This is a scam of some sort and you're part of it.

The large number of  shillers basically posting to  tell everyone how "legit" this number is, is pretty strong evidence of a scam.

Similar to the 800 number scam.

The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real,   is evidence of con artists spamming the site to try to fool people.

395  entries in this thread and I count 160 as shill posts.

A 40% shill rate is pretty strong evidence of a scam .

Connecticut Water does use a Code Red system, but you have to sign up for it via Onsolve LLC.

You would not receive a message on Code Red unless you signed up for the service.  Which would mean you knew exactly what the purpose of the call was as soon as you received it.  Why then,  would you then  "look it up" as you say,   on an anti-scamming site?

Your story falls apart.  Nobody is buying it.

Code Red Emergency System number.  They do leave a voicemail although I'm not sure why registering to vote warrants an "emergency" call!?!

My grandmother's number gets these calls - she didn't sign up for them, she can barely use the thing let alone sign up for callback services. Most definitely a scam using a vaguely legitimate number for some other purpose.

    BLOCKED.

Just what we need in our lives, daily calls from our police departments asking us to do what we're already paying them to do.

Received a call from this number. A recorded voicemail informed me that there is a snow emergency in effect in my city and that cars should not be parked on snow routes or could face being ticketed and/or towed. This happened to be true, so I'm marking it as a valid call.

This is a legitimate call. We had a boil advisory for water here in North Carolina. It was a call saying that it was OK to now consume the water and that boil water notice was lifted.

If you know who called you, why did you come to a phone number look-up site?

Is this an actual ECN number here in Wisconsin? Two calls today, 3.5 hours apart-- first that there was a situation in our area and for all residents to stay inside. Then a call from an 866 number giving the all-clear, 3.5 hours later.

It sent me a text as well as voicemail about boil order ending. I didn't even see any info that WE were under a boil order.... Don't like th is system as it confuses people if they don't live in th e area that the situation is happening in....

    Irritated & Annoyed
This is the Community Alert system used by many municipalities. Unfortunately my town goes a little hog wild every time it snows to tell you a) there's a parking ban, b) the parking ban has been lifted, c) the parking ban is in effect for downtown for special plowing, d) the parking ban is again lifted.  We also get the outside watering bans in the summer. Blah, blah, blah.

It's annoying as all get out to get four, five, six calls per storm when I don't live anywhere near downtown and wouldn't be out between 2am and 6am, but the alternative is to take me off the list altogether, and I'd like to know if there's a watering ban. So I put up with it. The problem for me is the the caller ID doesn't always register as Community Alert so I just accidentally blocked it and then had to figure out how to unblock it. Whatever. It's a legit call.
