- J.M.I talked to these people a while ago and told them that I wanted them to send me proof of any owed monies in writing, they then said "so, you're saying that you're not going to pay us?" I said "No, you said that, I want the name of the original creditor, the account number, the original amount of the debt, the amount of the debt that you say I owe and an accounting of all accrued interest to show how your company came up with amount owed, as is my rights under the FDCA." The guy kept trying to twist my words around and kept asking so you say you don't owe the debt and you're not going to pay? I told him that I wanted proof that I owed the debt as there are so many companies out there trying to collect on phony debts. He said that he would send me the info that I requested and hung up. I also refused to give him my address saying that he should already have it or that his company has the ability to track down the information.

- JM replies to Shortstuff90| 1 replyOn the Xperia T and HTC One, call blocking is known as Call Barring, which can be accessed on either phone’s Call Settings page on the Settings menu. Here you can block all outgoing calls, outgoing international calls, outgoing international roaming, all incoming calls, or incoming international roaming calls from everyone. You will need your barring passcode in order to activate these features.
On the HTC One, there is another way to block calls — through the Phone app. Just open the menu in the Phone app and select Blocked Contacts. Then, tap the Add button to add a contact to block. You can either add a contact from the People app or manually enter a number to block. - JM replies to MarkThey called my husband and asked him for an address so that they could arrest me (he told them that he would give up my address if they would pay him a 20% finders fee). This was 2 months ago and I'm still "at large" ;-)
- JM replies to Shortstuff90There are two ways to add a contact onto the Reject List. The easiest way is as follows:
1. Open your HTC One X Plus contact’s page.
2. cLICK the Menu button.
3. Choose Add to Reject List.
The steps above will cause all of the selected contact’s numbers to be added to the Reject List. On the Contacts list, blocked numbers are shown with the blue universal “No” symbol.
If you need to block only some of the contact’s numbers, you can unblock the valid numbers through the Auto Reject List menu in the HTC One X Plus app.
The HTC One X Plus also has the Blocking Mode feature, which lets you limit phone calls at certain hours. To enable Blocking Mode, go to Settings. Open the My Device page, click the Blocking Mode option, and from there turn on the Blocking Mode switch. You can select what features to block. You can disable incoming calls, notifications, alarm and timer, and/or LED indicator.
When blocking calls in this way, all incoming calls will be automatically rejected and you will not hear any ring or feel any vibration when there is an incoming call, but you will see a notification of the missed call. If you want certain contacts to be able to reach you even if Blocking Mode is enabled, specify them in the list of Allowed Contacts. - sylviastop calling me
- Winston SmithThis is the number Midland Credit Management has recently adopted. They used to call from 877-411-5551. They call my work cell phone up to 10x per day from the old number until I blocked it. They would call daily until about June 12th, then they didn't call until yesterday, when there was a flurry of calls. They switched to 866-580-4780 this morning. So I blocked it also. Probably just a matter of time until they start spoofing yet another number. If you are being harassed by these folks, it's best to configure your phone to not answer when opened, as you could accidentally answer while trying to place an outgoing call, if the incoming volume is extremely high.
As some other people have mentioned, save it to the contact list like "scam" or "ignore27" and assign a silent ringtone. It doesn't really block it but you never hear it ring. No more interruptions in the middle of a meeting or while working on a difficult work problem.- Caller: Midland Credit Management

- Elizabeth replies to Jim| 1 replyI added a mobile contact called Do Not Answer. I add all these numbers, plus a few unrelenting exboyfriends. The contact is blocked. My phone doesn't ring when any of the numbers call. It's delightful.

- NI have received several calls from this number over the past two weeks on my cell and after reading here, decided to answer the call that just came in this morning at 8:55 AM Central time. The first words I heard were, "This call will be recorded." Then a bunch of background caller room noise. Finally after I said 'Hello' 3 times, a man spoke and asked for Henry Johnson. Quite a generic name, in my opinion. After I told him he had the wrong number, he politely said, "I'm sorry. Thank you." And the call was ended. I'll be curious to see how many more calls I receive!! (BTW--I have had the same cell phone number for 20+ years!)
