Keep calling me looking for someone else I have asked them several times I am not who they are looking for stop calling this number.

I.D is debt collector Wakefield and associates, been calling about 1 yr now,  SCAM !!!! they  hang up when answering, do not answer, CALL BLOCKED

They have been calling for a year and have never sent you the dunning letter?  I'm guessing you never did anything to stop the calls as well?

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (think of it as the best $6.47 you ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.  

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Collection for an ambulance company

This number (844-554-0407) has been calling my cell phone daily for the past month.  No phone message is left.  No caller ID is given, other than a "Potential SPAM" notation from my Verizon Caller ID.

This number has called me 5 times in the last week. They have left two messages. One I couldn't understand and another one today from "Robert" from "Wakefield" who was calling me "regarding a debt owed". I returned the call. They were looking for someone else regarding a debt that was owed. When I explained that I had never heard of that person, they apologized and said they would remove me from their list.

a guy called from that number 8445540407 wanting to talk to a dawn christina mcintire I kept telling him he had the wrong number he kept asking you dont know this person do you know where she is I told him he had the wrong number and hung up

called it back and they said wakefield & associates.  .  they said trying to reach jose or some other jorge.......and since the # they are calling is a newly assigned business number it is highly unlikely that either one of those numbers will be valid for those 2 names......they are phiising and i told them to remove this number since it is a business and not associated with those people.  called "do not call list' and also reported to BBB

I strongly suspect that phone scammers like these are hardly about to abide by any legal nuances or niceties - they will simply ignore attempts to make them accede to your demands, or continue to bluster and bully their way over and around every logical, rational, temperate response innocent victims try to make. That is what they are best at - coercion, intimidation, bluffing past your justifiable outrage by insinuations and fraudulent allegations. We're talking con artists here, not merely mediocre but legitimate debt collection agencies. They are ultimately probably trying to elicit your CCard info or some other Cash Card payment scheme, period. Block the number if you can, hang up, ignore them. Engaging in any conversation can lead to unexpected complications and risks.

Same format - multiple calls on cell number in a few days, no messages left.

Or, you could follow my advice in that post and not only make them stop calling you, but make them pay you instead.

Collection agency which claims I owe a debt to a hospital even though the hospital says my account is current. Still, they keep calling hoping I will give them money. SCAM!

Got a call and they claimed I owed $800 dollars for a medical bill.  They also hit my credit report with this.  Got it removed from one, but still working on Equifax.  Called the medical facility they referenced and they said I have a zero balance and have not reported anything to any collection agency.  Do your homework before buying into any claim they make of you owing money on any past due bills.

Sure glad I do not answer these kind of calls and did look suspect...Thank you all for so much info on this joint
