- HarrietGot calls from Jennifer Grant and Robert Johnson both claiming that I owed money from 2006 loan from Advanced America. They were very rude and intrusive. Was told was in danger of being arrested, DL suspended, and reported to my supervisor at work. They have called my work multiple times and now my home number. When you try to obtain info or dispute their claims, they cut you off and talk over you trying to intimidate you. They have definitely violated rules and should be sued if they are legit. But sounds like from the other comments, they are not legit and criminal charges should be brought. Wish could find out where they really are located and have them served with a warrant. All of us who are being scammed by this group should ban together and sue!

- Linda replies to mcIf you can find a good address, please let me know. I'm trying to get back an extra payment i sent and they're yelling at me for calling so much.
- Wendy| 1 reply"Ms. Williams" has also called to look for my son, Josh, that has not lived here for 9 years! They also have his number but they did not call him. They demanded that he pay $946 that very day by 4:00pm for a check that was supposedly written in 2005! She then 3-wayed the call between myself, my son, and her. She became all patronizing as to our financial situation. She then said that she would have to charge $1260.00 for the $300 check (not real) and the accruing interest. I started to make the first payment of $400.something and then after I got off of the phone, I realized that she did not give us a bank from when the check was written, nor the check-cashing agency, nor the collection agency that sent it to them. When things did not add up, I called the bank and put a "stop-payment" on the money that was going to be withdrawn. This really ticked them off and then she started calling Josh at work, during the evenings, on Saturdays, etc.
Josh called the local collection agency to ask about the procedures of "Goldman & Schwartz" and the collection agency said that if anybody or any agency is trying to collect a debt (at least in Washington State), that they must FIRST and FOREMOST announce "THIS IS AN ATTEMPT TO COLLECT A DEBT" which, of course, Ms. Williams never stated.
She also threatened "JAIL," "FLAGGING HIS SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER and HIS DRIVER'S LICENSE, " etc. She also told us that if we did not settle with her immediately that we would need to hire an attorney at our own expense.
Needless to say, this has been a big worry and hassle, as well as harassment to our family. We would be willing to join in any class-action lawsuit against these buts who prey on the people who are trying their best to clean up poor choices from the past and are currently working on being productive members of society!- Caller: Goldman & Scwartz

- disputed replies to mc| 13 repliesIt is a shame that all of us are slandering this company. At first, I felt the same way, because they wanted me to use my debit card,but there was no way for me to get one at the time because of me being sick in bed. So I contacted my local police department to investigate this comany,and I also contacted Advance America and they verified that this company is not a scam. I know that all of us are afraid of being scammed, but in this case, GOLDMAN, SCHWARTZ IS NOT A SCAM! I mean right is right, and wrong is wrong. They took my money order that was mailed to them,and I have already have recieved a email showing that my account with them has been cleared.
- Anonym replies to Wendy| 2 repliesI have invested this company.My brother works for the District Attorney office in Houston, and he told me that they are a ligitimate company. He said that their approach is strong, but we would be waisting out time and money trying to sue this company. You can verify them with Advance America. So please do your homework before you jump to conclutions.
- HARRIET replies to disputedObviously you are in with these scammers because what you are saying is not true at all. We did do our homework and investigations into this so called company of Goldman Schwartz. You are definitely a scam and a fraud. So dont go trying to be someone you are not and pretend that you know better! Some of us arent that gullible. Advanced America did not verify them and told us NOT to pay any money to them because that is not who they use for collections.
- Justme replies to disputed[***]!!! You are probably one of them!!! Scammer!!!!!!
- Crystal LambCrissy - they called and told me that I owed them $600 that had been paid to the orginal company 3-4 years ago. Will only take credit card for payments.

- atcnavy34| 6 repliesReceived an email from my mother stating that a woman named Jakara Jones contaced her in regards to a financial matter. I am glad that I entered the number here before calling them back. I googled their website and they are, in fact, debt collection office...it even states that fact on their site!!! If you would like to see this for your own benefit, http://houstonconsumerlaw.com/debt-collection/ Also, for those that say they have been threatened with legal action and so forth, here is a list of what collectors are NOT allowed to do:
Debt collectors are not allowed to use the following harassing or abusive tactics:
•Use of or threatening violence or criminal means to harm you;
•Use of obscene or profane language
•Advertising your debt for sale;
•Telephoning you repeatedly or continuously with the intent to annoy or harass; or
•Placing telephone calls without meaningful disclosures of their identity.
Likewise, debt collectors are not allowed to deceive consumers with the following:
•False representations that they are government representatives;
•Falsely represent that they will seize, garnish or sell any property or wages unless such action is lawful;
•False representations that you have committed a crime or that you will be arrested or imprisoned;
•Threats to communicate false credit information with any other person;
•Falsely implying that the debt collector is employed by a credit bureau;
•False representations implying that they are attorneys or that there is the involvement of an attorney in collecting a debt;
•Falsely indicating the legal status of papers or forms sent to you;
•Use of a false name;
•Misrepresenting the amount of the debt; or
•Sending you something resembling an official document from a court or governmental agency when it is not.
If a creditor or collector sends you a legal notice, do not ignore it. Most collection suits and arbitration proceedings against consumers result in default judgments because consumers fail to respond to the legal notices. When they fail to respond, collectors may proceed to request a payment order from the court and, in many states, may seek to garnish wages, even if the debt is not valid. On the other hand, cases are often dismissed when a consumer challenges the validity of the claim.
I hope that this helps many of you!!!- Caller: Goldman & Schwartz

- HARRIET replies to atcnavy34The Goldman Schwartz website is a fake. It looks very professional and legit; but don't be fooled. It is all "smoke and mirrors" to hide the fact that they are scammers. The address listed for their office on the website is for a UPS Store in Houston area. They are not legit debt collectors, and have collected old data from cash advance stores by illegal means and using it to "terrorize" innocent people in hopes to scare them into paying money.
- Tiffany replies to mrs. wThe same person Mr. Johnson called me today trying to collect money from me also if there is a lawsuit please let me know. They are trying to get my credit card info and theaten me over the phone.
