- rbNumerous calls about apparently nothing. People on the other end sound like they're hiding something. They want information but don't give information.

- SonjaThis is Hawaiian Tanning in Wi. They are calling me continuously, and I answer the phone and they do not say anything, they have a severe problem. If they are a debt collection company, why don't they ask for the person they are looking for.

- irritatedWhat is going on here. Never heard of these people but yet they are targeting us.
First of all the guy who leaves a message sounds drunk and touchtones on our recorder.
This is the stupidest jerk I have ever heard. I will notify the authorities if anymore come in.- Caller: SRA Associates

- frustrated| 2 repliesThey call me every month. I am making my payments so why annoy me. Their message is so lame. If they reach a voice mail then they should leave a message asking politely for caller to contact them. If caller doesn't give it up. Their message says if you are "joe"and you continue listening then you acknowledge you are "joe". Stupid. It's an answering machine it don't know who it is. I returned the call once and their person was very mean and would not give me any helpful info. Like which debt account they where collecting from. I have two that I am paying on and not sure which one I am talking about. SRA if you listening leave me alone.
- employee replies to frustrated| 1 replyto respond to your "stupid message" comment... Do you really think we would say that if we weren't forced to by the federal government?!?! the reason why we cant just leave our name and # and who we want and why we are calling is because debtors like you complained that you were being embarrassed and your private information was being given out.... so the courts ordered that there be a disclaimer in the beginning of the message... and if you actually LISTEN to whats being said... its not rocket science..."this message is for Joe Smith.. if you are NOT joe smith hang up.." (right there you can delete the message from your voicemail) "by continuing to listen to the MESSAGE (note it doesnt say phone call it says MESSAGE).... idiots.. not only do you not know how to pay your bills but you dont know how to listen
- Resident47 replies to employee"The courts" did not order any variant of those absurd canned demands to "stop listening if you're not the sorry slob we are convinced you are", and "You admit you are the dope we can slap by listening through the end." By that logic, a preschool child or a housecat could also "admit" to being the skip trace target.
This is the clumsy industry response to a twin dilemma in federal law, the FDCPA. A collector must make "meaningful disclosure" of its identity yet respect the privacy of whoever is named on a debt account. Many agencies have resorted to saying as little as possible, since they get sued about the same no matter which side of that legal coin is favored. Case law also supports the notion that collectors cannot bend one law to satisfy another.
Of course, a collector using the same anonymity to make itself more spooky and mysterious is not much discouraged from breaking the rest of FDCPA. I would love to hear your justification for the illegal antics reported in this thread, such as abusive reps, deceptive practices, refusing to stop pestering the wrong persons, and threats of litigation. How about we learn to listen when you learn to read? - kariyma replies to ssherezi want a person to person machine too.....please tell me where u got it..
kariymabilal@aol.com - JojoThis company, I believe they call themselves SRA, has called my cell phone and my work number. I finally called them back to inform them that they can not call my work. This woman, Tracy, was her name, began to threaten me that if I did not pay them $2000.00 in three days time they would begin LEGAL action against me. I don't know about anybody else, but there is no way I can come up with that kind of cash in that time. How can we stop people like this from harassing us?? I want to pay my bills, but, I can't pay more than I have.

- lamReceived (2) calls and lengthy from this phone number looking for a man and woman by another name than mine. Very agressive message, asking them to call them immediately regarding a debt collection. I did not return the call, and just deleted the message. I am afraid that if I call them back, that they would start harrassing me even more! Someone tell these people that they can't call random cell phone numbers!

- Bill replies to ssherezI love that! lol
- aI received a bizarre voicemail from this number today. It was a man who was very frantic about finding someone named Marcel. He left a number to call him back on, but I swear, it only had 7 numbers in it -- something like 888-601-7 and that was it. He was saying something like, "I will give you 3 seconds to stay on the line and that will tell me you're acknowledging that you're with Marcel." I was too freaked out by that point so I just hung up and called the number back. I was connected to a woman, I told her about the voicemail to which she asked "wrong number?" and I said yes. She asked for the number I was called on, I gave it to her and she hung up on me without saying anything. Yesterday I also received two calls and voicemails from a different 856 number...
- On my CELLThat number called me and a "Leticia" tried to get me to say it was me. I do not know anyone by that name and NEVER give out my cell number to anyone. So then I knew it was a scam or someone fishing for money. I said this is a cell phone and you are wasting my minutes! Maybe they won't call back because it is illegal to harass people and make them pay for the pleasure at the same time.

- irritatedgirlJust got off the phone with them! They call and left numerous threatening messages on my voicemail. I thought I would call and try to work out some type of payment arrangements but couldn't because the guy continued to be rude and wouldn't let me talk. He took it personal like I actually owed him money. I couldn't bare to listen to his voice anymore so I hung up the phone.

- richkeep getting a call from sra for someone that never had our home number, they are not the brightest bulbs as the person leaving the message sounds as if she were having difficulty with english? perhaps she is working on obtaining a green card to remain in the USA. they called from 888 816 9952, with a callback of 856 925 1000 looking for someone that never had our home number. ( I worked for a phone company and the number was picked by us with knowledge of the prior assignment whom also had the number for years) I am now hoping the person they are looking for costs them a lot to not find the person, hope their business phone bills increase, hope that foreigner $8.00 an hour employee makes thousands on their clock and I have no idea how much is owed but I hope it costs them 5 times as much just looking for the deadbeat.
like I say I know phone networks, knew where my number came from and know the person never had the number, perhaps he/she uses the phone books and provides more bad numbers and makes lots from stupid creditors that don't do any verifications. I used to get annoyed as I got calls for years from collection company's now I just laugh seeing how stupid the creditors and collections agents are. I even find I like to harrass the caller until they hang up first, it really makes it fun.
all the above is truthful, and provable should any creditor including sra causes any financial issues!- Caller: sra
