Exact same as others, they are calling relatives, and phone numbers of ex-relatives I don't even have. Claiming I have 2 outstanding payday loans. I will be taking to court and have to pay 8x as much. I told her I don't owe anybody money, and why I have I not recieved anything in the mail, and send me the info. They knew a great deal of information on me, address, employment, bank, and even last 4 of SSN. They call and fill up my answering machine, I have enter 0 on 2 calls and get nobody. Tonight I finally called the number, and got a  women with a heavy indian accent. I had her repeat everything at least 2 times. She claim to be with a company called VIN Capital, I asked and who do I owe the money to, at first she said she didn't have that info. Then after further back and forth, she claimed they were payday loans, and I said oh, so you do know who is making this claim, I asked when was this claim made, she replied it was renewed in 2015, I asked, why have I not received this information in the mail, she claimed that I have. She said, over and over,  so you want to go to court and pay 8x as much, I asked are these local payday companies, and she replied they were local "payday loan companies", in which I replied I will take care of this in person, locally, she then asked me to hang on, and click she was gone.

Safest call blocker works better than true caller.  I downloaded true caller and it failed to stop a little over half of the incoming private calls.  I got rid of it after hours later.  Safest stops all of them.

It is very fun - actually becoming one of my favorite "hobbies" when they call me, I call them back. If you call after 8:00 EST their answering machine picks up. I did actually have a great conversation with a rep from this company on Friday night and after messing with her about winning a free toaster and having a conversation much like a 4 year old going from topic to topic, she said that she was in FL. At the end of our call I said to her "Look, you seem nice. Obviously you understand that I am messing with you and I have no intention to pay, ever. Do you know that you are working for a scam company or do you actually think that you work for a real debt collector?"  She seemed shocked when I told her about all the stuff online - maybe she was messing back with me, maybe she was new, who knows. Killed time on my hour drive haha!

It is incumbent upon them to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it.  Not the other way around.
This is a common ploy by criminals masquerading as debt collectors who are attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this,  all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  One of the tricks they use is to call your work place, friends, or relatives repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying.  They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

The number that called me was 855-283-4371 stating that they had a claim in their office and listed  a claim number and to call 844-279-7423 to make payment arrangements or be subject to arrest. I have turned both of these numbers over to my lawyer, since I am already paying him for another incident like this. The call was automated, no company name given, no caller name given, nothing.

Most likely a debt collection scam.

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

    1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
    2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
    3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they are bothering you, report them:

    http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.  Tell 'em  no scammy debt collector is going to push you around.

You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking).   the only thing they understand.
