Got a call/voicemail from 240-397-7454 - a lady named KELLY PRICE- asking for my maiden name (which I haven’t used in 5 years). She stated she was calling from Barnes & Associates and I had a pending notice of action in the city outside of my county. Told me to contact 888-414-1663 and provided a reference number. She stated that they’ll move forward with pending notice of action if I don’t respond by today. They also left the same information on my husband’s voicemail.

I got a call this afternoon same as the above calls people have recev’d. Barnes & Associates stating I owed a bank thousands of dollars, I new immediately it was a scam they gave me the telephone no. ref. no. & even a case worker to talk about my dispute of not owing anyone money. This definitely is a Scam. They also called my daughter in law & my son.  Note: Be careful take precautionary measure! The tele. No they told me to call was 888-414-1663

Is there a way to report these people? I got the same call.

Yep ... false skip tracing, arbitrary settlement offers, selective secrecy, no paper trails .... same old tactics from another extortionist debt collector. At least the given business name has been consistent, offering slight hope of finding a valid office address to supply to process servers. You know, so Barnes and Ignoble can be sued off the map by their growing mass of victims.

Got same message so called back.......tried to get his henchmen to come collect in person the $1800 they wanted to make my 18 year old debt go away since he claimed to be a "litigator" for a local debt collectors firm ....... but he would not bite , he wanted non traceable type of payment .   They work in pairs  , probably out of good ol Nigeria , these guys will stop at nothing .

I called back so they can remove my number and they said okay.  Minutes later some lady called and I said I was recorded on the line when I called back , if I didn’t pursue the legal action they would file a judgement.

Huh?  You told the lady that you were recorded on the line when you called back?  What does that mean?

I got the same call. A county I never even heard of.

They called one of my Facebook friends. I have no idea how they got her number!  I called them back and told them never to call me or anyone else again and that I know that they're trying to scam me.

Called my daughters and son-in-law. Claimed I owe a medical bill from 2012 and if I don’t the $1800 it will cost me over $6000 in legal fees. Refused to send me a letter or give me any information on the debt. Claimed i was trying to “see their evidence” prior to court.

I gave them my email address to send the promise to pay documents. I’m sending the voice mails and emails to the FTC. I’m over these scams!!

They also called me from the above mentioned number ordering that I call or else they will take matters into there own hands.

I just received the same message that states a reference#and a call back number of 844-756- 3948 and I live in Washington state. They too said they are from Barnes and associates a that I have been

I received a VM from 229-352-3133 saying I needed to call Barnes & Associates because I ignored a credit dispute and it was now in a pre legal situation. They gave me no inclination to what this was referring to and said the original creditor sealed the information. When it got real sketch was when they said the amount was approx $41,000 I owed from a citibank card in 2002. I was like 20 years  old in 2002. I said didn't have enough income to have a credit card with that limit. She then said, that the original balance was $8K. Still my income wouldn't have supported that credit limit. I said I want paperwork with original credit information so I can do my due diligence. She then asked for my new address which I did not give. I said , I have never seen this type of balance on  my credit report . She said since its an old debt, I would not see it on the credit report and that I am being sued because I signed something that said I would allow credit card company to sue after statutes of limitation.. What BS!!!! They had my name and last 4 of of my SSN when they called. She said she would email me the info regarding the debt. I have not received an email . Also, I am pretty sure thats not how a legal matter at this level is handled via email. The phone number that called me was 229-352-3133 . I googled the number and it was linked to Penske rental trucks not Barnes & Associates. The 800 number they asked me to call them on was 844-929-1286. Hope this helps someone!
