- BearWhizzHaven't a clue, but they have called my phone number repeatedly the past few days. I'm now in the process of keeping a detailed record of the number of times that they have called here for possible legal action.
- panchothese guys call me AT LEAST once a day and sometimes leave msgs - always looking for some guy that I never heard of. I'm on t-mobile, is there any way I can have this number blocked?????

Since they wont stop calling me, I am calling them for kicks... using a skype account (completely free BTW - as it is an 866#). I just call and ask for some phony name, (i used Bert Rosenberg) they'll tell you their line is busy!
Are they controlled by the DoNotCall registry??- Caller: RPM Collections

- AlfalfaUnfortunately, Debt Collectors are exempt from the "Do Not Call" registry.
They are governed under the laws of the FTC, which administers the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act):

The only way to stop them from calling is to send them a Cease Communication letter VIA Certified mail. Be sure to request a return receipt and keep copies of everything. If they continue to call after you have written proof they recived it, they can face fines of up to $1,000.00 PER violation.
Go to this website, which contains some good examples of Cease Communication letters for you to use (depending on your particular situation). Just fill in the blanks:

- CartoonJosieMy aunt got a call from this phone number asking for me. I have never lived with my aunt nor used her name or phone number for any account of any type. She told the person she knew me. I hope they don't continue to harrass her. Their phone number is on my caller ID from a few days ago, but they did not leave a message.
- PENNYKevin, from RPM called me today representing AT&T, saying that I have an account going into collection for over $200. Into the conversation, he told me that if I would submit $75.00 (I believe that was the amount) he would take care of that collection. I told Kevin that he had the wrong person, he got loud and said that I admitted to being _______. He was very nasty, I could hear cheering the the background. They must have hooked a poor sucker.

- AdamThey called my work today and told me that I owed a debt dating back to 2005 for $216. I asked for what, and "Dana" listed about 20 different potential companies that I could have opened a charge account for...none of which I have ever done. If they are collecting debt, shouldn't they have information about the company who it's for?
What a crock...I asked him to confirm his number, which he did, I then asked him if it was the same one that has dozens of postings about fraudelent debt collection...he paused, said if I was on the internet go to their website. What is that going to do? Told him I would no longer speak to him and hung up.- Caller: RPM

- BBWow, it is sad that people let themselves fall victim to something like this. I have been being harassed by RPM, a "company" in Washington state for about three months now. Pesky little buggars. However, I know that I do not or did not have the bill that they claim is mine. Along with a different middle initial, address and last 4 of my social security. I think that they hope that I will one day crack and give them money.
I have contacted my phone company and talked to the police and set up a trap on my phone. When they call, I act like I'm concerned and take down their info, what they will settle for... a call back number. I say that I have not received anything in writing from them (which a credible collection agency is required to do) and they tell me a date that is about 3 weeks prior. Then I tell them thank you for all of the information that they have given me and tell them that there is a trap on my phone to prosecute scam companies like theirs. It is fun to listen to them rant then!
Be careful people, don't be ripped off. Give your money to your family or charities rather than these scums.- Caller: RPM

- pearlI have been receiving calls from this co looking for someone other than myself, it appears they represent the various phone co. I have had an account with Verizon for many years and the bill is always paid. When I asked them how they got my unlisted number they claim they have investigators and that they used my last name. I don't need an investigator, I am filing a complaint with my phone company and the FCC. Who do they think they are?

- skmattI am getting calls from this number at least once a day. They call all days and hours. AND they are calling my cell phone not my home phone. I have no idea how they got my cell phone number. I don't answer these calls but looked it up to see who it was since I don't recognize the number.
- HeatherThese people are calling several times a day. I never answer since I don't recognize the number. How did they get my cell phone number? I listed my cell number on the Do Not Call list. A lot of good that does me.

- krebThis is obviously a scam. They would change their information throughout the conversation to fit what I said. For example, they said I owed money in 2007, but when I told them I hadn't had the phone account in question for 4 years, they said the bill was from 2003!! What the heck! Then they tried to confirm my last 4 social digits, and they had 2 digits reversed, so I quickly hung up and googled the number. Don't tell them anything!

- ghenghisReceived multiple calls from 844-212-7408 starting last Friday. I have caller ID so I did a phone number search on the internet and found several sites related to this phone number. I called late Sunday night and verified that it was RPM. I've never had any dealings with MCI. RPM called again today - I called them back. The first person I talked with said my number was not in their system and hung up - VERY RUDE. I immediately called again and told the next person NOT TO HANG UP. They said my number was not in their system and someone in my household must be doing this. I informed them that I had caller id and knew it was them. They are supposedly removing my number from their system, but it takes 24 hours. Confront these people and let them know you are on to their game - it seems to make them back off.
