These folks called again on my cell phone.  As per my last post, I have no debt.  But I have been in the past, many years ago.  Legitimate debt collectors and credit issuers will send something in the mail.  Don't fall for it.  Don't even answer it.  One poster said that they don't even have a credit card - that alone should tell is that these folks are a scam, no matter how convincing they might sound to some.

This is Chase credit card services. They are calling because you haven't paid your bill and they want their money. Pay your bill and they will stop calling.

Stop using a credit card and not paying the bill?

Really -- then why are they calling so many people who report that they have no debt, nor even any credit cards?  Of course people should pay their bills -- if they owe them.  Just saying "pay your bill" isn't particularly helpful when there are so many scam collection agencies out there who call and harass people who don't actually owe any debt.

Companies may call a number that used to be associated with a debtor and assume it is still a legitimate contact number for them.  They often times do not care if you speak with them and inform them that the person they are looking for is not you and in the past I have gotten calls looking for 2 parties by their 1st and last name.  When I informed the collector they had the wrong number they went on to ask me if I lived at the debtors address.

Years ago I had a workplace accident and was unable to work for almost 2 years.  Creditors don't care that you are not working, they don't care if you have a place to live, they just want a payment.  Some may be better than others, but most just want a payment so they can collect an incentive on it and restart the clock on when a debt becomes time barred.

As far as caller ID goes, I have an all in one machine that gives me a print out of the last 30 calls to my number.  It does not matter if they call twice in a row, have y calls in the day or whatever.  The machine logs the last 30 calls and allows you to print a report showing the pattern of calls and frequency.  If you are getting harassing calls based on frequency, see if your printer has a log feature for the fax caller ID function.  I know my HP does in the print reports feature.

These people called identifying themselves as GE Bank (or something similar) calling about my unpaid balance on my Gap Card.  They tried to get me to make a payment over the phone and I said I would do it online.  Then he asked if I was still at the same address, email, and phone number.  I just said yes and hung up.  I will call Gap and check the security of my account.  Nice try buddy!!

They call every day, usually around 8:30 am, and then 8:30 pm. I answered once and no one picked up. For a while they were leaving a message as GE Capital Retail Bank. Now they are not leaving any message.

If you don't want them to keep calling you, you can write to them and request no phone calls, however, you still have to deal with the reason they are calling in the first place.  Many banks, credit card companies and collection agencies will work with you to try and make it easier for you to make the payments.  Give it a try, you may be surprised.  A lot of people are facing tough times, but at least stand up and accept your responsibility to repay what you borrowed or charged.   If the collector will not work with you at all, then go to court and the judge will probably agree to something reasonable.  Good luck and remember, many of us are in the same boat.

I keep getting calls from this number.  Sometimes when I answer the phone they hang up and other times they want to lower my interest rate on my credit card.  They call numberous times a day.  I wish they would take me off their calling list.

Rcvd 5 calls from this number today. My caller ID shows the first call at 8:37 a.m. and the last one at 8:40 p.m. I answered the last one and a recording said to wait for this important message and then a man came on the line. I love how they always call you by your first name. I asked who he was with. He said PayPal. I told him I don't have PayPal and to please take me off their list. I'm sure that'll happen.

I just called and confirmed this number is for GE CAPITAL BANK. GE is behind thousands of retail stores, specifically with their store cards. For instance, mine is a Walmart Discover card. It slipped my mind to pay it last month so they call to let you know (this is what the agent from my card customer service told me). This phone number is different from the one on the back of my card, but the agent confirmed it is from GE Capital. If you don't think you have an account with then you probably do :-)

This is a debt collecting company for people who don't pay their bills on time. They aren't a scam, it is just people trying to hide from their debtors.
