Wanted EBay info - it was a foreign voice

keeps calling my cell phone, foreign voice, tell me to hold, that she is only the operator, asks for my home phone, etc..

6 to 10 calls from this number for the past week....I answer and they hang up.

Every day, six to eight times a day, for the past 3 weeks, this number keeps calling. Now it shows on my Blocked Calls Log.  They must really be stupid mf's !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lady with an accent called and said we owed money on a paypal credit card, but we don't have a credit card from them.  She wanted me to make a payment via our checking account over the phone.  She also wanted our cell phone numbers. Our caller ID said 'private caller', but the call-back number she gave me was 866-437-2914.

Consistently calls, on occasion before the voice mail greeting finishes, starts leaving their phone number with hours of operation.

Foreign male caller asked for me by name, caller ID showed private number, said they were calling in regards to my Paypal/ GE Money account, knew details of my account, asked if I wanted to make a payment by phone, asked for bank routing number. I asked for a number to call him back at, he gave this number. I asked if he minded if I turned him in to the State Attorney Generals Office for fraud, he said the call was genuine, asked if I would make payment on-line which I said I would. Turns out it was a genuine call, I was indeed overdue on my Paypal Buyer Credit account. Wife said she had not received a statement in the mail for months. I am still surprised they asked for bank account numbers over the phone.

We've received calls from the above number and it was *not* legitimate. I suspect the previous post offering up that their call was real yet they we're "surprised they asked for bank account numbers over the phone" could very well be the scammers posting info on this site.

If you receive a call, ask for the phone number to call them back and validate that their number matches the real entity's customer support numbers.

These people are very good at making you feel threatened and how urgent it is that you pay now, avoid late fees, negative credit reporting, etc. And they do somehow have access to your account information so they can effectively sell the story.

Legitimate companies will not use aggressive tactics.

This scam is quite clever

Here's how it works: They call posing as Paypal and get your bank account information and then they actually PAY THE BILL! So now you see that the bill has been paid and you consider the call legitimate. Why wouldn't you, the bill has been paid. Everything's cool right? That's how "dw" above interpreted it.

Here's the cheeky bit. They now have your account information and will attempt to pull money from your account at a later date/time. If they wait weeks then you are likely to not make the connection between the phone call and the withdrawal "out of the blue."

There are a number of ways to get the acct info so they can sound credible.

If you find yourself on this website because you were given the above phone number, close the related account immediately.

It is paypal plus credit card from GE money bank.  This card is affiliated with paypal but not the same company.

Wooow, I've been getting this call about 5 times a day as well. I never answer my phone if I don't recognize the number and to me if it is  important then leave a message.

Well with all the calls they made I never received a voice mail, so it finally got me interested on where or what area code this call is from as it is obvious not from my area code area. Well thanks to Google and the ability to Google a number I came to this site and saw this nefarious @sswipe for what it is.

this # belongs to GE finacial, the bank that provides the paypal credit card. For any of you that have a paypal credit card and stopped getting written bills around march of 07 because of their switch to online billing. GE finacial is getting sued over this, because they did not give many of their customers a choice and when the customers didnt get a bill to pay ,they were late and got charged big fees. acording to the lawsuit ,the bank can not do this unless the customer asks for it. GE did just the oposite, if you didnt want it you had to tell them in writiing.
These people that work for GE finacial are very hatefull !! They demand payment over the phone or they say they will debit your bank acct. that is listed on your PayPal acct.

I got this number from some Indian in India when I called to cancel my PayPal Plus account . They said to call 866-437-2914 to talk about a settlement . GE Money Bank is correct . I cant wait to tear into these thieves .

I have been getting calls from 1-866-437-2914.  I put the number in my browser and was led to this website.  They never leave a message when they call; I just get the number.  I know how to investigate it.  I have a bill from Paypal that isn't due until 07/17.  I will pay the bill, cut the card in half and cancel the account.  Thanks to this website, I know it is Paypal.

PAYPAL GE IS A SCAM BEWARE! THEY DO NOT SEND BILLS, YOU TRY TO GET YOUR LATE FEES REMOVED & THE LIE TO YOU!  IF YOU ARE LUCKY TO TALK TO SOMEONE HONEST THERE THEY WILL TELL YOU THEY MADE A MISTAKE NOT SENDING THOUSANDS OF BILLS BUT ARE ONLY WILLING TO REMOVE ONE OR TWO LATE CHARGES EVEN THROUGH IT WAS THERE FAULT YOU NEVER RECEIVED ANY BILLS!  THEN THE CALL YOU 5+ TIMES A DAY FROM A PRIVATE #.  WHEN YOU TELL THEM TO STOP CALLING YOU THEY CALL FROM THE 1-866 # FROM THIS POST!  I'M FILING A CLASS AUCTION LAW SUITE AGAINST THEM, PLEASE JOIN ME!!

I'm having the same thing happen to me. I'm still waiting for this month's bill and never received last month's. Also when I log onto my account and try to pay. They ask me to fill out all the banking information again. Why would they need to do that. Since I have a paypal account number already set up with that information. I've had a phone call everyday with no message for the pass three weeks. I will not answer an unknown number.

I have been getting calls since 5:46 AM today from number 866-437-2914 and they do not leave a message.  I want this number and these harassing calls stopped immediately.  If this is some prank I don't find it funny. According to notes this is a scam.

Getting 6 calls a day starting at 7 am and lasting till 9 pm i never Answer the phone i know who they are. I saved the number and put Silent as there ringtone, so at the end of the day i just see how many times they called and then erase from History.
