- SadieMother in Law received a call for my husband (and he hasn't even lived there for 15 years!) Diamond Brown was the special investigator. All Diamond said was that there was a claim being filed against him. Ridiculous!

- KnowledgeCorporate offices are located in white plains.ny, comapany started in 1974, is in top 100 for collection agencies, has a 93% recovery rate, opens smaller offices throughout the US for licensing purposes for pending litigaiton, website: transcontinentalcredit.com,company is a memeber of the ACA visit FTC.gov FDCPA guidelines clearly state a collection agency reserves the right to seek legal action against a "debtor" it only states that it is illegal to threaten legal action if you do not intend to.Fact: American Consumers are uneducated and ignorant to not only consumer rights but also consumers resposibilities and consequences for defaulting on secured/unsecured loan ie:line of credit/credit card, payday loan, buisness loan, automobile loan etc.Fact: the result of defaulting on such loan can result in judgment/restraning order to be placed againg "debtors" finacial assets (depeneding on state laws and amount of outstanding default)which can include garnishment of wages most states allow up to 25% of disposable income ,bank accts frozen double the amount of judgment, tax refund garnishment or seizure of property (again depeneding on the size of the defaulted loan).Fact: a "debtor" CAN NOT be arrested or prosecuted for a default on a loan unless the loan/line of credit was contracted under a rental agreement,EXAMPLE you lease a 60 inch plasma tv from rent a center aarons or any other rent to own corp you become late or behind on payments and refuse to surrender to the property you are rent/leasing
in this case the store would reserve the right to contact authorities arrest and prosecute "debtor" and this is the only case in which such measures would be taken.Fact:if you are being cursed at verbally abused contacted numerous times within a 24 hour period by a debt collector or threatend with arrest you reserve the right to file a complaint with the proper authorites however if you are being told a specific creditor is seeking to get a judgment against you either settle or hire a great attorney you are in a world of financial trouble and more than likely your creditor has more than enough to provide proof of debt to the courts- Caller: debt caller

- Address for Transcontinental| 1 replyFor those wanting a mailing address, I spoke with Jamison who gave us 1220 Blalock Rd, Suite 311 Houston, TX 77055 just yesterday.
Interestingly, the only named debt collection tenant at that location is a company named Gulf Coast Collections, Inc. They are in Suite 310. When I called Gulf Coast, they claimed to know nothing of Transcontinental and said Transcontinental wasn't located next door. Anyone else smell a rat?
Gulf Coast is registered with the state as a debt collector, so complaints actually have somewhere to go -- Better Business Bureau, Texas Secretary of State, the FTC, and/or the Tx Attorney General's office.
Though it's hard to find information about Transcontinental, Gulf Coast is pretty easy to get phone #s for, addresses, etc. Worth checking out to see if they are affiliated. Seems a little too convenient for them not to be.- Caller: Transcontinental Process Servers

- Dave In Chicago"Speical Investigator"? Wow. That really does sound official enough until the morons say they have a restraining order. Also, special investigator? Special to who?
Official Investigators disclose who they're working for and the real nature of the call and don't BS about some hocus pocus BS restraining order.
These callers are idiots!- Caller: Unknown

- AnnoyedI got a message left at my sisters number that I needed to call about an restraining order on an account from Erica Glen. It also said that a court action was pending and to contact a lawyer. When I called it was about an account that I had payed off. they said I needed to settle the account now or the company would sent a subpena to my job. They threaten to embarass me at my job with a subpena. They kept putting me on hold saying that they was making arrangement with the other company. When I told them I don't owe that comppany money, they say kept threating me with being sued, paying a larger amount of money and court fees.

- AprilMy boyfriend got a very similar call to all of you. The call back number was 804-316-9075. They were claiming that he owed a payday loan company money which wasn't true. I got on the phone once I heard they were a "process service" company because I used to be a Private Investigator and served process many years. The guy seemed to get flustered and told me that my husband set me up and it was a prank call. Firstly, I'm not married (yet ;)) Secondly, my boyfriend never set me up for any prank. He had no idea what was going on. The guy said he was from the Steve Harvey morning show! Crazy thing is that when I looked up the phone number, it came back as a cell phone. The thing that worries me is that they went thorough the trouble to find a previous address for my boyfriend and apparently knew where he was born because they verified the first 3 digits of his SSN. It also worried me that they got his name with our phone number because the phone isn't in his name and we haven't had it very long. Who verifies your social by the FIRST 3 digits? Seriously. Anyways, this is NOT funny! I'm sorry all of you had to experience this as well.
