I just received this on 4-12-11 and I thought is was to good to be true, after a very limited search I found it was thank you all for your input.

I got this in the mail too. Mortgage audit and saying that I have a refund up to $87,300. No letter head, it had a ACT to the right of the letter.

Got the same letter.  Thanks to google I am certain this is another lousy scam.

So glad to see all of the posts regarding this letter.  When my husband and I saw this we checked into it right away not believeing this could be true in anyway.  SCAM for sure!!!  Thanks to all who agree and posted their findings regarding this same letter!!!

My girlfriend in FL just received the same letter today.  Of COURSE it's a SCAM.  Hand out 100 business cards to 100 different desparate people & your bound to get at least one to bite!

Why doesnt this company list a return  address on the letterhead?
The only address listed was a Po Box. What does ACT stand for ?

Received letter in Arlington, TX.  We'll send ours to the Att. Gen. Office.  Thanks for the advice!

I also received a letter from ACT.  I spoke with The Ohio Attorney General's office and emailed a copy of the letter I received from ACT and wrote: I hesitate to call this company because when I googled 1-866-259-0031, I was taken to https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-866-259-0031/4 which had comments from many people all over the US about receiving a letter from ACT.  According to the "800notes" website, when this company is contacted, they want $149.00 to find $ for you via your mortgage.   The "800notes" website also listed ACT's website as being www.consumerservicing.org.  I went to that website.  There isn't an address listed on that website and the 800 # is different.  I also emailed The Ohio Atty Gen'l a copy of this letter and asked if they thought if this company was legitimate.  

It sure would be nice to get some extra $, but I don't think I'll be calling this company.

Got a letter too.  Glad I googled and found this site!  The troubling thing is there is a court action against my former mortgage company and I thought this might be regarding that.  Good thing I looked online!  Shred bin fodder.

The scam must be progressing... I got an "S" number!  My advice if you call them - authorize them to perform the "audit" on their own and do not send them any $$$.  I am confident they will just mail you the difference!

HAHA... I am in florida and in the "S" section of the scam eligibility. If I had a dime for every letter I received promising me that they could find some amount of money owed to me from something to do with my mortgage issues, I would be able to afford their $149 fee to audit my mortgage which is obviously already in public records. But to those of us who are sick of these people trying to take advantage of people down and out and looking for any kind of miracle relief, I say we should take up their valuable time and call them and tell them your life story and make up some amusing story and then cry hysterically with your best broken hearted pitiful sob story and see if you can make them feel itty bitty for taking advantage of people down on their luck. LOL.... It's worth a try.... but on a serious note...... I did report my letter to the attorney general... Thanx to all here and best of luck!!

There is also language in this letter that caught my attention. "...amounts owed can range as high as $1,500 to over $7,800.00."

That's like the perpetually-on-sale furniture store that advertises "...save up to 50% and more!" How can you save more that what you can save "up to". How can your range from as high as one number to an even higher number? What's the bottom of the range, then?

A bona fide offer wouldn't contain nonsense claims.

Got the same thing, nail from Utah and the phone # is based out of Tennessee. Always check this stuff. If it sounds to good to be true it probably is.........

We received the snail mail letter with the same information. I am glad I checked this site.  I plan to send it to Connecticut's Attorney General along with this site address.
