Finding your information is easy for them.

You need to send them a certified, return receipt "not me" letter (think of it as the best $6.47 you ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notion of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Read up on your rights here and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

    Willie...
Called and asked for my Bro-in-Law by name. I said "he is not at this address." I said that I don't have his number, but took their info in case I MIGHT be able to get a message to him. As soon as I hung up, I Googled the number, and here we are. Connecting me to my Bro-in-Law, when we live in different states, and have very different names? Really?

a woman from this number (866-516-1881 ext 2317) actually called my nephew, who has a completely different name, looking for me! she would not tell him what it was about, but he said it sounded sketchy...
How did they find him??? He is my sister's son - my sister has had problems with a stalker, so we keep her name out of any public records - especially her married name! WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE????

No name is "kept out of public records".  Now, if you had read the other posts, you would have known who they are and what to do about it.

Apparently someone calling themselves Jasmine called my dads home phone asking for me. My last name has been different since 2003 and I've never lived with him at any address nor have I ever listed his home phone number on anything. The lady claimed she had a "business proposition" for me & wanted him to give me the message. I of course Googled the number before calling it thank goodness!
