The person appears to be using automated debt collection software and has called my number repeatedly. This is an annoying call to the wrong person. This is in violation of FTC rules and regulations. Consider this as a cease and desist notice.

    such immaturity...

i don't know how to sound unbiased here...so ill give it a go...debt collectors are simply trying to PAY THEIR BILLS...the intention is not to harass, insult, aggravate, or disrespect "consumers" or "debtors" as we would call them...despite what the majority of the posters on here seem to believe, there is NO personal involvement, we don't HATE you if you don't pay your bill, we don't feel powerful, or better in demanded money from the meek and the poor, so stop it....making us look like the bad guy because you couldn't pay your bill is unfair, especially when WE GET MONEY TO PAY OUR BILLS by reminding you that you need to pay yours...remember we deal with MANY shady individuals on a daily basis therefore our line of work requires for us to treat situations w/ a certain tact...it's funny though i just wonder to myself how us demanding people to pay their bill justifies them coming on a message board and throw childish insults, im just looking at some of the responses in here and i can TELL that most of these people probably COULD HAVE paid their bills had they prioritized them, and they are upset because somebody tried to tell them to pay their bill, they didn't like it and became defensive...i can respect an educated criticism, but saying we're "fat" and "screwing our bosses" on a msg board is just childish...i believe some of the people on here are having a hard time, and i personally apologize on the behalf of bill collectors worldwide...however the ones in here talking nonsense and throwing childish insults are the ones you should just stay out of the mix...you make things harder on the people who REALLY DO HAVE HARDSHIPS where making a 1$ payment would put them in the hole...im just lol'in at people "learn how to spell before you demand money"...hello idiots, it's called a TYPO...im sure we've ALL commited them...stop interfering with the right of people who DESERVE THE CONSUMER RIGHTS...most people ABUSE THE CONSUMER'S RIGHTS...for example, if you're smokin a pack of cigarettes a day and you have outstanding debts, think to yourself, and call yourself a LIAR and a SNAKE...because you CAN pay SOMETHING on your bill....you KNOW, when you say you cannot pay ANYTHING ON THE BILL, you're LYING, because you're spending 25-40/wk on cigarettes alone...that's just an example of people NOT prioritizing the bill, ABUSING THE RIGHTS the protect consumers with REAL issues...fact is many of us collectors are meek and poor just like those that are complaining about us...however we are just trying to DEAL WITH RESPONSABILITY and PAY OUR BILLS...nobody grows up aspiring to be a debt collector, so for those who say we're animals...we're humans JUST LIKE YOU...we(collectors), for the most part are just making ends meet...but we HAVE TO PAY OUR BILLS...those of you who are saying we hate ourselves because of what position we're in...i dunno who sd that, but think to yourself, if we hate our lives because we have a bad job, how much do you hate yours for having NO JOB to the point you can't pay your bills?...the best thing to do when trying to fight for your rights is don't shoot yourself in the foot with idiotic, and immature insults...speak the FACTS and you'll probably get further...

and for those who think this is a scam, the client buys debt, and hires us to collect it, otherwise our daughter's don't eat...simple as that...

You may have already sorted out the problem, but I just wanted to add...I had an account at USBANK and it defaulted and was sent to three higher collections until it finally ended with paul coleman and associates based out of Revere Mass. I had spoken with the Usbank rep who sent me through their phone lines to each higher collections.  The legitimate number for these people are 1 866 485 9708. They are definitly not the friendliest people to deal with, but I have sent payments to them and it did in fact go through towards my usbank account.  I spoke with a very rude man by the name of John Parker (dont talk to him, hes nasty) and then again with a man named Charlie who was a bit more helpful.  Any questions ask...hope this was helpful : o

False accusations will be delt with accordingly. Unfortunately all user who continue to state false accusations against Attorney Paul J. Coleman's office will be handled as harassment over the internet. I have ran the following user's IP addresses. Remember users the internet should be an easy and safe place that we can gather knowledge and legitimate facts understanding your roll in our environment is a partial fact in life, your actions do affect others and this is not the way we want to show our children how to react to our past due Debts that you do indeed owe, lets all take on our adult responsibilities.

I don't think anyone is demeaning the profession of debt collection.  I think people are just frustrated that this firm seems to have made a practice of calling the wrong people and refusing to desist.  They were recently trying to get in touch with my wife.  They called my mother, her mother, and finally my house.  They wouldn't speak to me (fair enough), and when they spoke to my wife, they discovered that her social security did not match the one on their account.  So they wouldn't speak with her further about the matter.  All of that is fine, but then they kept calling us.  So they won't speak with us about the matter when we call them, but they refuse to stop calling our family members.  They can't justify both approaches.

ive been a bill collector for 20 years, i think it is pathetic the means we go through to collect the bills entirely, we have to skip you down as if you are on the run, point taken, but to say that were all deadbeats, WE HAVE JOBS, OUR BOSSES TELL US WHAT TO DO AND WE DO IT if any of you people actually had employment and didnt just sit around and rack up credit card bills maybe you'd understand

    Bottom Feeder replies to appalled
I am a collector w/15 years experience.  It is not against the law/FDCPA to contact your FAMILY members or your NEIGHBORS, for location information. Unless of course you live in the state of WISCONSIN or MINNESOTA.  When calling either party, we can only leave our name and phone number to be passed on to you, and that is ONLY if we do not already have that information, and have had NO previous CONTACT w/you AT ALL. NEVER, EVER, EVER, can we DISCLOSE any information about WHY we are trying to contact you, or that it is involving a DEBT !! I am appalled that any collector would call your neighbor and DIVULGE such information.!! You HONESTLY should call an attorney that deals w/collection practices, and sue BOTH the Law firm, and the collector personally.  The law/FDCPA protects you!!! You will end up having the debt wiped out totally, if it is has not been already!!! Good Luck.  I am not your typical BOTTOM FEEDER, and I would NEVER use such practices to collect a debt!!!!

Bill collectors know that it is against the law to do the following
    *Call repeatedly or continuously
The FDCPA considers repeat calls as harassment. [15 USC 1692d] § 806(5)

*Use obscene, profane, or abusive language
Using this kind of language is considered harassment. [15 USC 1692d] § 806(2)

*Call before 8:00 am or after 9:00 pm
Calls during these times are considered harassment. [15 USC 1692c] § 805(a)(1)

*Call at times the collector knew or should know are inconvenient
Calls at these times are considered harassment. [15 USC 1692c] § 805(a)(1)

*Use or threaten to use violence if you don't pay the debt
    Collectors can't threaten violence against you. [15 USC 1692d] § 806(1)

*Threaten action they cannot or will not take
Collectors can't threaten to sue or file charges against you, garnish wages, take property, cause job loss, or ruin your credit when the collector cannot or does not intend to take the action. [15 USC 1692e] § 807(5)

*Illegally inform a third party about your alleged debt
Unless you have expressly given permision, collectors are not allowed to inform anyone about your debt except:
    your attorney
    the creditor
    the creditor's attorney
    a credit reporting agency
    your spouse
your parent (if you are a minor)
    [15 USC 1692c] § 805(b)

*Repeatedly call a third party to get your location information
The collector can only contact a third party once unless it has reason to believe the information previously provided is false. [15 USC 1692b] § 804(1)

Contact your Attorney General and file a complaint.

These days, especially with it being tough economical times, bill collectors will do whatever it takes to collect on a debt they claim you owe.  You have rights under the fair credit reporting act, that protect you from being harassed by a bill collector.  You also have the right to request information, such as the name and address from the collection agency calling you and in your defense you need to send a debt validation letter, via certified mail.  There failure to respond, means they cannot prove the debt is actually yours and they cannot legally continue collecting on the debt they claim you owe.

    Check out these websites
    budhibbs.com
    clarkhoward.com

Always pay your bills, but when someone attempts to collect a debt from you, always make that party prove you owe the allege debt they claim, before you pay.  Always conduct your research on any collection agency, and always do your communication via registered mail and make them aware you will only communicate via mail, not by phone.  That way, you always have it in writing, instead of it being your word against there word and never agree to paid a dime, until they have give you sufficient documentation that the debt really does belong to you.

Their are legitimate collection agencies and their are collection agencies out there to rip you off and scare you into paying something you honestly do not owe.

I received a call from these people yesterday, in regards to an old debt with Bank of America, they had issued me a card within 2 weeks of my turning 18, I was young and dumb, I admit it!I ended up using the card for my day to day living expenses when I became unemployed a year later, and if you want to complain about me being a deadbeat, [***]! I work outside in North Dakota in the winter, and yes, you can sweat when it is -40!

I paid Bank of America what I could that year out of my tax return, and then became fully delinquent, a year later they called me to try to settle the debt out of my tax return, and I was able to send them some, but not much, and the total balance with the late fees and interest was still 7515 after my payment, on a card that had a credit limit of 2500!!!

I sent a complaint to the FTC tonight about these guys, they were demanding 8500 and saying they were going to sue me and take "all of my assets and garnish my wages", well, I checked the free annual credit report, and BoA wrote off 4764 of the 7515 debt in early 2007
