Wow, 'one of those nurses who calls,' maybe you've been doing this cold calling deal a bit too long...seems to have you feeling kinda cranky.  The fewer 3rd party, or any party, involved in our health care the better. We want help and we get the help we need from our PCP and his staff.  And just because we do not want to talk about our health to you, an admitted 3rd party caller; a stranger, does not imply that we do not 'care about our overall health.' Get over yourself...

The caller claims to be "from Humana" ... however they are  3rd party contractor hired by Humana to offer in-home wellness checks/physicals to Humanas insured.
The calls are legit; however the company Censeo Health seems to be quite pushy & does not accept "No Thank You".

Under the current Medicare regs, each Medicare Advantage Plan Provider MUST have a "Wellness Check" completed on 85% of their Medicare Clientele each year.  The use of Censeo seems to be Humana's solution to achieving that for 2016; however, they are not limiting the calls to Medicare clients only!

In past years, Humana made the calls themselves & if no response sent a short letter of why it is important to see your doctor every year ....

In my opinion, Humana has violated the privacy of their insured by disclosing not only name, phone, address & insurance plan ... they also disclosed personal info like date of birth & other information WITHOUT CONSENT!  They claim the disclosure of information is permitted because they have a business relationship with Censeo ....

I have filed a complaint with my State Department of Insurance and with CMS (Medicare) ... & have made it clear to Humana that I have no intention of continuing my relationship with Humana after 2016 as a result of the misleading claims of & actions of Censeo & Humana.

Sharky replies to Nurse Who calls
The caller that calleeed me did NOT accept "No thank you" as an answer ... talk about PUSHY!  If the caller from CenseoHealth claiming to be Humana really was interested in my health they would take a much more low-keyed approach ... perhaps tried to find out why I was not interested rather then insisting I needed to schedule a time for a doctor of THEIR choosing to come to my home.

I am VERY choosy about thee healthcare providers I go to.  My PCP knows not to make a "blind referral", rather to discuss some of the options with me, the specialists he knows, who he would recommend & then send me away with as much information as possible so that I can personally research the various doctors & make the decision of who I will go to.
I expect my providers to be upfront with me & discuss things openly ... I am not only the patient, I AM THE ONE IN CHARGE!  I AM THE ONE MAKING THE FINAL DECISION!  I AM THE ONE THAT TREATMENT SUCCESS OR FAILURE IS DEPENDENT UPON!
If the healthcare provider does not respect that & is not willing to openly discuss EVERYTHING with me, then the doctor-patient relationship will not survive!
The fact this particular company clearly claims to be Humana & refuses to accept me decision ... & when they are in fact a 3rd party company, NOT Humana DOES NOT GO OVER WELL WITH ME!

" .... what your Dr does NOT HAVE TIME to tell you ...."

If my doctor does not have the time ... or is not willing to take the time .... then he or she does NOT have me as their client for very long!
All of the providers & networks in my area really push this concept of "Take Charge Of Your Health Care!"
The only way one can Take Charge Of Their Health Care is if the docs are willing to take the time to discuss things & do patient education & Give their clients options & accept their choices.
Treating their patients as CLIENTS not as patients!  Realizing that we have many many many options of where we can receive our care, so stepping up & providing quality patient-centered care IS A MUST!

Interesting .... Well, as your "Client" (soon to be ex-client), you should be well aware that I am VERY active in Taking Charge Of My Health Care!
I do not and will not conduct business with providers or 3rd parties tat I do not know ... & a doctor not of my choosing is NEVER welcome!  I RESEARCH & CHOOSE MY PROVIDERS VERY CAREFULLY!   & Humana knows that!  So Why Would Humana "sell" or "provide my personal information including my date-of-birth, to a 3rd party company that claims to be Humana & refuses to accept the answer "No Thank you"!?!?

If Humana was really interested in telling me the things my doctor 'doesn't have time to explain' maybe they should pay my doctor timely for the treatment my doctor thinks I need instead of acting as a roadblock. That would free up a lot of doctor time.  Seriously, at one point the insurance companies actually provided a service to the healthcare system by guaranteeing payment. Now they just skim 40% of every dollar and provide nothing.

Humana called yesterday from this phone number and set up a Doctor's home visit for today at 2PM.  The doctor went over my meds, talked to us about nutrition, weighed me, and took my blood pressure.  It was a free visit and we definitely enjoyed the fact that we were able to ask questions and  get good feedback and advice.  He was here about 60 minutes and I found it to be a nice visit.

Called today to tell me that they were sending a doctor for home visit next Monday (didn't give a choice of time or day). Said they were contracted by Humana because I have Medicare Advantage through Humana. She said that they will do a "physical", blood pressure, etc and send the results back to Humana as well as my family doctor (yeah right). She made it sound as if my doctor is incompetent. I assured her that I am getting great care. First if all, I am completely covered by the VA for physicals, eye and ear tests, colonoscopy and most other major items. They give me complete physicals including blood work once a year (Humana is not paying for any of this). I only have Humana to cover anything that the VA may not cover. Secondly, I have a very competent family doctor whom I trust completely for anything else. I do not need or want to have a doctor that I have no relationship with coming into my home. I told her that she needed to send a letter first directly from Humana stating their reasons why, with proof that it's not a scam. I wii NOT be having them come to my home, I just want to get in writing everything they told me.

This is a legit call from Humana. The offer this service to anyone with Humana insurance. It's free and they do it because many people won't go to the doctor for a check up because they're lazy.

Recd call from this #. Said they were calling on behalf of my medicare provider Humana. Wanted to let me know a licensed dr would be in my area for a wellness visit. I responded that I was not interested in the service. They said they would update my info to reflect that fact.

Yes that phone number is Humana and it involves a wellness checkup visit as described in their policy. Nothing to get alarmed about.
I just went through that procedure. A 65 yr old lady physician came here for a couple hours to do a basic physical check up  and fill out a long questionnaire about any physical  problems. It was a pleasant experience and an opportunity to ask a physician any questions or concerns that I had concerning my health. I guess that information will eventually get back to the doctor.
Seems like a good system to me.
