These fools keep calling from different numbers (in different states).  How do I report them?

When I cancelled a cellular contract with Sprint seven years ago, the first customer service rep I spoke to didn't carryy through the cancellation. They sent me a "monthly bill" for a one-month service charge for years, but never listed any overdue amounts or include my cell phone number; whenever I tried to call the service number on the bill, I couldn't get past a greeting that asked for the cell phone number associated with the account. So I would send the bill back with a note that the account was long-since cancelled and forget about it.

The most amusing part about all of this is that each bill listed the current month as the starting date, as if the account was brand new or something and this was simply the first bill.

I was very surprised two months ago when they began sending "60 days past due" notices. Today was the first day I received a call --on a brand-new, unlisted phone number -- from RPM. I plan to send the following letter. The wording has proven effective in stopping harrassment regarding illegitimate debts:

    To Whom It May Concern:

I received a phone call this morning from your phone number. The caller did not state who they were calling for or what they were calling about. An Internet search revealed that you are a collection agency.

If this is a legitimate debt, you should already have an address associated with this phone number. If so, we require the following information to be sent in writing, addressed appropriately to the individual you are trying to contact:

    1. The name of the individual you are trying to contact
    2. Account information regarding any debts you might be trying to collect, including the alleged amount owed; associated account numbers; details of the account history such as opening and closing dates, previous collection attempts, and date this account was first turned over to a collector
    3. Proof that you are licensed to collect a debt in the sate of New Hampshire, and have been retained by a creditor to do so

If you attempt to contact this household again without providing this information, we will complain to the Federal Trade Commission as well as contacting an attorney. Likewise, if any adverse reports appear on credit histories for any member of this household, we will report that to the FTC as well and also contact an attorney.

I have received calls from these people as well. They call on my home and cell phone. This is very confusing since I have never had anything turned over for collection.

Play hardball with these thugs. Send them a letter directing them to cease all attempts to contact you and warning them that if they don't, you'll pursue legal penalties against them.  Here is their headquarters address:

    Receivables Performance Management
    1930 220th St. SE
    Suite 101
    Bothell, WA  98021

Just be sure to mail your cease-communication letter via *certified* US Mail with a return receipt request, and save a copy of your letter.  If they contact you more than once after receiving your cease-communication letter, then they are breaking federal law and subject to fines for each incident.

You can find out more about the cease-communication option and other good advice at the websites below. (These sites could especially come in handy if RMPS ignores your cease-communication notice, which opens the door to you to sue them.)  Good luck!

Received multiple calls around 8 pm.  When I answered, nobody was there like they hung up on me.  I tried to call the number back, and received a message about how important my call was, and to please hold.  The first message said your call will be answered in 4 minutes, then 3 minutes, then about 6 that said 2 minutes, and finally it kicked over to an answering machine.  The company name was RPM...  Never heard of them, and have no idea why they would be contacting me.  I googled the number today and saw all of these reports.  Who are these people?

They call, there is no one on the other end. When I call back, it rings but when it's picked up, it's a tone, and then I'm disconnected.

We received a message on our answering machine from a Tim Beardsley, with RPM, asking for someone in our "accounts payable" department. This is a residence! Is this RPM company only connected to Sprint? We have never used Sprint, but have used other telephone companies.

The number on our caller ID is 866-212-7408, but the number they asked us to call back is 800-618-6705.

This company has called me time after time looking for someone I don't even know. I have told them they have the wrong number but that doesn't work at all. This has been going on for at least 4 months sometimes several times a day. My husband and I have always had perfect credit. In almost 50 years we have never, ever paid a bill late or had any problem of any kind. So to put up with this harassment for someone else(who we have no clue is) is just not right. Just who do we complain to about this????

RPM keeps calling on my work extension.  They have phoned at least 5 or 6 times.  I keep telling them they have the wrong number-that they have reached a steel corporation.  Why do they keep calling?

RPM has been calling my home number for four months now.  They ask for a family member who has not been at this address for eight years,  they are very rude and hang up.
I know for sure that there is NOT an outstanding balance on any wireless contract and that they are trying to scam us.

I will report them to the proper authorities.

    thank you for the information.

I thought I was paying off some debt, but when the payment didn't go through I decided to call them back and see what was up. I was given the wrong phone number and confirm number. It was only through this site that I found their actual phone number. When I asked the woman details to my account she was very rude and kept cutting me off to put me on hold. When I asked about who they were and to send me some info, she said no we only do phone payments. How do I know these people are legit?

NJ, they called me last week and left a message. So i do what everyone dose and call today to see what they want. I do own money to Sprite but i had a funny feeling that this company was a fake. When  i said something to the girl she seem to be careful of the words she was using. then said in two months ill send a small payment to them. From other debt collections they don't want to hear two months more like to days but the main thing is they are fake companies out there. And it sucks because they find out you own money through software that they can buy or public records

Keep receiving calls from this number but never answered. Finally picked up and again, like everyone else, they hung up. I believe they do so to verify that it's a working number or something.

Anyway, I do not have any debts of any kind (nor is this number attached to anything I ever use) so I don't know what the deal is. I got a hold of someone named "Penny" total b*tch psycho who would not disclose what kind of company they are. I kept asking and all she would say is, "we are a management company." I kept pressing but she started acting like all collectors do and started yelling at me that I needed to give her my info and what did *I* want (as if I was bothering her. I asked if she was a collection agency and she just started screaming and talking over me. Eventually she just hung up on me.

I kept calling and continued to get her so I started to harass her. I think everyone should call and bug her if they get her.

Anyway, I wish there were some way to just block their calls as it's annoying.  I thought there was some rule about how late they could call? Ive been getting calls every night at 745 p.m.
