Said they are from MasterCard/Visa rewards offering 0% interest on credit cards. I wonder how many years long the penalty will be for their false representation of association with legitimate lending institutions?

These criminals will not stop calling!  Hope they catch them soon!

I press one,  I always press, one and try to get to a person.  Eventually, they screw up and reveal a bit more about their physical location. While many are from out of the country many are very local.  Its the local ones We can target.  Plus and this is the fun part if they use a number that can be called back I run my own auto dialer and call them for hours.   It kind of neat when they are asking for me to stop calling them.  Word of caution some times they will forward your call to a third party. And if you are using a smart phone you could have some problems..

robocall on my landline phone from   855-309-0298 caller ID said "UNKNOWN NAME" on Friday 9-23-16 @  1252 PM.

Received exact message as "Chicago Ed" above. Surprised as it was a brand new variation message of the card services scam message.
Decided I needed to talk to these criminals and got a male with a heavy india/Hindi accent.
Interestingly the SCAMMER had my first name which is not on the phone bill. SCAMMER said to get the low rate he needed to "verify" the expiration date on my credit card. I made up a year so SCAMMER then asked what month was on the card so I made up a month and gave it to him. The SCAMMER then asked "was this a master card or visa?" I responded with a Bank name instead. The SCAMMER
asked for my card number so I said I would have to go get the card. SCAMMER said he would wait (they always say this as they want to steal your information and money). Came back on the line (never moved from my computer chair) and told the SCAMMER I had the number.
SCAMMER asked for the number but I gave him a few india/Hindi expletives instead. I find it amazing as they are either shocked or it gets them off their script so they usually have nothing to say. The SCAMMER quickly hung-up.

I tried calling back the toll free number right away and it had a long ring once and then a continuous busy signal'

Also called the toll free number back at 2 AM Sat morning and got a males voice which said "the toll free number you have dialed
is no longer in service. Please check the number and dial again." I think this message has been programmed by the SCAMMERS..

By answering them and calling them back you just verified for them that yours is a "good' number and now you will receive more worthless calls from this and other numbers. *67 does not work on toll free numbers like 855. And yes they do control the number. Also, as they have you number, let's hope they do not decide to use your number as a spoofed number when they go to make more scam calls. Engaging the scammers is not a good idea as you are playing their game by their rules on their turf. If you really irritate  them, they could swat you (see swatting) The best thing to do is not answer call you don't know and never call them back. Also consider getting a call blocker. That will stop the problem.

Don't say hello when you pick up for you know it is a scam. Let them talk first if there is any one on the line.

I blocked these [***] last month.  They've attempted to call 4  times now.   Don't EVER give anyone access to your computer that calls you.  The only thing that will happen is you will be screwed.
