I went to Wells Fargo website and got their direct telephone number for Wells Fargo Auto and called them and they verified that the check I got was legitimate and sent from Wells Fargo Auto for an account from more than 10 years ago.

How do you reach them? I called Wells Fargo Auto because the post office lost this piece of mail that was to come on 12/2/2020 according to informed delivery and I never received it. Usps is incompetent but WF seems to not know what they sent me

I got the letter (not a call) today.  Didn't receive a check, but they wanted me to call 1-866-295-7056 to reissue a check.  I looked up Wells Fargo Auto and called them.  They said that number was NOT theirs and to not cash any checks from them.  Red Flags: Not on Wells Fargo letterhead (it was black & white copy), letter was folded crooked (by hand), the "subject" line was after the first paragraph (not at the top of the letter), the letter showed urgency to cash the check or call them,  and the biggest one...I NEVER HAD ANY KIND OF ACCOUNT WITH WELLS FARGO during the stated time.

Never had a Wells Fargo account. Got the same letter as the rest of you! Will not cash the check. Will call the fraud department at Wells Fargo! It is for a late payment error on an Auto loan that I never had.

Jan 30 2021 Just posting the date so others can see when the letter was sent. Also Black and white copy! And yes, there is urgency for me to cash the check. Again, I have never had an account for any Wells Fargo Banking or loans. As stated I will call the 1 800 Wells Fargo fraud department. As well as my credit bureau to see if any loans or bank accounts were fraudulently set up in my name. This is disturbing!

I well speak to Wells Fargo Fraud ,also. the reason I believe it is a scam is that I have never had a bank account with WELLS FARGO! NOR AN AUTO LOAN!

I have never had an account or an auto loan through WF.  Also, the letter was addressed to an old address before the state updated some of the addresses on State Highways.

I got a call months ago about Wells Fargo Auto...thought it was a scam and ignored it because never had a car loan via WF.  We do have accounts with them.  Fast forward almost a year and got a letter about a sizeable check from one of the lawsuit settlements about car loans.  Knowing how many scams are out there, especially if you are of a certain age, I by passed all offices of WF and call their fraud department.  Long story short, this is not a scam.  I was told that due to all the lawsuits, WF is auditing ALL of their customers up to 30 years past - we've been with them 22 years.  They were the parent company of where we got a car loan 12 years ago.  Don't contact local offices because most do not have any of this information or numbers.  If you've gotten this letter or check, call WF fraud.  I was put in touch with the right folks and our certified check arrived today.

I just received a fake letter with a $67.65 check attached to it saying, it's for reimbursement. I've never banked with WF for anything. I looked up the information on the check and found it to be a scam. The letter and check looks like it has been copied over as though the copy machine was running out of ink. What a JOKE-SMH....Some month ago, these scammers sent a check of $6.92 and now they just found more money $67.65..LOL...yeah RIGHT! It's a scram and I'm not hard up for $67.65 that cost me a life time of pain.
