bp| 5 repliesYou are a PASSIVE investor and teh franchise is dead. You no longer have anything at stake. it is all gone. You lost.
- BP replies to Correction| 4 repliesYou are misinformed , i am and Active investor deeply involved, all is not lost
- Yeah replies to BPRiiight... Shill post reported
