Why is everyone so uptight about this number, or any 800 number for that matter (yes, I do understand some are 'scams" but as functioning adults you should know the warning signs)?
I am behind on my credit card, we all run into financial issues at some point. If you actually answer the call you will be asked to verify your information (address, birth date... really... anyone could get a hold of this information if they wanted to) once they verify your info they will then tell you that you're behind on bill payments. You should know you are anyways, don't you keep track of your bills? Have them emailed, ePost, mailed, check at the branch, call for your balance?
Just because you're behind on your bills doesn't mean you have to come here and spam false information that the number is a "scam". Pick up the phone, deal with the (yes, stupid) calling system they have and sort out your situation. Most of the representatives are willing to work with you to get past balances cleared up.
Coming here and posting false information and ignoring these important calls is not only hurting you but you're also worrying others with rubbish.

I see a lot of people on this thread saying it is TD Bank.
I don't bank with TD, nor have I ever.
They call several times per day and never leave a message.
If I answer the call, no one is there.
I give up, I'm just tired of the sound of my phone ringing :)

This number has called me numerous times in the last 3-4 months. It is an automated message saying it is a message for 'Natasha Carpenter' from TD auto financial.
I called this number many times to have it removed as I am not 'Natasha Carpenter'.
Whoever these 'donkeys' are that are taking phone calls are completely rude, they have said the numerous times I have called that my number has been taken off their list, yet I continue to receive calls on my cell. I am beyond irritated. When I called directly I was hung up on 3 times. Obviously the calls are not being monitored for 'quality assurance and training purposes'. The number that continues to call is  1 866-580-5354

For me it was TD. They were calling my elderly mother's cell because she didnt quite complete a payment on her credit card like she thought she had done. I called back in the middle of the day and got an agent within a minute. Ive had a new cell number whose previous owner was in collections and I got collection calls for them for months. Not a fan of banks, just my experience.

I called my bank as I received these calls at the same time of the month, every month from this number! No message is left and when you call back you get a weird dial tone.  The bank has advised me in certain, this is not a number belonging to them. The agent was able to put me thru to the department that handles these scams and confirmed again this is not a number associated with TD banking needs.
I have blocked this number from my phone
    Thank you

It is illegal to use deceptive and unfair business tactics as seen on this thread. Disguised as the client, abusing and exploiting alleged debtors their relatives and friends, failure to identify the outsourced call center, failure to identify the true intent of the call.

This is NOT TD bank. Legitimate banks do NOT , I repeat DO NOT hide behind toll free unknown untraceable 1 800 numbers. When TD calls you, your call display  will show their identity.
    1. Do you know that anyone can subscribe to a 1 800 number for a niminal charge and use it as a business telephoneAND claim the subscription cost  as a business expense? Many people are now listed on the DO NOT CALL lists, and this is a way to get past that without incurring hatred and lawsuits.

    2. What organizations know and are aware of this legal loophole? Yes, the most obvious as mentioned are  credit collectors. Next in line are canvassers/aka cold callers for charities, political parties, and even scammers.

They do not have a human being on the other line who will answer when you reply and say \"hello"? so dont even bother lifting the phone. Invest in an answering machine. These are bots- programmed to cold call.
Sadly, this is technology at its worst, If you answer your number is tagged. And yes, they have invested in multiple numbers all beginning with 1- 8_ _. Make sure you recognize numbers that phone you and answer only those..

Some liar from a collections outsourcer, claiming to be a Bank.

I offered to call them back AT THE BANK'S PUBLISHED 800 NUMBER and use an extension number to get to their desk - it's a cheap way to quickly confirm they're not lying - and they suddenly weren't at that number;  thus the accusation that they were lying, and the assumption they must be some scumbag collector trying to reach the guy who used to have my phone number.  Poor guy.
