Called at 7:45 PM Sunday night.  I didn't answer.

Received call from this number on 8-25-08....didn't answer.

I got a call from this Number today and when I answered there was noone there.

I get calls from
  866-290-4961  caller ID SVC
  888-586-6706  caller ID SVC
  800-331-5935  caller ID SVC
  800-331-5134  caller ID SVC
  800-735-0824  caller ID SVC
  866-311-7847  caller ID SVC
and apparently it's for Windstream,(my phone service provider), non-profits, special Olympics, breast cancer, or Discover card, and yet, it always says, SVC on the caller ID.

Since there is apparently a single source, SVC, I should be able to prevent these calls. Any suggestions?

calls constantly.  no answer until I say something or press buttons.

constant calls, with no message left.  Called back and advised them that there is a no call list and they can be reported. no further calls.

i just received a call from this company as well.  I talked to a lady who seemed very nice.  she wanted a donation for (according to her) women with breast cancer who were having difficulty paying their medical bills.  i told her i would be interested and wanted more info.. she gave me 2 websites that i can't seem to load  www.supportbreastcancersociety.org
& www.thebreastcancersociety.org --

so while i'm not ready to say it was fraudulent or anything of that nature, i thought it was rather suspicious that neither website given would load.

Calls daily, no one answers when I pick up.Who are these people?

I always google these numbers to see if anything comes up.
My mom had breast cancer so I probably requested info from some websites, and from reading the previous posts it sounds like it might be that.

I didn't answer, but a lady said my name when the machine picked up.

The woman said she was calling from the "Breast Cancer Society".  I told her we already give generously to the American Cancer Society. But she reminded me that this was the BCS.  When I pushed for more info, she hung up.

This number calls my home several times a day. I let the answering machine pick up but they never leave a message. I tried to call the number back and it says"if you will hold a respresenative will be with you shortly" I hang up. Why do they keep calling? It is so annoying.

To many calls to my phone.They call and ask if this is Dan or if my wife answers they ask for Dan. We tell them that we take care of our charities and hang up. Last night they called seven (7) times and tonight they already called five (5) times. Because of this I will not give to the American Cancer Society anymore. Can this type of calls be stopped?

Have you gone to the website?  All you get are a bunch of other web addresses.  I can see why people are questioning the validity and scruples...

this number calls constantly, it very disruptive since we work shift work and my mother is in the hospital , i cringe everytime the phone rings.  This makes me very angry.  If i knew what they wanted it would be different, but i have no idea.

called Sat. 10/04/2008, 4:25 PM CT.

First call from this number. Male caller said "We're calling about, you know, breast cancer research; wondering if we can send you an envelope." Immediately sounded fishy to me with the "you know." most telemarketers are trained to avoid that. I said "An envelope?" He said, "Yes, we're hoping you can send us back a donation." I said, "You can send the envelope but I can't guarantee a donation." He said "OK" and hung up on me. Not a real charity telemarketer, for sure. Probably wanted to ask personal info during the spiel.

Best strategy, suggested to me by Brian W. of Jackson MS is: sound eager to donate, say "tell me all about it", then put down the phone and go about your daily tasks. You don't have to listen - the ack-ack signal will tell you when to go hang up the phone again. They will keep talking for a while which wastes their time and therefore, their money. They hate that and will probably not call back.

called while i was gone. date 10-08-08 @ 10:04 AM PDT. no msg. on answering maching. even so...i would not have answered...i obtain the number off caller id...then use my phone service to block the number....the companies/people will always find a way around any law..they don't care if you say that you are going to report them to...whomever...by the time the "feds," or your state government gets around to dealing with them.....YEARS!...they will have either closed up or changed their name(s)...GOOD LUCK!!!

addenum...just remembered...about 7 days ago i went shopping at my local "safeway" store. i usually use my "club card" to get shopping discounts. upon checking out...the checker asked if i wanted to donate $1 to "breast cancer?" i did...as i have had several people close to me either survive or pass away. beware...that info on your club card is used for telemarketing..i have called "safeway," which is a major northwest grocery chain and complained about the use of this info. deaf ears...just don't use it
