They keep calling my JOB asking for a Stephanie. I've told them a million time there is no one here by that name but they keep calling. They end up asking for the name of someone above me and that's when I hang up on them. From now on when that number comes up on caller ID we ignore it.

Just received a call asking for one of my neighbors work numbers...I don't have it, would not have shared it and asked for the caller's name and company.  He said DCS of Tx and gave me a return number of 1-866-486-0885 x 6182

I get calls from this number and I do not have any loans or unpaid bills.
So if it is a collection agent...they are calling the wrong person.
I don't answer any calls unless I know WHO they are. There is never a name of who is calling.

    No Name...no answer!

Got called by this number as well. So many haters just say "well if you paid your bills they wouldnt call". With the amount of scams out there today can you blame people for being skeptical. Also, how can so many judge? Companies are laying people off at an alarming rate for no reason and people are still supposed to pay their bills? Continue to keep thinking you are so mighty and you'll fall even harder. If it's so legit why didnt they leave a message smart people?

Call from DCS, a collection agency, looking for a neighbor. Per federal law this is legal. However, they may only call you once (also per federal law).

They also do not need to give you the name of the company unless you specifically ask them. Since the C in DCS stands for collection, they are not allowed to tell you the full name since it would then be sharing info with you that a debt is owed (also federal law).

I don't agree with the federal law. I believe that calling neighbors (by the way I live a block away) should not be allowed.

As a general rule, I believe that anyone who doesn't share the name on the caller ID is already trying to hide something. If they want to hide it, don't call.

Second time I have been called for a person I do not know. I was told the first time that it would not happen again after we determined I was not the party they were looking for. In fact, that person lives in another state.

    wow!
I received a call from them at my company. They asked for me by only my first name. When asked who was calling, the caller gave Daniella as her name. No company name. When I answered the phone she addressed why she was calling quite frankly - 'This is Daniella and I am attempting to collect a debt to your husband of a past due student loan of $X, totalling $X. How would you like to pay this today?' My first thoughts were shock, as I was at work, I am not on his loan application - reference, etc. I was a student in high school. The company he has a loan with has NO INFORMATION regarding myself or that my husband and I are married. When I questioned this Daniella how she got my information she stated that I was a reference. Then when I esplained that is not possible she stated that his reference gave her my information. His ONLY references are his parents. I know for a fact that they WOULD NOT give my information. They would simply take a message and relay it to us. And they have not been contacted once. By the end of the conversation, when this Daniella realized I WAS NOT going to give her any money, she threatened our assets, including our home, would be in jeopardy. I told her that she did not need to call me at work and disrupt my day since I am not on the loan, I am not a reference on the loan, and I was not a third party contact on the loan. At that point she made, what I imagine to be a pre written generic statement, that 'this was an attempt to collect his debt and it would be noted in his file' and hung up.

My husband made several attempts to contact Daniella back. Without any returned messages, she calls and accuses that he never contacted her and, again, that our assets were in danger - explaining that our home (even giving the address) was going to be seized if he did not make/confirm a payment over the phone right then. Being that I pay the bills and handle the bank accounts, he did not have the information. He told Daniella to call him back in 10 min and he would gather the info for her...she kept saying 'when you call me back'. At that point my husband explained that her AGAIN that he wanted HER to call him back. She, again, threatened him with our home. He got the info she needed regarding the account and we did set a ONE TIME transaction.

I wanted to know exactly what information they had regarding my husband and his 'account' with them. So I called back. This Daniella was completely fine calling my work and demanding money, releasing my husbands personal information but when I call requesting it, it was a 'private matter'. I asked to speak to her supervisor. I was given a Jason Monaham/Monahan (he did not speak clearly). This 'gentleman' was extremely rude. He attempted to lecture me to pay MY payments and I wouldn't be in this mess. That he 'wasted 5 mins of his life listening to me complain when it was my husbands fault'. That 'he had gotten his payment and thats all he wanted'.

This company has also called my mother regarding my student loan. They demanded that she make payment right away. She stated the man she spoke with was very polite. She assumed it was just someone with the loan company and gave him a payment over the phone of over $500. Then, 4 mo later she started getting statements from the loan company stating they haven't received payment. When she called and explained that DCS had collected 4 mo ago, they stated DCS didn't report to them. Through the contacts she had made with the loan company, she learned that DCS was attempting to say they never received payment. My mother keeps very good records of her accounts, as she has been in this situation before, and was able to prove that she did make payments.

My experience with this company was NOT pleasant. They are rude. They attempt to intimidate and threaten. They are not, in any way, trying to help you from court precedings or arrangements to pay back your debt. I would suggest if you receive a call from them, you call your loan company. DO NOT attempt to 'work' with these people. It is pointless.

For those of you on here making comments like 'if you paid your debt...', DO NOT try to lecture me. DO NOT try to tell me how to pay my bills. In the scheme of money, my child comes first, then house, my car, FOOD, gas/electric, misc bills, then - IF I have anything left - student loans. Living in the economy today and in Elkhart County, the #1 county affected by this current crisis, that is how I will handle my money. These companies will be damn lucky that I pay them $10 a year at this point. And DCS employees should be damn lucky they are only over the phone. I know in person they would not speak to myself, or my husband, they way they do over the phone.

These jerks keep calling week after week after week, and I don't even know the person they keep asking about. I keep telling them I don't know this person and to quit calling me, but they keep persisting. And you say this is LEGAL??? I don't see how harrassing someone for someone elses debt who you don't even know can be legal. Now when I see them calling, I just ignore it. They hang up when they hear the machine, but it is still annoying they keep calling every week, sometimes 3 or 4 times a week. This has been going on for about 5 months now.

They called me and asked for me. I never identify myself to debt collectors. They are sleazy. I kept telling her she would have to tell me what this was about before she could talk. She said that I would just keep getting phone calls. That is so messed up to think they would harass someone even if it is a wrong number.

FYI just send them a certified letter to stop contacting that number. Then if they call again you can sue them. NEVER pay debt collectors - most of the time they don't even own the debt and are scamming you. Pay the original creditor.

Never give anyone your social security number. If someone asks me for that, I assume they are trying to steal my identity.

If you really are behind on your student loan, call your loan company and ask if they have retained this company's services. Most of these scam artist collection agencies don't really have a deal with the loan company and just get the information off the internet. Consequently, if you do pay them money, it doesn't service your loan. They pocket the payment.
