A very helpful person gave me the information we've all been waiting for. This is a company that contracts with various organizations to assist them in their fundraising efforts. The company information to use to file your complaint is:

They call everyday. No message.  Quick hangup.

They call I answer and nobody is there. I call back and nobody answers. They call and don't leave a message. Sometimes I get these calls every day for about a week at different times and they quit for a few weeks.

I love websites like this.  Thank  you everyone for taking the time to make notes.  Anytime I see a strange numbr with no name on the call ID, I NEVER answer it, I google it instead.  Thanks to everyone who has already reported this number, I knew to immediately hit *80 so they won't ever bother me again.  Anyone who has it available should get Call Block service - you can selectively block a lot of these type calls.  Unfortunately it won't block everything but it's a big help.

I got a call from this same number.  When I answered a lady asked for my husband.  I said he could not come to the phone, may I take a message.  She quickly said there is no message and hung up.  This was my first call from this number.  I have received calls from different numbers that show up on my CID as TOLL FREE SVC.  Most of the time no one says anything.  This is very annoying.

We get the calls several times a day. For the first time, someone actually was on the other line. I told him that I was in the middle of something. He replied "yeah, me too" and immediately started his pitch. I interrupted him and told him I really was in the middle of something and could he please take me off the list. He asked if I was always this rude! Pretty sarcastic for a guy asking for a handout. Glad to know the name of the company, so I can start calling them at all hours of the day and night!

I couldn't resist using Google again on the name mentioned above: Charitable Resource Foundation. It is listed on a website by the Ca Attorney General as a company who raises $$ for charities, but only gives the charity less than 15% of the donations.

Calls all the time, no message, hangs up when answered.

I am in my 70's with very bad health, it is very difficult for me to jump up to answer my phone when it rings. It is horrible when I see that I am getting a call from 1-866-303-6836 and as soon as I answer I get hung up on. The number shows on caller id but the name is unknown.

Just received a call from 1-866-303-6836. It was a raspy voiced woman who asked for my husband by name. I set the phone down and went to get him. By the time he picked up the phone, she had hung up. They called at 8:07 P.M. California time. We tried calling the number back, but it just rings and rings, then goes to a dial tone. weird.

I sent a letter to Charitable Resource Foundation to the address given by one of the posters. I told Mr Brian Wright about the problem I was having and told him to take me off the list and if they persist in annoying me I was going to report them to their local police department. It seems that it worked because I haven't had any calls.

No one there!  They call and call and call!  I am 80 years old and don't need them bothering me!

I get calls from this number at least 4 to 6 times a day.

Now me too. Glad I could look it up on this site. Hit a tone key for 5 seconds and keep it on - should dissuade their autodialer.
