- Julie replies to anon| 4 repliesMy student loan debt is already being garnished, so why are they calling?
- RagingIt seems evident to me that debt collection by phone is simply not going to work in these days of rampant identity theft and spoofing. The calls are incessant, including ridiculous threats of being served by law enforcement. I have no outstanding debts--never had--school loans paid off decades ago. ConServe is likely looking for someone who previously had my number, but with constant asinine "Toll Free Caller" calls interfering daily with my productivity....most never actually say anything when one answers.....Some debt collection!!.... I have had to stop answering them. I am also not going to verify personal information with every scumbag who calls, especially when the person on the other end of the line is hiding the callback number and/or their identity. Spoofing is rampant and now is such that one has no assurance as to the actual caller's identity/number...I have had calls ostensibly from Donald Trump and now am called every day by an ostensible "fundraiser" that is inserting another business' number as their company name while ostensibly calling from a different number every day....Not a good way to represent firefighters and police, if they are legit!
I have absolutely no assurance that the person on the other end of the line is legitimate. I am not going to identify my personal information with someone who calls me. The truth is people are impersonating the IRS, bank personnel and others on a daily basis....I am not going to give information to someone from an industry that is ripe with fraud. Furthermore, many of these creeps do not stop calling even when told they have the wrong number. I have no choice, if I want any peace or the ability to get anything done, to block all of these numbers and never pick up for unknown/unidentified callers. Period.- Caller: "Toll Free Call'

- Ashley replies to Loan CollectorThis is actually super great information.
- I stopped their hang-up calls... replies to cc...by doing the very same thing to them. If they called me six times a day and hung-up, I gave them six hang-up calls.
I did this for one week, then the calls stopped. That was over a month ago.
Your mileage may vary. - gotrippedoff.... replies to gone| 1 replyI was paying 440 biweekly to SunTrust for over a year then all of a sudden from up under me they sold my loan to another agency. when I went to file my taxes I found out that none of the money I paid went towards the interest or the principal instead it went towards that companies collection fees so basically once their fees were almost paid off they then sold my loan to a company that would charge me yet again for their fees and then sell the off fees and probably sell my loan again before any of it got paid so
- it's not difficult replies to gotrippedoff....While you are in default, yes, you pay toward collection costs, and why shouldnt you? You have to prove now that you can and will reestablish a consistent payment history VOLUNTARILY. Any garnishments, IRS tax offsets, or other involuntary methids of payment do not count as a "payment". After you fulfill the requirements of the program, including paperwork , the remaining ocollection costs are waived when the loantransfers to a servicer. You are then required to work with that servicer to keep making payments. if you go back into default then you are assessed
- satisfied replies to Defrauded StudentYes. this worked out for you once you handled it properly by providing the necessary paperwork. but for the millions who just dodge phone calls and avoid the issue? Whether a valid dispute is the case or simply an unwillingness to pay a huge payment, doing nothing results in a garnishment or tax offset. who wants that?
- not legitscammers, phishing for info
- George End replies to Loan Collector| 2 repliesI am listed on my son's student loans. He has 2 and pays then every month. I got called by ConServ, they didn't leave a message, if they have a problem with my account which is by no means late... Then they should have left a message. So as far as I am concerned, this was a harrasing phone call.
- CS replies to George EndThey don't call you just to call. There is obviously a reason. Call in and find out why they called. It's pretty simple.
- Stop Garnishment replies to JulieCall them, they're calling you to stop the garnishment!
