Really!? Where in the FDCPA does it say it is the consumer's responsibility to prove the debt does not exist?

The burden of proof is entirely on the collection agency to prove the debt exists. Please read the FDCPA, you may need it in your line of work.

These guys have been calling my cellphone looking for the previous owner of the number, despite the fact that I have informed them several times that I am not him.I have a surefire way to get back at RPM. Just register a craigslist account and make postings saying that you have Ipads or Ipod touch for $100 bucks. Tell people who want them to call RPM at one of their numbers:
    7032919039
    8663603992
    8662127408
    4345339030
    8663485654

If we can get 20 people to do this, I believe that we can do some serious damage to this company so that they will have to shut down their phone systems for a while. Let them see what it feels like to get a ton of unsolicited calls every day.

My wife is ill and it is her credit card debt so she wanted me to call and try to settle her debt before she died it was something important to her.  A gal by the name of LaToya was very rude and nasty as was the male voice in the background.  At any rate we agreed on a negotiated price and I asked where to send the money and she said 20816 44th Ave W. Lynnwood, Wa. 98036 so if anyone is looking to speak in person to these people thats where they say they are.  However, they refused to email me a confirmation of our agreement so I refuse to pay until they send me a letter to verify we had a conversation and an agreement.  All they do is to call constantly every few min.  I simply block their call so I really don't care.  My wife will die as will the debt die with her and I am also sick and dying so they will be left with their nasty attitudes and a debt that I don't care about.  We were just trying to do the right thing so if they are now not willing to be reasonable like everyone else then I can't get all bent out of shape over any of it.  It is their loss.

Are you kidding me?  I don't know who this guy was but, he said are you sure you don't know so and so, and I said yes, he said "Interesting" and then hung up on me........

I have received  various threatening messages  from "Clint". Clint has said I need to call him and stop avoiding his calls as the matter will only worsen and at that time no one will be able to help me. Clint goes on to saying that if I don't feel comfortable calling him, I should have my attorney call. Now that I can link this to an old debt from Sprint, I don't feel as if my life is in danger....

They called my house again today becasue I had them on my blocked list but it got removed for some reason and they can all the sudden get through so they are just calling again.  I will put them back on my blocked list.  If they think i owe them something then they should leave a message or send me something in writing so I can send them a cease & disist letter.

There is something you can do:

    1) Politely tell them that they can kcuf themselves.

    2) Go to http://www.donotcall.gov and file a complaint.  It is illegal for for-profit companies to use automated dialers to call a phone number where the receiver must pay per minute for the call (aka cellular phones).  The FCC and the police probably will not act if only one person reports RPM.  So, EVERYONE:  File a complaint and maybe RPM will learn.

    3) Finally, if you feel annoyed, annoy RPM.  I am thinking of using my own online auto dialer and seeing how RPM likes it when they keep getting interrupted by annoying phone calls.

The number 1-866-935-1139, but if it is an old debt you might want to check the validation of this for this is your right as a consumer. There is a time limit in which they can collect. Check FCPA.

RPM has been contacting me about an old bill I believe I had paid off.

Try this site for suggestions.  They have a link to example letters to use with companies like this.

    http://www.privacyrights.org/fs/fs27-debtcoll.htm

In the letter you state that you only wish to be contacted by mail.  If they continue to call after that you can complain to the appropriate consumer agency.

hey how r u..i'll make it very easy for you:  If they call you, regardless if it's for you or not, tell them they are calling a cell phone, its being recorded and to stop calling it: then simply hang up! They have to stop calling you by law! its called the (T.C.P.A) Telephone Consumer Protections Act).  Now if it really is a cell phone, and rpm contacts you again: Merry Christmas too you$$$$ SUE THEIR [***]!  you can also file a harassment lawsuit if they repeatedly continue to call your home for another person not living in the home and you've made them aware of that

HELP IS ON THE WAY! replies to Ann Johnson
Hey, how are you.. Unfortunately!, I work for this BS company, but am on here to let people know how to stop RPM in its tracks... If they call your work, instruct anyone who answers your company's phones, to tell RPM this is a business and stop calling, then simply hang up.. If they call you at work after that, you have a lawsuit! If they call your cell phone, verify who you are then say this is a cell phone stop calling! Then simply hang up.. If they call your cell after that.. (law suit!) It's called the (T.C.P.A) Telephone Consumer Protection Act - cell phones only, at home, u have to send in a cease and desist letter. RPM's mailing address to send: po box 1548 Lynnwood, WA 98036.... I'll be checking these post often so if you need anymore help, just post and say where is the (RPM employee that hates RPM)
