I just received a garbled message on my voice mail.  It picked up the minute my message came on.  Some woman whose mouth was too close to the receiver said something but gave a different last four numbers than what showed up on the Caller ID.   If her message was about infected computer, we just bought a new CPU with Windows 10.   Unlikely that my computer is infected with anything.

Same as other.  Left a message that they got an urgent message that my license on my computer has expired.  That this was urgent and the message was received by the U.S. Global Center.

This is ridiculous.  But the sad part is that some people will fall for it.

Window License Scam

Got a call from 1-855-539-4917 on my answering machine that my Windows license had expired. The message was not spoken by a real person, but was clearly a computer voice. Call-back number was 1-855-539-4914. I hope people recognize this as bogus.

Another number to block, and blocked shall they be... No answering service. Number was listed in CID

message claiming to be a Microsoft IT guy... had a thick Indian accent.

A recorded message of a woman's voice told me my Window's Key had expired and if I wanted to fix it to call a number.  I hung up.....only answered because I was expecting a call from a 855 area code and thought that was it.  This is a new number for me, first time being called from it.  From the look of the many reports, it is not a new number though.  I hope no one falls for their line.

Same thing - recorded message that my license for Windows had expired.

Left voicemail to the effect of, This is an emergency call to inform you that your Microsoft Window licence has expired.  Please call.....

Emergency Windows Expired Scam

They are trying to say that my computer contacted them because my windows expired. Told them I don't have a computer (lied, of course) and they hung up.

Said it was an emergency and I needed to update my computer. Its a scam don't even call those F#&kers back

1. I just got a call like this. I hung up because it was a recording.
2. The phone company can't control the kinds of calls people make. That would be done in a place like Korea, Cuba or Russia.
3. If you don't want to answer a phone then, yes, get rid of it, because it's really annoying to call a legitimate number and have it not answered because the owner of the number doesn't know how to say, "I'm not interested, please take my number off your calling list" and politely hang up without listening to any response. I have had to call someone in a semi-emergency situation from another person's phone and the person I was calling, who I REALLY needed to talk to, wouldn't answer his phone, because despite his college education, he was afraid it was a telemarketer and didn't know how to say no.

5/16/16 Voice message from unknown female stating "Emergency, your computer Microsoft code key has expired. Call 855-268-5667 immediately to restore." Apparently same scam, different phone number.

Uhm... answering the call and saying "I'm not interested, please take my number off your calling list" is the WORST thing you can do. That will just verify the working number and get you added to dozens of other lists. The best thing you can do is not answer calls you don't recognize and block them when you find them listed as scammers as you see here on 800notes.com

A message on my answering machine on Oct 12, from 855-532-1444, that my Windows key has expired, and I need to call asap. Judging from this list of prior encounters, this scam has been running for several months.
