- orangemikeCall showed up as unavailable 866-311-7847 and I was stupid enough to answer. Same pitch as others have described here: "Breast Cancer Society," money goes directly to women in need, blah, blah, blah. The girl was pleasant throughout. I was not rude, but very steadfast in saying no. I could tell it was a scam, but couldn't search fast enough to find this site while on the phone.
- Caller: Breast Cancer Society
- Call type: Telemarketer
- ladI answered and no one there.
- NanUnknown caller on caller id - they hung up when they reached answering machine. I don't answer calls from unknown callers either.
- James replies to Annie| 5 repliesWe apologize for the inconvenience of the phone calls. Telemarketing can by annoying at times, for sure. Of course, many charities with worthy causes have found that without using telemarketing they are forced to turn away those needing their help.
The Breast Cancer Society's web site is: www.BreastCancerSociety.org
If anyone reading this would like additional information on the organization, please feel free to visit our site or to call me (James Reynolds) directly at 480-284-4014 M-F 9:00-5:00(Arizona time zone) - James replies to DawnWe're very sorry for the annoyance. If you would like to contact us directly with your name and phone number, we will place it on our do-not-call list immediately. Please email the information to Info@BreastCancerSociety.org
- Cindi replies to madMake a complaint to your state Attorney General's office. Tell them to send them a letter. The calls will stop.
- Cindi replies to Steve| 2 repliesI would like to say that this call would be legitimate, but I don't think it is.
Since the Do Not Call Registry has come into effect, collection agencies have to get smart with verifying debtors names and addresses. We all know it's against the law, but I had something similar happen to me a few weeks ago. Someone called from a state I used to live in with a caller ID number that showed up from a business there. I've never had any business with these people. They knew my name and I thought that was funny. They asked me "Hello, is this Cindi so and so?" I said "no, you have the wrong number."
So I wouldn't believe it was the Breast Cancer Foundation anyway. They're not allowed to solicit money over the phone anymore. Only political campaigns can call. - Deethey've been calling everyday a few x's a day for weeeeeekkkkksssss!!!!!7/30 4:09pm and 7:46pm, 7/31 4:06pm, 5:56pm 7:44pm, 8/1 3:06pm, 4:39pm, 6:52pm & 8:49pm and 8/2 9:09 amm, 10:13am, 11:08 am! I can't take it. I let it ring and ring they still call, I answer they usually hang up or ask for my Husband I tell them stop calling they hang up - They are rude when you do ask them to stop It is harrassment. I even called the # back and left several messages to take me off their list they keep calling. I had to resort to foul language on the last call this morning I'm so fed up!!! It's a fraud. How do I get them to stop - my name is on a NO CALL list!

- catch-allI got a call from this number too. I have an unlisted number and I use my cell for 99% of my calls with friends, family & work. So if a call comes in on my home phone, which is really for my fax, I don't answer it. I let the answering machine/ fax take the call. The call came in and they left no message at the beep. I keep a list of scammer numbers next to my phone so I can decide whether to pick up or not and screw with their minds.

- T replies to MalI just got a call from this number at 9:00 AM, I heard the lady out she asked me if she could send an envelop i said ok she knew my address which bothered me...then she told me that because they are on record with the attorney generals office of maryland that they had to varify that i said it was ok to send the envelope she said she'd put me on hold to varify with her supervisor..i said ok..and she hung up...but strangly before she hung up i heard a woman in the backround saying "Where's my daughter? tell me where my daughter is!" then it clicked off...I am sure this is a scam but it worried me enough to look it up....ughhh will people never get honest work?
- Mr. MaI got a call from a woman asking "Mr. Ma?" at 10:24 am (Eastern Time), 08/08/2008, and she hang up.
- Val"they" just called me (for the first time). I did not answer; no message left. I hope they don't call again but if they start this on a regular basis I will be getting a nice shrill whistle to blow into the phone. That should stop them fast ;)
- eJust to let you all know, i am a telemarketer and they get all your numbers from the phone company. And it does not matter if you are on the no call list, if it's a non profit org they are exempt from the list and are allowed to call you.

- Mum replies to edReceived a call from this numbe and they said it was very important that I call back - I did not call back - If it was so important, why did they not tell me what they wanted then?
- Just MeI was gone and checked my calls later, saw this number with 'unknown caller', they left no message. I usually do not pick up when the caller is not identified.
- lawyerGot a call from them today. Because caller ID was shown as unknown and the pitch I was given sounded fishy, I decided to get to the bottom of this. These people are NOT the American Breast Cancer Society which is a legit organization. These people are: The Breast Cancer Society, Inc.
10506 E. Obispo Ave., Mesa, AZ 85212-1818, which is a FOR PROFIT corporation. Hence, if you are on the Do Not Call List, they cannot call you. Thus, if you get a call, file a Complaint with the Do Not Call List web site and also file a Form 1088 Complaint with the FCC on their web site.
Also, for all those who are NOT on the Do Not Call list but complained that when you picked up the phone or the machine answered they hung up, these are called "abandoned calls" and are also illegal. Therefore, file a Form 1088 Complaint with the FCC at their web site. The more complaints filed, the more the gov't is required to respond.
Those are the facts as best can be proven without having inside information, but that is enough to file complaints with the gov't to have them stop. I mention this, because after doing my research on them, the whole outfit and their web site, and their pitch, and the toll free number they used, etc., tells my gut that they are a front for some kind of scam. But that cannot be proven at this time. So just file your complaints as mentioned above.- Caller: The Breast Cancer Society
- Hal| 1 replyUses an automated dialing system. You can tell because you pick and say Hello and they don't hear it. You have to say hello again.
Said they want to mail me a plege card for Breast Cancer. When I asked to be removed she started saying more stuff about the cause. When I said again that I wanted to be removed, she said "I was just in the process of doing that.", somewhat rudely, to which I replied, and how would I know that from you continuing to try and sell me on your cause...? I then hung up.
I did *69 to get their number. The best thing you can do is request to be removed and make a note of it. If they call again you can sue them. The other options are to keep them on the phone as long as possible and waste their time, or if you can find a pay phone, call them and keep them on the line for about 3 minutes. Calling them this way makes them pay a hefty fee for taking the call.- Caller: Breast Cancer?
