They are calling because a garnishment is not a voluntary repayment option. If you contact them they can probably help you stop the garnishment while getting your loans out of a defaulted status so that you can avoid garnishments in the future, having your taxes offset, or the possibility of the government taking you to court eventually. Call them and see how they can help you. They can usually stop a garnishment on your wages after 5 consecutive on time monthly payments for whatever amount you can get approved for

Why are you trying to give advice to a post(er) from 2014? I doubt that she will be back. Or are you just doing some SHILL-TASTIC damage control?

If ConServe is calling you, they either got the number from the Department of Education or a site which helps provide possible numbers for the people they are trying to contact. ConServe is a legitimate business that works for the Department of Education.

What if they were just scrolling through and wanted to offer advice to someone else who might scroll through, expecially since for some reason this site shows you the oldest posts first

This is exactly what I would have said. They were very pleasant to work with so I never threw a fit.  You know you owe it and the best thing to do is cooperate with them. The payments are very affordable.  I actually thanked the guy for being so nice and trying to make it as painless as possible for me.

anon posted on 5 Feb 2010 and its highly unlikely they will see your "shill" reply. You trolls think pretending to be a shill is funny, but its really just sad you have nothing better to do on a Sat morning but to act like a fool by posting phony stories.

So you've already dealt with this caller and thus know who they are, right? So why did you look up their number?  I'm with Mike - I think you're just trying to shill.

This is probably the first time that I've received helpful information from this page.  Thank you for providing all of the information regarding ConServe!! I appreciate it.

I would call that anything but "helpful information".  Plus that poster wrote that 8 years ago.  They certainly will not "help" you with anything since their commission is the result of how much they can make you pay every month.

Some lady called and asked for a "Betty Murphy".  Didn't go through all the posts on this page, but I wonder if Betty Murphy (and I have no idea who she is) gave this phone number as her own.  The lady I spoke with said they would update their records.  By the way, I have no student loans (although maybe Betty Murphy does).  I'm 64, almost 65, and haven't been in school in nearly 40 years.

This is a scam in my book they have called many times and leave no message as if they are afraid to state who they are, no one here has ever had an Education loan, it's a scam, and get the HiYa app for your phone, you are never disturbed again once you block this number with HiYa.
