I have a skype number which (8662906517) keeps calling... Skype says the number is from China. Sounds like a big scam to me!!!

Note to everyone: I got a call from one of their reps wanting to give me a better Discover card and I said no. I did, however, receive another card in the mail a few days later. I never activated it and the other day they sent me a letter stating they were going to cancel that card for inactivity. My suggestion is not to answer the phone at all.

They call atleast twice a day and don't leave a message?

After close to 100 calls from this number, I turned the phone on and immediately off to keep them from leaving a message.  Later that day, I received a call from them saying "F**k you.  Don't ever hang up on me!"  I spoke with Discover today and was promised we would be taken off their call list.  This evening I received another call, similar message.  Any ideas?

Called once while we were out of house, no message left.  Called again less than hour later, they didn't let it ring enough to go to voice mail.  Both times, same caller ID.

these people have called my repeatedly, today they called 7 times! when i answer the phone there is no one there. i say "hello?" multiple times but no one answers. they have called at the following times:

I have been receiving phone calls from this company for several weeks, sometimes 4-5 times a day.  When I answer the phone, they ask to speak to my husband.  When I tell them that he's not available and ask what they are calling for, they refuse to speak to me.  I called the number back and it appeared that it was connecting to Discover card company, but gave no options.  So today I called Discover and was told that they know nothing about a company called Prescriptives and that they don't have 3rd party callers.  So when Prescriptives came up on the caller ID about 5 minutes after hanging up with Discover, I answered the phone in a very low voice, and they began to try and sell me Identity theft protection.  Pretty ironic, since I think that's exactly what they are trying to steal.  I just mumbled in my "Manly" voice and they caller kept right on talking.  I then said "Officer-this is the bogus phone call I've been talking about".  Well-that guy just kept repeating his name and his number and said that he was working for Discover.  I swear he sounded like a POW giving me his name rank and serial number.  I asked, if you are calling from Discover, then why does Prescriptives come up on the caller ID.  He said that's because that was the system that handled their phone calls.  I asked to speak to a supervisor. He got someone one the phone (probably the schmoo sitting next to him) who apologized for the phone calls and said that he didn't understand why Discover didn't know who they were. What C--p!  All I can say is be careful.  I'm going to try to find out how to block that number from ringing through.  I'm getting tired of erasing 5 calls a day from them.  I filed a complaint with Discover and with "do not call".  Hopefully it'll stop, but I'm sure that tomorrow I'll have 5 or more calls from them because I gave them a hard time.

KMS thank you for the good info.  "Prescriptives" has been calling me at least three or more times a day recently, but I have not answered yet.  For what I read here, it sounds like a telephone phishing scheme using Discover Card as their cover.

Discover Calling about ID theft. Told the lady 3 times I don't want her to send me nothing and I was Not interested.

For several months I  received calls from (CID)  Prescriptives;  866-290-6517 sometimes 2x day EVERY DAY. .. When I finally decided to answer  the call (7-30-09) I was told by female voice she was calling from Discover card; agent (identified) …. The female voice that called me  spoke soo fast I could hardly understand a word  she was saying!!.   I ASKED WHY ARE THEY (DSC) CALLING ME WHEN I DON’T OWE THEM ANY MONEY!! .. .. the agent quickly rambled on & indicated they were JUST updating my records & I just need to indicate if my record was correct when she asked some questions !!.... and she indicated TO ME my  home addr.. & other PERSONAL info that I DID NOT GIVE OUT….. Then the caller thanked me & fast; quickly  hung up &  I got suspicious and called DISCOVER  directly…///    The DSC  customer svc agt that answered my call  told me she never  heard of PRESCRIPTIVES (?) / !! .. .. so I indicated I wanted this filed as a complaint!! .. .. This agent then tried to sell me ID PROCTECT. KIT WHICH I DECLINED & SAID NOT INTRESTED. I told here I wanted my call filed as suspicious activity & specially since she claimed she never heard of PRESCRIPTIVES.

Weeks later  (8-10-09 )  I received  a brochure in the mail  from  DSC card   (An Id Protection Brochure ) & when logged to view/ck my cc acct  online acct I was charged  $9.99 for ID THEFT PROCTECTION that I did not even request !!!  I followed up w/ 2 additional  complaints (2 –telephone calls) directly to DSC card & reiterated the story 2x to different agents; & I advised them I was ready to cancel/close out the cc acc altogether & pay my tot bill  balance!!.  //  This is unethical ; unacceptable… I told the 2nd  agent how I traced  this 866 tel# from internet searches and it IS tied to DISCOVER CARD.  The 2nd agent then gave me same lame excuse & my case# is being reported to HQ !!  and kept apologizing!! … I told her I am not paying for something I did not sign up for;  I did not request nor solicit /// and told her I don’t want any fut solicitations & indicated my tel was listed on the Natl do not call list.

Called sevaral times over the days, there is no message nor company name. Do you what this is?

I just got my home number connected a little over a month ago.  This number has been calling NON STOP.  Today alone they have contacted me EIGHT times!  I called them back, they asked if this was Jane Black (hmmm ... sounds like a fake name).  I told them NO, they then asked my name, then they asked my address and I told them NO WAY!  I have called them now THREE times today and told them to take me off their list, they have the wrong number, but they continue to call.  They say it can take up to 30 days to get off the list.  I don't think so!  I'm over this ... I have a sick child and these jerks are calling NON STOP!

Good thing I read these posts.  Was receiving multiple calls a day from this number.  Now I answer the phone and just place it next to my computer speaker with "It's a Small World" on infinite repeat on Windows Media Player til they hang up.  Guess since they want to interrupt my day, I might as well satisfy them with images from their childhood.

they call me @ least 5 times per day . i juast had a call@ 647pm and the male rep from discovery says he had to record our conversation to protect me and his company. I hang up the phone.  he called me why do i need protection?

I receive calls frm this number twice a day. I have asked them to stop to no avail.  They stste they are with Discover card services.  Very annoying

They have been reported to the Federal Communications Commission.
