"This is not a solicitation call.  We have been monitoring your credit card use for the last 6 months and you are now eligible for a lower interest rate..."  blah blah blah.  At the end it says you can press 3 to indicate not interested and guess what?  The message starts all over again.

    Tired of these criminal calls?
Do this - purchase a blocker or blocking phone and block the entire 855 area code.
We have had the 855 area code blocked for two years.  Our phones do not ring when they call.
BTW - never press any numbers or call the number back.

Area code 855 is a future area code reserved for toll-free calls in which the calling party is not charged. Instead, the telephone carrier charges the cost of the call to the called party. Toll-free numbers, such as 855 numbers, have applications such as technical support, customer service, and personal use.

I did not answer and it left no message.
This message is long, but please read.
SCAMMING AND PHISHING CAN ONLY SUCCEED IF THERE IS A MARKET; AND THE MARKET NEEDS TO BE EDUCATED AND REMOVED!   The crooks and scamsters are bottom feeders that have no limits, conscience, or mothers.  Legislation (DNC FTC)  and you are the only controls.
It has long been my standing that education provided (not) by the service providers and carriers is sorely lacking. They need to be made to take more responsibility  for allowing this fraud to continue.
If you dont recognize the name/number, DO NOT ANSWER. If you happen to answer, DO NOT RESPOND IN ANY WAY; NOT BY VOICE, SELECTED NUMBER OR CALL BACK!  If it is in the form of a pop-up, text or email, DO NOT SELECT ANY  LINK. Assume any response to be a hidden link or number... (to hell). After all, they are scammers and you dont really know what you answered or consented to do, give or buy, (for which your number may be billed).  If in the form of an email, open full address, take a screen shot then delete the email.
A legitimate company notification will identify you by name and never send you a link.  No matter how real, authentic, promising or threatening it appears, DO NOT RESPOND.  Call your private contact number to this company and check. Follow their instructions. They will probably request a copy of the suspect communication in some form...varies. They need to know when they are being spoofed.
Texting is a way to get around those of us who do not answer. Do not respond. Copy the text for reporting.Take a screen shot of the entire text, including the phone number or short code. Save it, then delete the text. REPORT.
HAVE, KEEP UP TO DATE, AND USE, AN ANTI-VIRUS APP ON BOTH COMPUTERS AND CELL PHONES.
And don't waste your time with cute answers...there's no use or satisfaction and they don't care. They just move on to irritate or hook the next sucker. The longer you keep them on the line, the longer your access is open. Don't forget...they called you..they have your number and can get your address. If using the 855 exchange, you may be getting charged for the time.
Regarding the DNC, you do not have to answer. Just dialing your number is an offense. File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission for any and all unwanted and/or unsolicited calls (cell or land-line), texts, scams, phishing, ID theft, and others at www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/Information#crnt
A legitimate caller will be identified, will leave a name, message, and call back number, giving you the option to respond. It will respect the DNC. You can file a complaint about offenders on the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY. Your registered number NEVER expires. Be sure to register your cell phone too.

When it is Credit Card Servicescalling I speak with a representative to ask in my most pitiful voice if they can help with $10,000 in credit card debt. They get real excited and positive so, I just go on and on about how and why and ask tons of questions to take up their time. I do not carry any credit card debt but it irritates me that they can call everyday several times per day. When they ask for my credit card number I then say "I will start with the credit card account you contacted me about" and then hang up or leave the phone dangle while I pretend to go fetch my wallet for my actual credit card. Eventually they hang up.

Definitely a SCAM. I played with the very Indian sounding guy and he eventually started screaming at me with profanity.  He 1st told me he wouldn't ask me for my CC # but then said he needed to verify my number for security reasons.  When I argued that he said he wouldn't ask for it, then did, he started yelling profanity at me.  One day, likely in the FAR distant future, technology will be able to put a stop to scammers like this.  Until then, play with them on the phone as long as possible to keep them from scamming one more person that day.

The Toll Free 855 area code went active in 2000.  It is the same as 800, 888, 877, etc. where the called party (company) is charged for the call rather than the caller (person).  Calls from 855 numbers are NOT going to be billed to you.  BTW - if it is an 855 area code call here, it is most likely a forged number from someone trying to scam you.
