Yep! I know... ‘they’ just now called me, (hence my being here.) Same deal: On a Sunday Morning at 9:06 AM ! (And on September 11th - AND the 15th Anniversary, too!?!?! A very solemn day - for many folks - but, for us, perhaps our personal reasons-losses, make it that much more so.) They also called twice, yesterday. First call at: 9:13 am (E.S.T.), then later at: 2:36 pm. Only ever ONE ring then 'they' hang-up - NEVER leave any message(s).  Anyone know who? Anywhere here say who this is? What - Where - Why from? Sadly, due to our Illnesses and ALL the associated Un-Covered Medical Expenses, etc. - we quickly went from being; (while by no means "Wealthy", but to us,) "pretty darn comfortable" to suddenly being in MASSIVE Debt! Could this be a 'Debt Collection-Thingie' ? Oh, darn! Now, I've written-asked too much for a 'reply', right? Should I 're-post' as a comment? Perhaps. (Hey, don't make fun of me! :)~ ... I'm over 40 AND sick and STILL trying! :)  )

Received call from a Private number on my work phone.  Asked for me by my former name which tells me this was something old and not quite right.  He said his name was Melvin Davis from Document Delivery Service.  Stated that he would like for me to call him back at 844-213-1986 and my file number is: 339363-01 because they have some documents to deliver to me today between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and they want to make sure that I will be on the premises to alert the driver. If anyone is trying to serve you with documents, even I know that they never call you ahead of time to see if you are going to be there.  They just show up and they keep showing up until they catch you and they like to catch you off guard.  I think this is a possible scam.

Receive calls from this number several times a day & there's never anyone on the other end.  If they need to speak to someone, they should ask for that person instead of hanging up on me several times a day.

If you do have a mortgage with Wells Fargo, and your payment is late, call them at the number on the website and let them know when you will be making your payment (if you know).  The calls will stop.  If you don't have business with them, I don't know what to tell you.  Get a robot blocker.  I use Mr. Number.  It picks up and automatically hangs up on numbers reported as spam or numbers you set to block.

My husband has a WF checking account and we have a home mortgage that just got purchased by WF. We have never been late on payment and have bill payer which automatically pays our mortgage each month. My husband has excellent credit.

The calls started out of the blue about Wednesday afternoon. I informed the person that my husband is asleep and works nights, please don't call during the daytime because that interrupts our sleep. I also asked what the call was pertaining to but the "WF" person stated that they could not give that information out to me because I'm not the account holder. I asked, "Well is this a solicitation call?" Mame, I'm not authorized to tell you what this call is about." Was her reply.

Hung up and mentioned it to hubby in the evening before he headed off to work.

Thursday the same thing.... Friday the same thing only I'm more irate by now saying we are current on our payments and have NEVER been late and have excellent credit. What could you possibly be calling us about? He hung up on me and when I called back the number 844-213-7850 that was on my caller ID I got a recording welcoming me to Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, then asking me for the last 4 digits of my social security number for security. I refuse. It asks again (automated) so I wait in silence, then a recording stating that any information leading to collection on this account will be blah blah blah. O.O

Saturday afternoon while day-sleeping due to the nightshift schedules around our home comes with a WF call. I am abusive and mean and they asked me if I wanted to speak with their supervisor, I said yes please and I could not get her to tell me what this was pertaining because though I'm a wife of the account holder living in the same home our mortgage is on, I don't have authorization to be told whether or not this call is a solicitation call or regarding the status of our mortgage...which was paid a week ago and it is 9/24/2016.

Sunday 1:27pm-WF Call. I danced around with the caller about this and then was given to the supervisor. I told her look, we have had an account with WF for years and not one phone call from you. We pay our mortgage via bill-payer, are current and have NEVER been late...NEVER. My husband has excellent credit and WF screwed us back in 2011 when we applied for a lower mortgage payment on an upside-down mortgage with a credit score of 870. We were treated like crap by WF and now you insist on calling us on a Sunday afternoon during a time that is equivalent to 2:00 AM for you. Would you like me to call YOU at 2AM? How about 3 AM? Because that is what you people have been doing to us ALL F******G WEEK and now, even on a SUNDAY AFTERNOON at our equivalent to 2:30AM you say you don't have authorization to tell me whether or not we are being unduly harassed because of our account or if this is simply a solicitation call?

She answered, "Sorry you feel this way, it is not pertaining to any solicitation, we need to speak to your husband do you have the loan number on the account?" Yes I do have the loan number but I'd be stupid to give you that information because I'm not authorized to give that private information out over the phone. You want my husband? Fine! I'll go wake him up! GOOD LUCK, I hope you're wearing diapers because you're about to Sh*T your panties!"

I took the phone into the darkened bedroom and said, "Honey, it's WF again... It must be a collection call because it is not a solicitation call. Here."  My husband went ballistic and he's a very large man and can bellow like a fog horn on steroids. "WHY DO YOU KEEP CALLING ME?" Then I hear the low frequency chatter on the other end from the "supervisor".  "WHY DO YOU KEEP HARASSING MY WIFE? IT IS OUR SLEEP YOU ARE INTERRUPTING DAILY! WE ARE CURRENT ON OUR MORTGAGE, NEVER BEEN LATE AND HAVE BEEN WITH YOU GUYS FOR YEARS. STOP CALLING US! THIS IS MY FINAL WARNING."  Then more low frequency chatter on the other end. He hung up and said that the woman apologized and is going to refer us to her supervisor.

I asked my husband are you positive we are on-time on our mortgage? And he replied grumpily, "Yes! Yes! It went through last week! They apparently don't give a crap. Now I have to go down to WF on my day off and deal with it.

Now if any one here has ever worked night shift all week you are a zombie on your days off and want nothing to do with errands of any kind! But *sigh* now we must go and deal with whatever they would not tell us over the phone in person and on my husband's very coveted day off that normally would be spent mostly in bed or on the couch in a semi-vegetative state.

I hope he closes his account with them and joins a credit union. My bank (small bank in Washington State) NEVER EVER CALLS ME unless someone has fraudulently stolen my ID, which happened once. My bank in another state is a small community bank who loves their customers and call me spoiled but I expect ALL banks to behave as if they value their customers...anything less is dysfunctional and abusive imho.

Additionally, we pay early… so our Sept payment was paid in the end of August before the 1st, just like our October payment is set up to be paid before the first of October in the last week of September.

This week I watched on CSPAN some of the Wells Fargo Congressional hearing on their fraudulent business practices in 2011-2013 and even into 2015 on some counts. The CEO had claimed he had no idea that WF employees were forging signatures and opening up accounts and services under customer names without that customer’s authorization.

    Good company?  Really?

WF is lower than pond scum to THIS family!

Is that number on the statements sent to you? If so, ok, but if not, why did you call it back ?

Because when you're asleep and someone calls you at 3 in the morning, would you get up, go upstairs to office and dig through piles of paperwork to find the number? I called back to see if it answered Wells Fargo and was legit. When it asked for the last four digits I never gave them. I called back in hopes to tell them to cease all calling.  Understand, we've been customers of WF for years and never have gotten called other than one or two calls verifying suspicious activity to our account.  I just sent in a complaint with the FTC via the DoNotCallRegistry which we have been registered with since 2005 and it never expires. Hopefully we'll all get to the bottom of this sooner rather than later. Well another day without sleep, time to get ready for work. Have a good night all.

They called me at work, my Son at work and my home early Saturday morning. I did answer 1call at work. They were looking for money from a supposed 12 year old credit card debt of my Sons when he was 18. I traced it back to a Pittman Law Grouo Wilshire Blvd Los Angeles CA. I didn't remember so called credit card debt. He said we were going to miss our court date and that after court costs we were looking at $3700 but he would accept $1085 instead of the $1869 we owed as a settlement. I told him if it's true and we do owe you money ill pay you in 4 installments. He said one needed to be that day to whichbivredponded can't do it. Unfortunately I make decent money but I'm paycheck to paycheck and handling many events in my family that are trying, sad and deal with horrible illness. So I called the States Attorney General and I suggest you do the same. They told me it was a scam they said almost all debt collectors don't require any money that day and also that the statute of limitations was 7 years. They were trying to collect a debt from 12,years ago that may possibly have been true but far from the amount stated. At the time he was a 19 year old with no credit but they may have given him a student credit card with a $300 max just to help him build credit. So call the AG, hope that helps and my intentions are not to give them a dime and if they were standing in front of me I would knock their [***] out and then stomp them. Have a pleasant day!!!!

Criminals masquerading as debt collectors attempt to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged (they use the bad check or hot check claim a lot) and go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished without actually being sued or going to court, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this, all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  One of the tricks they use is to call your family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them and they can scare that person into paying their extortion money.  They will use the words “Mediator”, “Arbitrator”, or “Law Office” to make you believe that they are something other than a debt collector want-a-be and that they don’t have to follow Federal and State collection laws.  They do have to follow those laws, but they won’t.  They mention that they have received a Fax document, to create the sense of urgency.  They also tell you that if you fail to call them back you are "waiving your right to council", which is pretty much nothing but hogwash.  They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer).  Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them.  Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Read up on your rights here and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
